Up 725am: Partly cloudy & breezy with temps to 90 degrees! Strong storms for late tonight that could include everything from tornadoes to volcanoes. 

***7pm: Checking the radar it looks like 'battle conditions' after 8pm through early morning. 

***three of the tiny tan colored laxatives were just a little too much, however I am 'cleared'. Tomorrow I will back off to 2 for the beginning of the bathroom remodel. 945am: an attack of diarrhea that was just as strong as a 'pre-colonoscopy' flush. This is not helping the anxiousness of not having a bathroom for most of tomorrow.   

Watched 'THE DONNER PARTY' (Hoopla). {A film by Ric Burns}. "The Donner/ Reed Party": James Reed was a prominent Springfield business man who had made his fortune, but was convinced that he could make much more in the far west. In the last part of the journey he killed a man and was banished from the wagon party. However, he made it over the pass to their destination by October of 1846 and helped organize relief efforts. He personally rescued his wife and some of his children. Hastings was a dreamer from Ohio that believed he could become a 'leader' in the California/ Oregon territories. His advertisement of 'heaven on earth' was speculation at best and  'Hastings Cutoff' was complete fiction. Believing this lie was the primary reason that the Donner/ Reed Party was the only wagon train that did not make it to the fort that season. Had they not taken 'Hasting's Cutoff', they probably would have made it. All of the Donners perished and all of the Reeds survived. The entire ordeal lasted almost exactly one year from the day that they departed from Springfield. The winter of 1846 featured the most horrendous snowstorms ever recorded in that area of California. Nearly one half of approximately 90 people in the Donner/ Reed Party died in their journey. "Are you men from California or do you come from heaven"?..."Never take no cutoffs, and hurry along as fast as you can"- Virginia Reed.  

I borrowed 'BERNADETTE LAFONT: AND GOD CREATED THE FREE WOMAN (Hoopla) and I'll watch it sometime between now and Sunday morning.  

Began 'AUM: THE CULT AT THE END OF THE WORLD' (Kanopy).     'State Shinto'- After WWII the US occupiers abolished the government support of Imperial Japanese practices that relied on Shinto belief to support a nationalistic ideology. They wanted to promote religious freedom and remove The Emperor from the central focus. However, many Japanese believed that 'emperor worship' was not bad and could encourage national unity. Authorities allowed AUM to get away with some of his nefarious practices because they didn't want to get into a 'State vs. Religion' fight in the media. I shut it down with 59 minutes remaining, and I'll finish it tonight or tomorrow morning. 

1205pm: The PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk in Washington Park and south to Outer Park.

Finished 'VICTIM' & began 'PRENTICE ALVIN: THE TALES OF ALVIN MAKER III' by ORSON SCOTT CARD.

540pm:  In the tub with 'PRENTICE ALVIN' and listening to PAUL BUTTERFIELD BLUES BAND- 'Mojo Working'; PARLIAMENT- 'Masters Collection'; PAUL WELLER Playlist. 

Checked the radar maps and it looks dire through 2am. Why is it always 'battle conditions' before I have to do something?  Now there is an added layer of fuckativity to the bathroom remodel; electricity is off, roads blocked due to flooding, trees blocking the road..."I can't make it today from Peoria because of the volcanoes,  can we do it another day?"  

Finished 'AUM: THE CULT AT THE END OF THE WORLD' (Kanopy). I was surprised that the Japanese authorities executed all of the top people in the organization. I don't think that would have happened in the US.  

915pm: Shutting down a little early so that I will be ready for the remodel tomorrow. I hope the nasty weather passes us by and the project can proceed. I'm already sick to death of this.
