Watched 'COMPETENCIA OFICIAL' (Netflix). {Translation "Official Competition}. It is an exquisitely shot and very clever satire on the pretensions of the movie industry. An elderly CEO of a pharmaceutical company wants to create something that will forever be connected to his name. He decides to fund 'the greatest movie ever made'. The film consists of two male super-stars and a female director as they create 'Art'. Ex. Director shreds all of their awards in a 'wood chipper' (?) while the two actors are Saran wrapped together; Endless retakes of 'Good Evening' to convey the correct meaning; Director watches hundreds of headshots to find 'extras'; 'Look at that old lesbian'...'Oh, that's my wife'; "I'm dying of cancer" and it was just to prove what a 'great' actor that he was. In the end, one actor plays both men as identical twins; with Penelope Cruz, Antonio Banderas, Oscar Martinez. 4 wins & 13 nominations. "79" Metascore and that's about where I'd put it. It was a real feast for the eyes.  

More 'MOGURA' (Netflix). {Mogura means 'mole' in Japanese}. I shut it down 16 minutes into episode #3. I can't determine the film's point of view.  Will the series promote the current anti-cannabis policy of the Japanese government or is it a plea for decriminalization and making weed legal? 

1135am: The PC is 'Off' and the plan is to workout at Planet Fitness. Then, up the hill to check out dish racks at The Dollar Store and then to Ace to buy a bit of grass seed.

The clinic left word and I called the clinic from the car.  No nurse available and they will call back with the lab results [no callback & they close at 5pm] . I drove to the Dollar Store and they had a perfect dish holder, but it was too big. I got grass seed plus peat & fertilizer at Ace: for one price: $17.

Reading SciFi anthology & waiting for the call from the clinic, but it got to be after 5pm.

Finished BILLY CORGAN on 'CLUB RANDOM'.

More 'MOGURA' (Netflix). I shut it down 17 minutes into episode #5. The two rival factions are now united under one banner of Hip Hop....or something. The 'cannabis farm' doesn't look real and the plants are clearly not weed.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. Finished 'SIGNS' (Netflix). Clearly the drama hasn't ended, and I hope there will be infinite new seasons. {No such luck. I couldn't find anything about a third season}.
