 Th 10/1/26

805am (GB: 5/ Maui Wowie). 850am (2-B: Green Crack). 1255pm (GB: 5/ Green Crack). 430pm (GB: 5/ Green Crack). 530pm (GB: 5/ Maui Wowie). 825pm (GB: 5/ Maui Wowie).

Up 710am: Light rain was to begin by late morning but didn't kick in until about 5pm with temps to about 80.

***When I logged on to the upstairs PC it wanted something about the PC 'battery'. The update must be related to laptops, but this is a PC. Does the PC have a battery?

***I tried to pre-register for the appointment on 10/5 and pay the copay of $40 plus the $8.12 that I owe. I will pay when I can get a receipt.

In the middle of the film I wrote up, 'DO WITH ME WHAT YOU WILL' by Joyce Carol Oates for the blog.

Watched '23,000 LIVES' (Netflix). A 'feel good' film about the noble aspirations of youth that draws critical attention to the abject immorality of contemporary laws concerning refugees. European nations have decided to close their borders even though it means the drowning deaths of thousands of displaced persons. The rescuers are out of Malta which is an island off the coast of Sicily and Lampedusa is a small island in the Mediterranean that is the southernmost point of Italy. The refugees are coming from Libya. The ship was called the 'IUVENTA' which translates to 'youth or the age of youth'. They were busted by Italian authorities for 'human trafficking', but they were found not guilty (after the trial went for seven years).

Used the rice cooker for brown rice; first time- very chewy.

More 'THE PERFECT LIE' (Netflix). One of the couples has two sons named Luke and Beau. I shut it down 13 minutes into the sixth episode and just under two hour remain. I could finish the series tomorrow morning and I'll open up a new foreign series tonight {THE EVIL LAWYER}.

1240pm:  The PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk on the treadmill.

1pm: FIVE MILES AT 4.1 PACE AND ZERO SLANT;

Weights: 3 sets/ 15 reps dumbbells & barbells.

Reading 'THE UNCONSOLED'

435pm:  TWO MILES AT 4.1 PACE AND ZERO SLANT; watched an 'ALLEGEDLY' (Netflix).

535pm: Spent the entire session listening to Henry Threadgill and I ordered his autobiography at Kindle; "EASILY SLIP INTO ANOTHER WORLD: A LIFE IN MUSIC": $11.00; and listening to HENRY THREADGILL SEXTETT Playlist.

More JEFF ARCURI on 'WHISKEY GINGER'.

Began 'ELITE FORCE' (Netflix).  The series is about the French "GIGN' which is an elite tactical and special operations unit of the French National Gendarmerie. Deploy domestically or to protect French interests abroad.

Th 10/2/25- WYNK

Th 10/2/25 8am (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse). 10am (1-B: Citrus Mac). 1220pm (2-LB: Citrus Mac). 535pm (1-LB: Citrus Mac). 810pm (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse).  Up 715am: {took a dump at 4am}. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80". From RogerEbert.com: "In its style, “Magpie” is a marital thriller with noir trappings galore, including an almost ridiculously convoluted (y...

Fr 10/3/25- Brandenburgs/ Gummy  735am (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse). 820am (3 hits-B: Citrus Mac).  1215pm [I took 1/3 of 'VIIA' 100 mg: 33 mg total].(1-LB: Citrus Mac).  240pm (4 hits-B: Diablo's Hearse). 435pm (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse). 530pm (1-LB: Citrus Mac). 815pm (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse).  Up 630am: Rain was "in the area", but missed Westview and more sunny & unseasonably warm weather with temps close to 90. {No rain in a long time & it's getting crunchy}  About 730am several 'tree trimming' trucks arrived and parked just down the street. I first thought that they were for the house across the street, but it looks like the action is farther down the road. They disappeared by 10am and I think they were at the house 'with the indoor whirlpool'.  Watched 'UPGRADE' (Netflix).  A very fine 'Dystopian/ SciFi' genre film about a couple in Melbourne ("in a not too distant future") who are in their 'auto...

Borrowed 'HOLY COW' and 'TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH' from Hoopla to meet my quota for September. Watched 'HOLY COW' (Hoopla). A troubled teen and his young sister try to make a go of it on their farmstead dairy after their father dies. It's got a strange tone and far from an average 'coming of age' tale. Set in far eastern France near the rural villages of Pimorin and Orgelet which are about 75 miles west of Geneva, Switzerland. "83" Metascore and I would go to "91".  Watched 'BEYOND TRAINSPOTTING: The World Of Irvine Welsh' (Kanopy). An excellent profile of t...
