Watched 'MARIA' (Netflix). It's not really a biopick, but more of a stoned rumination by a forgotten superstar from the world of Opera ("Frank Sinatra makes ten times more than I do").  Maria Callas, whacked on downers and suffering from depression and terminal narcissism, reviews certain random times in her life. The film features lots of opera singing, but no subtitles for the Italian lyrics. As with all of opera, I would love to know what they are singing about. At the end of the film clips of the real Maria Callas are shown and Angelina Jolie captured the Diva's 'Look' perfectly and was absolutely spot on!  "61" Metascore and I would have bumped it up to about "72". 

Watched 'ESCAPE FROM GERMANY' (Netflix). Just before Germany invaded Poland in September of 1939, an young 'elder' of the Mormon church was sent into Germany to evacuate thiry of their missionaries before the outbreak of WWII.  The film is low-budget (the Nazi uniforms looked like they were borrowed from a middle school production) 'faith based' propaganda yet the self righteous moral tone can almost be overlooked because it was kind of an interesting story. They got their people out of the country just nine hours before the invasion of Poland.

Began '1992' (Netflix). Filmed in Seville and Madrid, Spain. I shut it down 15 minutes into episode #2. In the second episode there is a memorable scene in which a naked man is roasted alive with a flamethrower in a hot tub.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Seems to be Ben Kingsley, but he's not the killer, he's an ex-agent who can do 'remote viewing'. Not bad, but close, however excellent and creative charcoal drawings as the 'hints' to Eckhart's character.
