Fr 5/31/19- New Bike Wheel/ Bike Rack

Fr 5/31/19 Up 620am; party sunny with temps to low 80's. Watched Netflix disc, 'FREE SOLO' This is my favorite kind of documentary. It concerns a subject that did not interest me, but watching the film was a completely riveting experience. Alex Honnold is the free solo champion of the world, and the film is about his successful climb of El Capitan at Yosemite-  "Imagine having to compete for an Olympic gold medal, and if you make one single mistake, you die". Then, the next episode of 'SNEAKY PETE' (Amazon Prime). Watched the last part of the 'Foundation' conversation on YouTube with Adam Driver. 1115am: mowed the lawn. Done in just over an hour- not much raking required. Got a text from Biketek and I didn't understand what Jeff? was saying. Although it was clear that there was a problem with the rear wheel. It needed replacement and that would be $115. I thought in the text that he was saying that he could get a replacement by ...

Th 5/30/19

Th 5/30/19 Up 615am; pretty sore today, but the knot on my left hip bone is going down. Sunny and to high 70's. Watched 'RONIN' (Amazon Prime) Some of the best car chases ever recorded on film! Mixed reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, but I disagree. I loved the fact that 'what's in the case?' is never revealed; Robert De Niro/ Jean Reno/ Natascha McElhone/ Stellan Skarsgard. 11am: Biked to Biketek to have the wheel straightened. He didn't have a tech on duty to work on any bike (strange!), but he said it would be ready tomorrow by 11am. A bent wheel is fixed by adjusting the tension on the spokes. No spokes were broken, but he didn't mention a price. I asked if he carried bike racks and he said that they had a very good model for sixty bucks: for two bikes. I checked online at Walmart and their single racks were fifty. I told him to go ahead and put me down for one, and when I pick up the bike they'll put the rack and the bike on the Elantra. He ord...

We 5/29/19- Bike/ Car Accident at Fairway

We 5/29/19 Up 630am; rain last night and more expected late this afternoon; to mid 80's. Entered the Product Code for the new PC with no problem. However, I couldn't get the Windows Media Player to play the Netflix disc: 1) Put the disc in the PC. Uses VLC media player pinned to Start Menu 2) Open 'This PC' on the Windows 3) It will display a player Watched Netflix disc, 'WE DON'T BELONG HERE' Catherine Keener and Elvis Presley's granddaughter. Dysfunctional family- 4 kids; 2 bipolar girls (one is a pop star), 1 gay son, and 1 'normal' girl. Too Art House, and the ending made no sense- they're all waiting for a sailboat? Why? Then watched 'DEUCES WILD' (Amazon Prime- this will be dropped on 5/31, so I'll check it out) Rival gangs, The Deuces and The Vipers, duke it out on the mean streets of Brooklyn, 1958; Stephen Dorff/ Brad Renfro/ Matt Dillon/ Debbie Harry/ James Franco 110pm: bike to FitClub West 45" Oc...

Tu 5/28/19- Sundown One AT Ten AM

Tu 5/28/19- Sundown One AT Ten AM Up 7AM; partly cloudy, to mid 80's. Watched 'THE JONESES' (Freedive) David Duchovny/ Demi Moore  The perfect, upscale suburban family is not what they seem- they're really just a marketing team designed to 'up-sell' the neighborhood. I called Sundown One and spoke with Mike. He apologized and said that'The System' shouldn't have allowed him to book the install on a holiday and that the text was just automatic and I'd get the first installation appointment today. 930am: Hope to finish the film before they arrive. The film ended just as they pulled into the driveway at 10am. The installation went fine and they didn't have to move the rack. However, they didn't bring the sound bar. They went back to get it, and shortly the sales rep called and said that the reason they didn't bring it was because the unit has not arrived at the store. He said it would be a couple of days, and I was anxious beca...

Mo 5/27/19- Sundown One at 1pm, BUT NO SHOW.

