Spent some time searching 'THE CHEESE STANDS ALONE' for the entry that documented the death of the woman next door. Sa 2/15/25...it's only been a year.

Watched 'THE BLACK PHONE' (Netflix). The movie is a kooky blend of 'dreams & spirituality' intertwined with a storyline featuring a serial killer of young teenage boys. None of it makes much sense {ex. The killer keeps his kidnap victims in a house and when he kills them, he buries them in a house across the street that he also owns. The killer doesn't think that the cops would canvas the neighborhood?}. If you're not too critical of the plot points, it's a wild ride. Ten wins & 18 nominations. I didn't realize that Ethan Hawke played 'The Grabber' until the final credits rolled. "65" Metascore and I would go to 84".

Watched 'WE WANT THE FUNK' (Kanopy). A great film and it really breaks down the nuts & bolts of what makes this musical genre entirely unique.  AN INTERESTING OBSERVATION: Ohio is the birthplace of 'The Funk'. Beginning in the 50's blacks exited the American South to escape Jim Crow Laws and sought more opportunity in the industrial towns of the Midwest. In Ohio the public school system made 'learning an instrument' mandatory, and all of these new musicians formed bands. Also, they hint that the use of turntables in Rap was because there were no student band programs because Reagan had them all cut as 'waste & fraud'. Also,  George Clinton recounts that when Bernie Worrell was in Funkadelic he used a synthesizer bass and modeled his bass parts on what were played on King Crimson and Emerson, Lake, and Palmer records. Worrell was very much in touch with the best of progressive rock and not just influenced by soul music alone. Clinton says that the word 'Funkadelic' is a combo of 'Funk' & 'Psychedelic'. How come that never occurred to me?

A young guy knocked on the door and I almost shined him on, but when I found out he was handling bathroom remodeling, I reconsidered. I made the appointment for estimates and he said that his supervisor would be by in a few minutes. This guy showed up in five minutes and repeated the appointment details. And, ten minutes after that, somebody called from the home office for another confirmation- 1pm on Tuesday 2/17.

More 'THE ACCIDENT' (Netflix). I shut it down 28 minutes into episode #3. The prison break is completely unrealistic, but the major characters and the revenge plot is starting to make a little more sense. I'm almost halfway through season #2 and I think season #1 was slightly better. How do you follow death & destruction on a 'bouncy-castle' at a kid's party....{paid for by a 'bouncy' check}.
