Watched 'PREPARATIONS TO BE TOGETHER FOR AN UNKNOWN PERIOD OF TIME' (Hoopla). It's a very odd Hungarian Art Film. A female Hungarian brain surgeon practicing in the US and meets a fellow surgeon at a conference in New Jersey. They hook up and agree to meet in one month in Budapest. When they meet he claims that he doesn't know her. For most of the film you wonder if it actually happened, or if it was all in her imagination. In the end we learn that he was married with two daughters and he didn't want an affair to disrupt his life. He gives his lover an expensive speaker system (to make up for the misunderstanding?) and the movie ends as delivery men employ a crane to hoist a huge speaker cabinet through a window in her apartment many floors up. Weird Scene: During a brain operation the patient is conscious and reading a tablet computer. They are monitoring his cognitive skills while the surgeons suture & cut. "71" Metascore and I would go to "77". From 'SLANT MAGAZINE'- "Lili Horvát’s film delights in wallowing in ambiguity, contradiction, and doubt."   

At 810am I tried to borrow another book at Hoopla, but the library had already reached the limit. 

Watched 'BUSTER'S MAL HEART' (Kanopy). The night manager of a small hotel in Montana meets a strange man who seems to know the secrets of the universe. The two men come up with a novel plan to rob the guests, but after the stranger murders the clerk's wife and child it seems like reality has shifted and nothing is normal. It's just a 'bug in the system' and the stranger was 'the exterminator' who came to make things right. In the end the clerk washes up on a beach where his wife and daughter are alive and playing at the water's edge; with Rami Malek, DJ Qualls, Lin Shaye. "63" Metascore and I would go to "79". From 'THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER'- "An affecting brain teaser with echoes of Lynchian dissociation".  

More 'GLORIAVALE' (Amazon Prime). I finished the episode 'Birth' and the final chapter is about 'A Woman's Place'. The series never mentions the sexual misconduct by the 'elders' that destroyed the community...Of course not.  

More 'NARCOS' (Netflix). I shut it down 15 minutes into episode #6 of season #2. Demonstrable proof that The War On Drugs was an abject failure and wrong from the beginning. Legal drugs with intelligent user information would result in much less societal pain. If you leave a multibillion dollar industry to cops & gangsters, this is what you get. 

1220pm: The PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk on the treadmill.

1245pm:  FIVE MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND ZERO SLANT; TUESDAYS WITH STORIES.

540pm: In the tub with 'THE PARABLE OF THE SOWER' and listening to THE MOVE- 'Looking On'; THE THREE O'CLOCK Playlist; THE HEAVY- 'The House That Dirt Built'.

Finished MARK NORMAND on CHRIS DISTEFANO & began MATT CUSKER on 'TYSO' (with Bandit).

***Memorial Day fireworks began about 915pm and for a while I thought it was part of the soundtrack. I watched the 'last blast' (928pm) from the windows by the dinette. 

More 'LEGENDS' (Netflix). I shut it down 37 minutes into episode #5. I could finish this tomorrow morning; under two hours remain.

A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home.