Mo 5/27/19- Sundown One at 1pm. Up 630am; partly sunny, a slight chance of rain- to low 80's. Wrote the 'Weekly Wrap' And then, 'WE OWN THE NIGHT'  The title is a slogan that the NYC street cops used during the 80's in the city's War On Drugs. The film is an emotionally intense film about a brother who runs a Brooklyn nightclub that's a hotbed of drug activity and how this conflicts with his father and older brother who are senior officials in the police force; Mark Wahlberg/ Joaquin Phoenix/ Robert Duvall/ Eva Mendes/ Danny Hoch. Then watched the next, 'SNEAKY PETE' (Amazon Prime). Then a little exploring on Freedive. I created a Watchlist, although not sure it's connected to Freedive. 115pm: PC on sleep and I await. I read the book of essays about women in extreme religions until just before 3pm. I called the store and learned that they were closed for Memorial Day. Why the fuck did I get a text yesterday saying that "Ben...

Su 5/26/19

Su 5/26/19 Up 630am; humid, overcast, strong chance of rain late this morning and afternoon, but by 5pm all was mostly sunny and perfect- to mid 80's. Very happy to learn that the downstairs soundbar is Bluetooth, and now I can listen to my Amazon Music/ Google Play over the speaker. Watched 'THE PERFECTION' (Netflix) A prestigious academy for female cellists is really a den of sexual abuse. The film can be viewed as a lurid slasher/ revenge flick about all the coaches, teachers, priests, and any adults in positions of authority who abuse children. Removed the album frames over the PC and covered the holes. That white goop works perfectly! Then, 'DADDY'S HOME 2' (Amazon Prime) Part amusing and part corny. Two Dads co-parent with their wives and one Christmas the grandfathers are invited for one big celebration with all of the blended families; Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg/ Mel Gibson/ John Lithgow/ Linda Cardellini. Then, another 'SNEAKY PETE'...

Sa 5/25/19

Sa 5/25/19 Up 630am; cloudy and warm, humid- showers forecast throughout the day; to 80. Watched Netflix disc, 'ALBERT NOBBS' Glenn Close was in the off-Broadway play in 1980, and the film retains the theatrical flavor in addition to some great ensemble acting. Not so much a Gay film, but more about what constitutes a person. Began 'BLOWN AWAY' (Amazon Prime) Jeff Bridges is on the Boston police bomb squad and a criminal bomber from his Irish past resurfaces; Tommy Lee Jones/ Forest Whitaker/ Lloyd Bridges as Jeff's father. Noon: will save the last hour for tonight and I mowed the lawn. Mowed the lawn and raked (not much) and on the bike to the Wabash PO/ Planet Fitness around 145pm. On the way I realized that I wrote a note to the federal pension that the other heir, Janet Worden...but, when I got there, I asked if they had tape so that I could open the envelope and change it to 'Janet Brandenburg/ Worden'. No problem. 45" Walk (THE OA). 4...

Fr 5/24/19

Fr 5/24/19 Up 615am; mostly sunny- to upper 80's. Received Janny's life insurance check from MetLife and the plan is to bike to 19th and drop it in their mailbox if they aren't home. Watched 'WINE COUNTRY' (Netflix) 'HUNGOVER' for middle aged women. Female friends go to a winery in Napa Valley for a "Five-Oh" Birthday Bash, and truths are revealed. Kind of a cliche, but some very funny moments. aThen, 'IN THE ELECTRIC MIST' (Amazon Prime) Tommy Lee Jones as Dave Robicheaux, and Kelly McDonald/ Peter Sarsgaard/ John Goodman/ Levon Helm/ Buddy Guy/ John Sayles. A serial killer is working the bayou while a film company is shooting a civil war movie. Any thing by James lee Burke is alright with me. 1210pm: on the bike to deliver the check to The Brandenburgs. Arrived about 1pm and I had brought the paperwork for my share of the old man's last pension payment. This is different from his last social security payment. Joe had the ...

Th 5/23/19- Permanent Cap- 3pm

Th 5/23/19- Permanent Cap- 3pm Up 6am; warm, mostly sunny- to 80. Watched Netflix disc, 'A SIMPLE FAVOR'  Anna Kendrick is hilarious in this film about a web-blogger who becomes involved with a conniving suburban super-mom. "Please pick up my son from elementary school", and this unleashes an absurd series of deadly events. Cleared the documents from living room PC; moved to Dropbox and the memory stick on the PC desk. 1115am: a walk to the Dollar Store at Fairhills.  Back home by noon; new sheets (nine bucks!)/ incense/ eye drops/ toothpaste/ mouthwash/ hemorrhoid ointment. Watched 'ROMEO IS BLEEDING' (Amazon Prime)    "A womanizing, crooked cop on the payroll of the mafia is confronted with the reality of his double life after he is asked to kill a beautiful and ruthless Russian gangster"; with Gary Oldman/ Juliette Lewis/ Lena Olin/ Will Patton. A classy neo-noir gangster thriller with a fantastic jazz soundtrack. On the road to the d...

