 Th 5/9/24

705am (2-LB). 745am (1-B). 820am (1-B). 1215pm (2-LB). 545pm (LB). 815pm (2-LB).

Up 6am: Cloudy, breezy & much cooler with temps to upper 60's.

Watched 'THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS' (Netflix). Not in the mood...I deleted it from the queue.

Watched 'EVEN MONEY' (Amazon Prime). It wasn't that the film was so 'bad' it was 'good', but more like it was so 'dumb' it was 'smart'. Some of the dialogue was so corny and implausible, that it became clever. Two storylines: A gambling addict has his younger brother 'shave points' in college basketball, and a female gambling addict loses her family's nest egg on the slots. And, there's also a washed up magician. Top heavy with 'B-Level' acting talent; with Kim Basinger, Forest Whitaker, Kelsey Grammer, Ray Liotta, Jay Mohr, Tim Roth, Danny DeVito, and Carla Gugino. "34" Metascore.

From New York Daily News:"Nothing in the movie rings true, least of all its depiction of gambling, both in casinos and in the bookie world that ultimately drives the story."

Watched 'RELATIVE' (Amazon Prime). A thirty five year old woman reflects on the sexual abuse that happened to her and many of her female relatives. Family says: "Times were different then. We just have to move on". She says: "If we don't confront these issues, inappropriate sexual contact will continue through the generations". I think a lot of the guilt and shame is because the victims felt some kind of pleasure during the encounters and that's what is bothering them. Catholic teachings about sex seem to insist that your first experience with sexuality occurs on your wedding night. That false premise alone will cause untold shame and guilt. An interesting topic, yet the execution was lacking.

1225pm: To Planet Fitness...45"Cross, 45"Treadmill,  30"Bike,  30"Treadmill,  30"Cross; finished 'MAN IN FULL' (Netflix)- Only a decent series and the ending was terrible;  more of DANNY MCBRIDE on SHANE GILLIS; an hour documentary about the making of LOU REED'S 'Transformer' (Amazon Prime).

Began 'THE LAST GENTLEMAN' by Walker Percy. I began 'TOTAL CONTROL'  by DAVID BALDACCI yesterday, but I realized that the Walker Percy ebook is a library loan and is only for two weeks and the Percy novel is over 400 pages. I'll get back to the Baldacci book as soon as I finish Percy.

550pm: In the tub with 'THE LAST GENTLEMAN' and listening to BILL LASWELL Playlist; LOU REED- 'Transformer'; DAVID BOWIE Playlist.

Began JERRY SEINFELD on 'Blocks'.

Began 'THE HIJACKING OF FLIGHT 601' (Netflix).  Two guys hijack a plane at  Cali, Columbia and they need to stop for fuel before they fly to Cuba. At the refueling, two cabin attendants board the plane. No cops and two more hostages? Why would authorities allow this? Just after the opening scene: "Between 1968 and 1973 was 'the golden age' of hijacking. 348 planes were hijacked across the globe. More than half took place in Latin America." I shut it down 7 minutes into episode #2.
