***620am: They hauled away the full trash receptacle from the driveway at the abandoned house. A little early? Yesterday's storms were a bit of a bust. Only an inch of rain fell on Westview and we had stronger winds in the storm last week. Although there is no denying that yesterday's sky looked deadly and it really looked like severe damage by wind or rain was imminent. Maybe it's the worst that I can remember.   

Watched 'MR. NOBODY AGAINST PUTIN' (Hoopla). A middle school teacher in a tiny Russian city (known for a successful copper smelting plant- 'The World's Most Polluted City') documents the militarization of his school and the general population during Russia's war with Ukraine. Although the teacher had to leave the country (sedition & treason), his low budget film demonstrates how a small tight knit community can be duped into fascism; "The teachers' duty is to bend young minds to the aims of the regime", "We should not kill out of hate, but for the love of our future children and grandchildren";  The film doesn't put the community down, but shows the insidious pull of state sanctioned propaganda. In fact, it seemed like most (?) of the town went along with the new authoritarian curriculum and the mobilization of the general populace. Why do the poor and the desperate love flag waving and bombs bursting in air? 

Watched the first episode of 'AMERICAN GODFATHERS: THE FIVE FAMILIES' (Netflix). I shut it down 55 minutes into the first chapter; 35" remain. When authorities ignore society's demand for booze, drugs, & sex, the 'the mob/ greedy capitalists' then move to satiate these desires. In the process they rake in millions and accrue immense political & social influence. If the government allowed sales and only taxed and evaluated, then there would have been no mafia. Making it illegal only makes the goods or services more desirable and the illicit transactions more lucrative. America's 'War On Drugs' is another example of employing the same wrongheaded strategy that has never worked.

Raking roof next door, but not the front of the house where vegetation is growing in the roof gutters and a woman was using a blower on the leaves on my side of the house. These people do not prioritize very well at all.
