Watched 'LILIES NOT FOR ME' (Amazon Prime). A gay man has his lover preform a surgical procedure on him 'to remove his gayness'. I didn't really understand what was going on until the end of the film. Before the final credits: "An unreported number of homosexual men were subjected to testicular transplants in the 1910's and 1920's. The doctor behind this procedure was nominated for the Nobel Prize six times before this work was discredited".  

Watched 'BLUE RUIN' (Amazon Prime). A modestly engaging story of revenge. A man awaits the release from prison of the man who killed his parents. He sneaks into the man's release party at a roadside tavern and fatally stabs his quarry in the men's room. This provokes the dead man's family to go after everyone in the killer's family. Not a lot of dialogue, yet the tension didn't let up.  "78" Metascore and that's about where I'd put it. From 'TIME OUT':"The result is a film that starts with a bang and ends with a shrug, but keeps us entertained throughout."

Finished episode #4 of 'THE GARDENER' (Netflix).

Finished MIKE LAWRENCE and MIKE VECCHINONE on 'WE MIGHT BE DRUNK'.

Dropped the 'THE GARDENER' (Netflix) and began 'SARA: Woman In The Shadows' (Netflix). I shut it down 19 minutes into episode #2. Another female cop who is smarter than anyone on the force and her 'special power' is that she can read lips better than anyone on the planet. Another thing that sets her apart is that she abandoned her son when he was only seven. It's not clear why she left, but it was either Love or the formation of a special police unit

Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