We 5/22/19- Contemporary Book Club

We 5/22/19- Contemporary Book Club Up 6am; mostly sunny, breezy, and much warmer- low 80's. Watched 'NIGHT MOVES' (Amazon Prime) Jesse Eisenberg/ Peter Sarsgaard/ Dakota Fanning. Three eco-terrorists blow up a dam near Medford, Oregon; slow paced, yet powerful. Then, the next episode of 'SNEAKY PETE' (Amazon Prime) 1115pm: skimming 'THE LEAVERS' and will head to FitClub West and then to the meeting at six. 2pm- on the machines. 45" Octane (THE MELVINS). 45" Walk (Reality TV all workout). 45" Cross. 30" Walk. 30" Cross. Whirlpool/ pool. To meeting by 540pm. Only seven at the meeting, and everyone generally liked the book, "The Leavers". 'The Church Lady' did not. Home to watch 'CHERRYBOMB'- (Amazon Prime) Two guys and a girl try to establish who is Top Dog in this Scottish film. The boys work at 'TITANIC - Leisure Sports Center', and they both want to score with the owner's daughter ...

Tu 5/21/19

Tu 5/21/19 Up 630am; rain last night, today cloudy and windy- to 60's. Over an inch of rain predicted for tonight. Hope there's no water downstairs. Watched Netflix disc, 'DHEEPAN' (Palme d'Or winner, Cannes Film Festival- 2015) A Tamil- Sri Lankan Freedom Fighter, a local woman, and a nine year old girl meet in a refugee camp and pose as a family to flee the country. They end up in suburban France in a low income housing project where Dheepan works as a janitor. Local drug gangs make their lives almost as dangerous as the civil war from which they fled. A truly extraordinary film! The actor that played Dheepan was an ex- Tamil fighter who was a writer and playwright in the revolutionary movement and lived as a refugee in France. Tamil (Tom-ill)- Hindu vs. Sinhalese- Buddhist in Sri Lanka- Ceylon; 75% of population is Sinhalese, 'White Van Disappearances'. Then watched the next two episodes of 'SNEAKY PETE' (Amazon Prime). Wrote a rather...

Mo 5/20/19

Mo 5/20/19 Up 6am; partly sunny, but cooler- temps only to low 60's. To utilize the speaker bar I will try to connect it to the PC downstairs, and then use those speakers on the DVD/TV. And, there is a very tall board in the garage that I think that I can cut a piece to 'bridge the gap' between the wall shelves. Watched 'AMERICAN PASTORAL' (Amazon Prime) A heavy-handed presentation of one of Philip Roth's later novels. Just after WWII a Jewish vet seems to have it all. He's married a runner-up to Miss New Jersey, runs his father's successful glove factory, and he lives on a country estate far from the troubled city of Newark. However,  all is not paradise. The daughter that he adores becomes entangled in the violent anti-war movement of the late 60's and he is powerless to get her back; directorial debut for Ewan McGregor, with/  Jennifer Connelly/ Dakota Fanning/ Molly Parker. Then watched about forty minutes of 'DIRTY' (Sony Crackle...

Su 5/19/19- Mattress Delivery; At the Crack of Two PM

Su 5/19/19- Mattress Delivery; At the Crack of Two PM Up 615am; gray and breezy, much cooler- to low 70's. Watched, 'SHEHERAZADE' (Netflix) Just out of jail, a young man becomes a pimp in Marseille, France and falls in love with one of his prostitutes; won and nominated for numerous European awards. Then, 'WELCOME TO ME' (Amazon Prime) Watched the first half hour then decided to mow the lawn. Kristen Wiig/ Linda Cardellini/ Joan Cusack/ Jennifer Jason Leigh .... Off her meds and wins $58 million in the lottery, so she buys her own TV Talk Show. 11am: on the lawn. Over an hour for mowing and raking, and I even cut back the purple flowering bush next to the front stoop. The entire upper part was dead, so I used my trusty saw. The guys with the mattress were to arrive between 2pm and 4pm, and I got a call at 135pm and they said they would be at 940 by 157pm! They were only here for about fifteen minutes, and they took pictures of the mat that they put down an...

