WEEKLY CLEANING

I borrowed 2 films: 'COMPASSIONATE SPY' & 'SISI & I' at (KANOPY)

Watched 'A COMPASSIONATE SPY' (Kanopy). Interviews (with his wife and daughters) and fictional recreations tell the tale of the youngest scientist on the Manhattan Project, Ted Hall. He shared classified nuclear secrets with the Soviets because he felt that such powerful knowledge should not be owned by one nation. He felt that America had no right to be the only nation to wield this terrifying power. FUN FACT: The United Nations declared nuclear weapons illegal in December of 2021. None of the nine nuclear nations agreed to this mandate. A well done documentary. It showed how popular the Russians were during the early days of WWII. Life Magazine did a major spread about 'What It's Like In Russia'; very positive. And then, The Red Scare. The two atomic bombs that were dropped on Japan were unnecessary because their leaders were looking for a way to throw in the towel. Truman went along with the bombing because he didn't want the Russians to invade Japan and then claim that the Soviets were victorious.

Began 'OKURA: Cold Case Investigation' (Netflix).

1215pm: TO PLANET FITNESS...45"Cross,  45"Treadmill, 30" Recumbent Bike,  30" Treadmill, 30"Cross; watched 'NON STOP' (Netflix)-A very average 'PLane Held Hostage' film. One person dies every twenty minutes unless $150 million is deposited in a secret bank account. One ex-government agent is on the plane and he saves the day; with Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, Scoot McNairy, Michelle Dockery, Corey Stoll; watched an episode of 'COLD CASE FILES CLASSIC (AmazonPrime)- 1) Pimp kills prostitute outside of Madison, WI.; 2) Man in South Portland, Maine kills his wife and buries her in the crawl space; more JIM GAFFIGAN on TOM PAPA.

Reading 'THE AQUITAINE PROGRESSION'

545pm: In the tub with 'THE AQUITAINE PROGRESSION' and listening to 'FLOCK Playlist; BLACK OAK ARKANSAS Playlist;  DOORS- 'The Morrison Hotel.

More 'OKURA: Cold Case Investigation' (Netflix). I watched a few more minutes and then decided that I've invested more than enough time on this one. So it's on to another Japanese serial...Began 'QUARTET' (Netflix). And within fifteen minutes I could see that this one wouldn't work either. A strange take on four musicians who busk in Tokyo. I nixed this one and selected the next 'interesting' Japanese serial. 

Began 'THE FAMILY' (Netflix).  I shut it down 10 minutes into the first episode and I'm not entirely sold, but will continue tomorrow.

I first thought that they were for the house across the street, but it looks like the action is farther down the road. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
