Watched 'FREESTYLE' (Netflix). A gritty Polish gangster picture that was very difficult to follow. Rapid fire dialogue made it very hard to keep up with the subtitles. I liked it, but you really needed to understand Polish. It's amazing how American Rap has caught fire across the globe. I wonder if Rap has overtaken Jazz as America's greatest cultural export?  

Finished 'INFORMA' (Netflix). An odd ending to an odd series, and too deeply Japanese, but I guess that was the point. The young journalist's girlfriend was actually the daughter of the 'Informa'? Not even the Japanese saw that coming. 

Began 'BLINK TWICE' (Amazon Prime). A billionaire owns an island and invites a bunch of girls and friends for several days of drink, drugs, and maybe romance. After a while the girls are 'remembering' a little of what they should have been 'forgetting'...or something..."Forgive me, Forgive me, Forgive Me...There is no Forgiveness"; with Naomi Ackie, Channing Tatum, Alia Shawkat, Christian Slater, Geen Davis, Kyle MacLachlan. 2 wins & 21 nominations. "66" Metascore and I would go to "76".

Began 'THE ARE MURDERS' (Netflix). I shut it down 26 minutes into episode #2. Are, Sweden (home to  one of the leading Scandinavian ski resorts) is a little over a hundred miles east of Trondheim, Norway. This is a simple and straightforward murder/mystery set in an extremely scenic location. It's about time.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