Sa 5/18/19

Sa 5/18/19 Up 620am; partly cloudy with showers this evening and especially late tonight- mid 80's. Watched Netflix disc, 'LOVELY & AMAZING' A brainy soap opera with an abundance of wit and charm. Three sisters; a neurotic actress, a married and unloved mom, and an eight year old adopted black girl with body issues, and their mother is in the hospital after a difficult liposuction procedure; with Catherine Keener/ Emily Mortimer/ Jake Gyllenhaal. Put the new lawn lights on the front lawn. Looks great! And, called Sundown One and finalized the purchase; Installation on Monday, 5/27/19 at 1pm. Tried to connect the soundbar for the downstairs DVD player, but the connecting cord is not even close! Will take this back and get a new cord.....or something. I want this to fucking work! Started a film on Xfinity called 'IN THE CLOUD' watched about half and gave up. Maybe later- it was on Sony Crackle. I might be watching more films on this site since I don...

Fr 5/17/19- New Sound Bar for DVD/ Sundown One- New System/ New PC- BLH

Fr 5/17/19 Up 620am; very warm, partly cloudy- high 80's. Watched 'GOOD WILL HUNTING' (Netflix) Matt Damon's interview with Sam Jones really puts this film into focus. Ben Affleck and Damon had been working on this script for years before it made it to the screen'; with Robin Williams/ Minnie Driver/ Casey Affleck/ Stellan Skarsgard. Then watched, 'SOME GUY WHO KILLS PEOPLE' (Amazon Prime) A well-done Independent about 'Bullying' and 'Revenge'. A Pathetic guy is marking time after being released from a mental institution. He was tortured by his high school basketball team, and never quite recovered. He meets his long-lost daughter, and happens upon a new love interest and his life begins to turn around, except it looks like he has has been murdering the guys who abused him. 'The Twist' is that he didn't do the killing, it was his best friend; Kevin Corrigan/ Karen Black/ Leo Fitzpatrick/. Just as I was closing the computer...

Th 5/16/19

Th 5/16/19 Up 610am; first hot day! Sunny, temps to upper 80's. Watched Netflix disc, 'THE MISEDUCATION OF CAMERON POST' Chloe Grace Moretz/ and the actress from 'AMERICAN HONEY' (Sasha Lane), and the actress from 'SNEAKY PETE'(Marin Ireland).  "How is being forced to hate yourself NOT emotional abuse"? A well-done Independent and effective film, but 'BOY ERASED' was better. Ordered the novel that 'Cameron Post' is based and watched some YouTube videos with the author about the book and film. Why didn't they use the storyline from the book that the Cameron's first lesbian experience happens on the day that her parents are killed in a car accident? The Watched 'THE CELL 2'  Pretty basic police thriller about a female agent who was tortured by a serial killer and now she is able to enter the mind of another person. Give her an object belonging to her target, and she's in like Flynn. And, one of the cops is ...

We 5/15/19

We 5/15/19 Up 7am; partly cloudy- to about 70. Watched, '21 GRAMS' (Xfinity) A brutal traffic accident brings three disparate lives together; Naomi Watts/ Sean Penn/ Benicio Del Toro/ Charlotte Gainsbourg/ Eddie Marsan/ Danny Huston. A moral drama of the highest order! Rewatched the pilot of season 1, 'SNEAKY PETE' (Executive Producer: Bryan Cranston) Paid the card 1215pm: reading, 'THE LEAVERS' and listening to ALLIGATOR RECORDS COMPILATION. 130pm: Biked to FitClub West 45" Octane (AUDIOSLAVE). 45" Walk (Reality TV all Workout). 45" Cross. 30" Walk. 30" Old Style Cross. Read downstairs, 'THE LEAVERS', and listened to Melissa Etheridge. In the tub with an excellent compilation of James Chance and The Contortions on Amazon Prime, and more Adoption/ Foster/ Chinese D...

