Watched 'AMERICAN FICTION' (Amazon Prime). {I heard a recommendation for this film in an interview with Ari Shaffir by two British comedians}. A film about 'Cancel Culture' and what defines the  'Black Experience'. A 'serious' black author decides to write a 'ghetto novel' and cash in on white guilt. A major theme of the film is about how the publishing industry imposes racial stereotypes on nonwhite authors. I loved that he decided to title the book 'Fuck'; with Jeffrey Wright, John Ortiz, and Sterling K. Brown. Based on the novel, 'Erasure' by Percival Everett.  Won 1 Oscar; 63 wins & 166 nominations. "81" Metascore and I might have even rated it slightly higher because it was a superb 'mordant satire'.  ... "Many say that they don't even believe in 'Race', but the problem is that everyone else does"... "You can't treat the inability to relate to other people as a badge of honor"... "Nobody reads Bukowski and thinks that it's about regular white people".

Finished 'THE BARRIER' (Netflix). The last two episodes were the best of the entire series. Angela Molina played 'Julia' (twin sister & a revolutionary) and Olivia Molina played 'Emilia' (the grandmother). They are mother and daughter in real life.  

1135am: PC is 'Off' and the plan is to do the weights and then hit Esporta. I might go to the vitamin store after the workout.

1230pm:  To Esporta...45"Precor,  45"Treadmill,  30"Cross,  30"Recumbent Bike,  30"Precor;  watched 'THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW' (Netflix)- A woman suffering from agoraphobia never leaves her upper East Side apartment. She witnessed a murder across the street and nobody believes her. Top heavy with acting talent, but surprisingly tame; with Amy Adams, Gary Oldman, Julianne Moore, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. "41" Metascore and that's a little higher than I would go; began a DIAZ & SYATT 'Check in'; watched a 'PRIME CRIME' (YouTube)- A young Pensacola woman is murdered and tossed into the bay. Her boyfriend was married but she got pregnant and he flipped out.

Got a car wash at Green on Veterans 

I picked up an Illinois Times at Esporta and saw another Passport Seminar at VFW Post, Saturday, 9/14; 9- noon. I'll be there.

Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
