Up 645am: This should be about the last of the blast furnace heat and humidity. Today temperatures will hit the low 90's and 'feels like' will reach the triple digits. 

On Saturday night I went to bed with 'mild to pretty bad' heartburn and it caused an undue amount of anxiety. I bought a bunch of antacids yesterday afternoon and I took one last night and I don't think that it was necessary. Saturday night was just a 'one time occurance' and I'm not getting acid reflux or some other dire medical condition.  

Watched 'INSOMNIA' (Amazon Prime). A Swedish detective and his partner go to Norway to investigate the murder of a teenage girl. It's 'The Season of The Midnight Sun' and he can't sleep. The cops find the girl's backpack, but go on TV to tell the community to be on the lookout for the bag. They stake out the shed (where the bag was found) hoping the killer will return to pick up the dead girl's bag. The killer shows up and the area is blanketed in heavy fog and the disoriented cop accidentally shoots his partner. The film is a psychological portrait of a man under pressure with a terrible secret and sleep is impossible; with Stellan Skarsgard. Filmed in Tromso, Norway which is in the far northeastern part of the country.  

Watched 'THE LADY IN THE CAR WITH GLASSES AND A GUN' (Amazon Prime). A naive secretary is told by her boss to take his family to the airport and then drive the car back to Paris. Along the way she decides to go to the seashore for the first time in her life and during her trip she meets people who claim that they know her. But the biggest surprise is when she learns that there is a dead body in the trunk of the Thunderbird. It's a reasonably interesting Film Noir and her boss is behind all the shenanigans. The stunning redheaded actress (Freya Mavor) in the vintage T-Bird on France's Gold Coast made it well worth a look.

Around noon I noticed a guy on the front lawn of the abandoned house next door. He was peering at the 'widow maker' in the tree. He was driving a maroon pickup and only stayed a few minutes. I wonder what's in the works?

More 'THE ECHOES OF SURVIVORS: Inside Korea's Tragedies' (Netflix). I shut it down 20 minutes into episode #6. This segment deals with a kidnapping gang in Seoul that murders their victims. Then the bodies are mutilated and the remains are burned in a handcrafted incinerator. These guys are more bloodthirsty than their counterparts in Mexico.

Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