Tu 5/14/19- New Mattress

Tu 5/14/19 Up 640 am; mostly sunny and warmer; to 70. Watched Netflix disc, 'COLUMBUS'  The small city of Columbus, Indiana is an unlikely mecca for world-class architecture, yet this is the setting for this touching film about  relationships. A famous Korean architectural scholar has had a stroke and his his son is forced interrupt his life to stay with his estranged and ailing father. He meets a young girl who is also stuck in the town to help her recovering drug addict mother. These two characters interact against the wonderful backdrop of the architecture of the city. Very much an art film, but very compelling. Decided that I'd use the money from the insurance policy and the remote start for a bed and a home entertainment center. Checked Verlo and the other bed shop near Best Buy and Sundown One, and will visit them after I head over to Green to get the check, a car wash, and some info about the idiot light. I learned that the light is supposed to be 'on'....

Mo 5/13/19

Mo 5/13/19 Up 640 am; sunny to mid 60's. When I took out the trash, I got in the passenger seat of the Elantra, moved the seat, and the idiot light cleared. After reading the posts, I decided to try this, and it worked! Watched, 'ROMA'  Set in the Colonia Roma neighborhood of Mexico City at the dawn of the 70's. The film documents the turbulent life of an upper-middle class family, and the action is shown through the eyes of, Cleo, one of the family's maids; shot in sumptuous black and white with a stunning concern for class and gender inequalities. The film was nominated for 195 awards and won 186 including the Oscar For Best Foreign Language Film, 2018. Wrote the 'Weekly Wrap' to Janny. Then I watched the first half hour of 'MY LAST YEAR WITH THE NUNS' which is a monologue by Matt Smith about his experiences of being an eighth grader in a Catholic area of Seattle in 1966. 145pm: Mow the lawn/ Hope I can get the mower started. Will try ...

Su 5/12/19

Su 5/12/19 Up 7am; overcast and mist- temps barely out of the 40's. On a YouTube video I learned how to turn off the new speakers. These speakers are keepers! I couldn't be happier. Watched 'ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD' (Xfinity) Christopher Plummer/ Michelle Williams/ Mark Wahlberg. Paul III is kidnapped and is ransomed for $17 million. Grandpa refuses to pay, so mom and the chief negotiator take matters into their own hands and get the boy back. Saw this when it came out and well worth a second look. This film will probably be most remembered for the fact that Kevin Spacey was originally cast to play Getty, but the part went to Plummer after Spacey's sex scandal went public. Listened to 'DUSTY IN MEMPHIS' on the Altec 'baby boom' and it works fantastically. Posted the 'rubber band hack' on the YouTube review. Then watched 'THE BOY DOWNSTAIRS' (Xfinity) A droll and intelligent love story that shrewdly  informs the viewer tha...

Sa 5/11/19- Bluetooth phone speakers; Best Buy

Sa 5/11/19 Up 710am; chilly and rain in the afternoon- mid 50's. Watched 'AMERICAN HONEY' (Netflix)  This is a fantastic film and I saw it on disc when it came out and it's great that Netflix has picked it up for streaming. The viewer is completely subsumed into the sordid world of an organized crew of homeless kids selling magazines door to door. They are oblivious to what's going on and all of them are fucked in too many ways to count. Almost a three hour film, I'll save the last half for tonight. Then, 'THE ACID HOUSE'  Three short stories by Irvine Welsh; (1) a guy loses his place on his soccer team, his parents throw him out, and his girl dumps him- all on the same day. (2) A guy passively accepts his whorish wife when she takes up with the guy that moves into their upstairs apartment. (3) A guy takes acid and he becomes a newborn baby and the baby becomes him. Today has been a real visit to the dregs of society. 130pm: To FitClub West; s...

