Another dire prediction from The Weather Channel:

"Becoming windy with strong thunderstorms likely this afternoon. Storms could contain tornadoes. High 83F. Winds SSW at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 70%." I'm getting sick of the catastrophic and frightening weather forecasts every other week. The old 'Tornado Alley' weather pattern has most definitely moved east and seems it's now located right over Sangamon County. 

Watched 'DENIAL' (Netflix). The film concerns a British trial about a holocaust denier who sues an American author for libel. In her book she demonstrated how Nazi policy decisions led to the extermination of millions of Jews.  The evidence was overwhelming and she would not debate a holocaust denier because it would be like debating someone who believed that Elvis Presley was still alive. An excellent metaphor used by the defense: "If a waiter claims that he occasionally makes unintentional mistakes on the bill, then he must lose money some of the time. If he always gains money, then it shows that he's doing it on purpose and it's not an honest mistake, but intentional falsification".

10am: The skies had turned black as the inside of your head and I noticed that trucks were on the street to remove the branch piles at 940 Westview. They even raked and soon the heavy rains should wash the street sparkling clean. I was watching 'Ryan Hall, Y'all'...We are in the 'bullseye' of the severe risk and today's storms could be a 'once in a decade' occurrence. It's a perfect setup for tornadoes and wind gusts far in excess of 50 mph. This evening does not look good.

I got a forwarded email from Melissa about Janny's condition. She is riddled with cancer and it doesn't look good- Stage 4. I think I'm going to shut it down and give her a call. 

1040am: PC is 'Off' and I'll make the call and then I don't know what I'll do. 

Talked an hour & a half. She is surprisingly upbeat and plans to fight it every step of the way. Strange that she has such an aversion to pain pills because that certainly does not run in the family. 

115pm:  FIVE MILES AT 4.1 PACE AND ZERO SLANT;  an episode of 'FATAL FRAUD'- For the insurance payout a woman poisons her cop husband, and later kills a new husband for the same reason; began JOE LIST & a very unfunny comic on 'STAVVY'S WORLD.

3pm: Weather Radar shows the worst of the storms will be north of Springfield. Heavy rain at 4pm, but I might try to get in the other two miles.

345pm:  [early to avoid the storm] TWO MILES AT 4.1 PACE AND ZERO SLANT; no weed; an old 'TUESDAYS WITH STORIES  

***415pm: TORNADO SIRENS. Calm winds & dark gray sky to the north; no rain yet (435pm).  I watched 'Ryan Hall, Y'all'- has there ever been a more dangerous & widespread weather situation? Strong downpour after 6pm, but we've seen worse.

The whole event was kind of a bust. My rain gauges didn't register over an inch, yet the weather was threatening after 4pm. It's after 8pm and I still haven't heard of an actual tornado touchdown, but the sky over 940 was some of the worst I've ever seen. And, to get the news about 'Stage 4 Lung Cancer' and add this to a 'once in a decade' storm, and you have one of the most upsetting days that I can remember.  830pm: On 'Y'all' I watched a tornado implode a house and blow it onto the road near Effingham, Il. I don't think I'd ever seen anything like that.  

640pm: Short soak & I hope the worst of it is now east of the area; PRETTY THINGS- 'Bare As Bone'.

More 'POLYGAMIST' (Netflix). I shut it down 14 minutes into episode #7. One of the girl's rooms had a poster for 'Amapiano' and I Googled it and found that it's a genre of South African music. I compiled a random mix of Amapiano artists and made a great playlist at Prime.
