Weekly Cleaning

Watched 'ESPIRAL DE MENTIRAS' {'The Illusion of Control' AKA 'Spiral of Lies'} (Amazon Prime). A rich Russian businessman runs down a pregnant woman and then learns that he has a brain tumor and has two months to live. THE REVEAL: He had just emerged and completely immersed in a 'movie in his head'. A company named 'Neuroglass' allows the user to put on glasses and then become part of a completely different reality. I'm shocked that not one professional reviewer saw and commented on this film, yet many 'customers' at IMDB were heaping praise.  Philip K. Dick & 'BLACK MIRROR' seemed to be what they were going for, and they nailed it. This is a small gem of a film. "Do not  believe anyone, even yourself". It's a Russian produced film shot in Ukraine and Germany.

Watched 'ONE ROAD TO QUARTZSITE' (Amazon Prime).  It's a documentary about a camping area twenty miles from the California border on Interstate 10 in Arizona. "Two thousand people live in Quartzsite, Arizona during the summer, and the population blossoms to one million during the winter".  A lot of the film dealt with the homeless that live there because it's cheap and run by the BLM (Bureau of Land Management). It looked pretty sketchy. 

1230pm: The PC is 'Off' and preparing for a visit to Planet Fitness.

110pm: To Planet Fitness...45"Cross, 45"Treadmill, 30"Recumbent Bike, 30"Cross;  watched 'NIGHT ALWAYS COMES' (Netflix)- A troubled young woman and her mentally challenged brother try to raise $25,000 in a night of madness or else they will have the bank foreclose on their home.; with Vanessa Kirby, Zack Gottsagen, Jennifer Jason Leigh. "62" Metascore and I would boost that to "78";  an episode of '48 HOURS' (Amazon Prime)- A man kills his wife and a family friend and tries to make it seem like a botched robbery.  It seemed very similar to the double murder on Westview. 

To Dollar General up the hill for 1) Tums; 2) acid prevention medicine: $7.00

More 'THE ECHOES OF SURVIVORS: Inside Korea's Tragedies' (Netflix).  I shut it down 15 minutes into episode #5. This story doesn't involve a Chrisitian group, but concerns a gang that was kidnapping and killing random people. Korea seems to be a violent and turbulent place teeming with Christian fundamentalists. Random Observation: Religious intolerance and binary reasoning is becoming dangerously popular here in the US.

Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