Fr 5/10/19

Fr 5/10/19 Up 715am; partly cloudy, breezy, chilly; temps to low 60's. Wrote up 'THE VERDICT' for the blog. Watched Netflix disc, 'MARK FELT- THE MAN WHO BROUGHT DOWN THE WHITE HOUSE'. The story of Woodward and Bernstein's infamous whistleblower known as 'Deep Throat'. When I read about Felt I was surprised to learn that Bob Woodward was Felt's contact, and Bernstein didn't know the identity of Felt until the Vanity Fair revelation over thirty years later. Also, in the movie there is no mention that the Felt's also had a son. Then watched, 'CODE OF SILENCE' A true crime film about a Charlestown, MA robbery crew who were hijacking armored cars during the mid 90's in the northeast. Charlestown was the setting for the film about the Oxy Thieves that I watched recently. 2pm: Spent some time in the driveway getting the news channels on Sirius grouped, and then to Wabash PO to mail rebate information to 'Your Spending Acco...

Th 5/9/19

Th 5/9/19 Up 645am; some rain last night;  overcast and light drizzle most of the day- to high 60's and very humid/ chilly. Watched Netflix disc, 'THE CHAMBER' Gene Hackman as a racist Klansman on death row at Parchman, Mississippi for the bombing death of two young children. His grandson is a young Chicago lawyer who tries to prevent the 'state sanctioned murder'. Not bad- with Faye Dunaway who received a 'Razzie' for her performance, but I found it quite believable. Then, 'SEA OF LOVE' (Xfinity) Al Pacino/ John Goodman/ Ellen Barkin/ and Paul Calderon- the cop from 'BOSCH'.  A woman is meeting men on newspaper dating sites and then murdering them. Pacino plays a detective who becomes involved with a woman- Ellen Barkin- that might be the killer. The twist is that the killer is her ex-husband who has been stalking her on her dates. Samuel Jackson has a tiny role in the beginning of the film about a police scam to catch felons- invite t...

We 5/8/19

We 5/8/19 Up 720am; partly sunny, warm (high 70's) with a chance of showers late this afternoon and tonight. Some rain fell last night, but no storms. Watched 'IN TRANZIT' (Amazon Prime)  At the end of WWII fifty-one German prisoners are imprisoned at a female soviet prison camp that was about to be closed. Some of these men have changed their identities and may be Nazi war criminals. John Malkovich is perfect as the evil and cunning Russian general, and Vera Farmiga is expertly cast as the compassionate doctor of the camp.  The storyline moves far too slow, but Malkovich and Farmiga deliver the goods. 1115am: computer is in 'sleep mode' and I'm going to read 'THE VERDICT'. 240pm: windy and warm, biked to LA Fitness. 45" Walk (LUNATICS). 45" Recumbent Bike ('THE VERDICT'). 45" Cross (LUNATICS). 30" Walk (SELLING SUNSET- last episode). 30" Cross (OFF CAMERA- the end of Seth Rogen and the beginning of Weird Al Ya...

Tu 5/7/19- Tom's Plumbing: New Toilet

Tu 5/7/19- Tom's Plumbing: New Toilet Up 645 amm; cloudy, rain in the forecast for the new couple of days; to 70. Watched 'KALIFORNIA' (Amazon Prime) Brad Pitt/ Juliette Lewis/ David Duchovny/ and Kathy Larson- This actress was a lead in a Brad Pitt movie and she's dropped off the map. She hasn't done anything in the film world since the early 90's, and I can't find a trace of where she is today...Strange.   A writer and his photographer girlfriend go on a road trip to California and tour famous murder scenes for a possible book. They take along a couple to help with the driving and pay for gas, and receive a close look at the mind of a psychopath (Brad Pitt at his scummiest). Not bad. Tom's Plumbing arrived right as the 'Ten O'Clock Siren' wailed. He called and left a message, but I didn't get it. Later I learned how to know if I have an audio message on the phone. It's about time! $485 and it looks great, but I wonder if it ...

Mo 5/6/19

Mo 5/6/19 Up 650am; mostly sunny with temps to the mid 70's, however, rain is in the forecast for the next three days. I shut off the fans and put the furniture and the rug back in place downstairs. I hope I'm not dealing with water in the near future. Wrote up 'THE BAT' for the blog. Watched 'LAST SEEN IN IDAHO' (Xfinity) An Indie Thriller that was a pleasant surprise.... A young woman witnesses a gangland murder, shoots a video of it on her phone, and while escaping, suffers a horrible car accident in which she loses her memory. The gang needs that phone and as the story unfolds, they must  kill her to keep her silent. The movie flirts with the idea that her  'near death' experience in the car wreck allows her glimpses of a possible future. Hallie Shepherd wrote and plays the lead in the film. Then sent an email to Janny, 'THE MUCH MALIGNED BUDDY'. Watched two episodes of 'DEAD TO ME' (Netflix). It looks like it will rain ...

Su 5/5/19

Su 5/5/19 Up 645am; partly sunny- low 70's. Watched Netflix disc, 'BECOMING ASTRID' Although the film is about the famous author (Astrid Lindgren) of the Pippi Longstocking series, it has almost nothing to do with her writing career. It actually concerns her plight as a young Swedish woman in the early 1920's who has a child out of wedlock and must leave her son with a foster mother in Denmark. Nethertheless, it's a gripping and fascinating tale. Then watched, 'OXY-MORONS' (Amazon Prime)   "The gritty true-life story of a notorious Boston criminal and his gang who, driven by addiction and greed, commit a series of dangerous robberies during the height of the OxyContin drug trade". Well-done, low-budget film about how greed, oxycontins, and gangs destroyed the city of Charlestown, MA. 1pm: preparing to mow the lawn. Very little raking- I was surprised. On the bike to FitClub West by 230pm; dropped the disc in the box just off of Monroe. 45...

Sa 5/4/19

Sa 5/4/19 Up 7am; partly sunny, to mid 60's. It's significantly drier downstairs. The fans are working, and where they are aimed it is not soaked, but damp. I opened the windows to dissipate the humidity. Maybe I will not have to use another electrical appliance- humidifier. Watched Netflix disc, 'BLACKKKLANSMAN' The first black officer hired by the Colorado Springs Police Department, Ron Stallworth, makes a cold call to the local KKK, pretends to be a white racist, and asks to be a member- He's accepted!  Adam Driver plays 'the white' Ron Stallworth as they infiltrate the local 'invisible empire':  "It's like writing history with lightning": A fantastic film! Purely by chance, I picked out another dynamite Black Film! 'BLIND SPOTTING' (Xfinity) Identity politics, socio/political drama, and racial unrest plague a young man on his last three days on parole for a felony conviction. Collin and Miles work as movers in Oakla...

Fr 5/3/19- SEEPAGE CONTINUES!!!

Fr 5/3/19- SEEPAGE CONTINUES!!! Up 730am; asleep in the chair last night. It looks like I will no longer need the wet vac, but the fans will continue to run for as long as it takes. It could be several days. It looks like we've got three dry days in a row, and then the following three days have rain in the forecast. 50's and cloudy all day. Downloaded, AUDIOSLAVE-'Out of Exile'from Hoopla. Watched 'BODY OF LIES' (Netflix) Leonardo DiCaprio plays a CIA field agent on the ground in the hottest of hot zones in the Middle East, and Russell Crowe plays his handler. Then the first two episodes of, 'DEAD TO ME' (Netflix) Christina Applegate/ Linda Cardellini Two women meet at a grief encounter group. Cardellini's character's lover didn't die, he left her, and Applegate's husband died, and Linda's character...

Th 5/2/19- Tooth Temp Cap- 2pm.

Th 5/2/19-  Tooth Temp Cap- 2pm. Up 730am; No standing water downstairs, but I sucked up about a quarter of a tank. Rain for today, but only .03 inch predicted. No new seepage- Late morning I began running two fans and will run them for as long as it takes- mid to upper 60's. Called Tom's Plumbing (the water heater guys) and got an appointment for May 7th, between 10am and 12pm- stop the leak and possibly a new toilet. Watched 'BASIC INSTINCT' (Xfinity) A San Francisco police detective (Michael Douglas) gets involved with a sexy murder mystery author (Sharon Stone) who just might be the infamous 'Ice Pick Murderer'; Really a first-rate whodunnit! Organized the trunk and the glove box in the Elantra. Put two fans running downstairs. watched a YouTube video, 'POD SAVE AMERICA'. 110 pm: getting ready for the dentist. Then, the 'Y', Walmart for groceries and sundries. 135 pm to the dentist for the temp crown. When I got into the chai...
