Th 2/28/19

Th 2/28/19 Up 645am; overcast and thirties. Watched 'LITTLE FISH' (Amazon Prime) Cate Blanchett plays a recovering heroin addict who manages a video store. She wants a bank loan to expand the store into Internet gaming, but she can't get a bank loan due to no collateral. Her dysfunctional friends and family try to help, but only cause further grief. A very dark and brooding character study with excellent ensemble acting; with Sam Neill/ Hugo Weaving. Ordered a couple of books from Amazon and wasted a huge amount of time with 'eBooksNow' trying to download 'Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine'. It was only four ninety-nine, but the process was impossible. I couldn't get it into the Kindle account and I've emailed a couple of messages to cancel, but so far have heard nada. Watched a short film on Netflix called 'GRASS'  Cam and Jinky are supposed to deliver a backpack of weed, but convince themselves that it would be much better to spen...

We 2/27/19- Contemporary Book Club

We 2/27/19- Contemporary Book Club Up 7am; overcast, breezy, temps to high 30's. The neighbors across the street had something done to the brick trim on the front of their house. Whatever it was, the difference is negligible. Watched 'GOSFORD PARK' (Xfinity) I had given up on seeing this film that starred Kelly McDonald, but I found it on Xfinity. It seems like every English actor that was worth anything was in this 2001 film; over seventy nominations and over thirty wins at the Academy Awards. 1120- re-reading tonight's novel, and the plan is to hit FitClub West and leave there for the meeting downtown. 2pm on the machines at FitClub West. 45" Octane. 45" Walk. 45" Cross. 30" Walk. 15" Old Style Cross. Watched the Cohen investigation by a congressional committee. Shower/ Whirlpool and arrived at the meeting by 530pm. As usual I was early by at least fifteen minutes. Becky gave me a book that she didn't like, but it has a character...

Tu 2/26/19

Tu  2/26/19 Up 6am; sunny, breezy, and temps should crack 40. Wrote up my notes on 'DO NOT BECOME ALARMED' for the blog. Watched 'THE TRUMAN SHOW' (Netflix)  The perfect description of this film's unique genre- ...."social science fiction comedy-drama". I loved the film, and had all but completely forgotten it. Truman Burbank's idyllic life in the community of Seahaven Island Florida is not what it seems.... "In case I don't see you...good afternoon, good evening, and good night"; with Jim Carey/ Laura Linney/ Ed Harris/ Paul Giamatti/ Natascha McElhone/ Noah Emmerich. Then, 'BROADWAY DANNY ROSE' (Amazon Prime) Comedians at the Carnegie Deli reminisce about a legendary New York booking agent, Danny Rose. Danny  once 'acted the beard' for a client, fifties lounge singer, Lou Canova. Lou had to keep his relationship with Tina Vitale (Mia Farrow) secret from his wife. Tina's friends were mobbed up and mayhem ensue...

Mo 2/25/19

Mo 2/25/19 Up 7am; too many beers last night- asleep at the monitor. Today it's cold and sunny with temps to about 30. Wrote the 'Weekly Wrap' to Janny, then watched 'THE DRUG KING' (Netflix).  Set in Busan, South Korea during the 1970s, Lee Doo-sam builds an empire as a drug smuggler in the Busan underworld. It's a fairly straight forward tale with a wry and sardonic tone; Not Bad. Then re-watched most of the Xfinity documentary that I began last night; 'THE FAMILY I HAD'. While at work, a young mother is contacted by the police that her thirteen year old son has stabbed is three year old sister to death. 'NATURE or NURTURE'? Later it's revealed that the boy's grandmother had probably murdered his mother's father. His grandmother headed a large trucking company that was owned and operated by the Georgia Mafia. The film is a harrowing tale of how murder can effect generations in ways that are truly surprising. 110pm- to the ...

Su 2/24/19

Su 2/24/19 Awoke about 330am and downloaded 'DOO- WOP' (Miles Davis) from Hoopla, and then read 'DO NOT BECOME ALARMED' till almost 5am- the wind was howling!! Up 8am; very strong winds last night- thirty mph and gusts to fifty. Sunny and very windy all day; temps to lowers 30's. Watched Netflix disc, 'PUZZLE' Kelly McDonald plays Agnes, a Catholic woman in a traditional marriage in Yonkers, NY who finds the world of competitive puzzling and inadvertently learns that an important piece of her life is missing. A 'coming of age' film about a wife and mother in her forties is rather unusual, but the outstanding performances make it all worthwhile. Irrfan Khan is brilliant as Agnes's puzzle partner and lover, and all of the actors are phenomenal. Then, 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World' (Netflix) I don't remember ever seeing this overlooked gem. Toronto band nerd Scott Pilgrim falls hard for mysterious Ramona Flowers and must fight dea...

Sa 2/23/10- Knox Knolls Auto Repair

Sa 2/23/10- Knox Knolls Auto Repair Up 7am and at the repair shop by 735am. The guy immediately thought that the brake fluid was low. He asked if the brake light had come on. For months I thought that there was a glitch in the electrical system, but I guess it was working fine. There was not enough strength in the brakes to stop me from sliding down the slope of the driveway. He offered to drive me home, but I said I'd walk. Overcast, rain, but temps might crack 50. 820am- Knox Knolls called and I had a leak in the rear brake lining and the front brake pads need replacing. The whole deal will be six hundred plus, and I can pick it up early this afternoon. Do It! 'THE BAD LIEUTENANT' (Xfinity) Harvey Keitel is the very, very bad lieutenant. The rape of a young nun seems to slow his descent into drugs, alcohol, and depravity, but he's just far too gone. One of the best movies of the nineties, and I still can't believe that a black man would have a name lik...

Fr 2/22/19- THE ONE PERCENT SOLUTION

Fr 2/22/19 Up 710am; mostly sunny with temps to the mid 40's. Watched Netflix disc, 'THE FRONT RUNNER'. Gary Hart was the clear front runner for the Democratic party's nominee for the presidential election of 1987, until a sexual affair was uncovered and his candidacy unraveled in just a few days; with Hugh Jackman and Vera Farmiga. How much does the media and the public need to know about a candidate's personal life or is all of it relevant? Spent some time checking that my requests for Netflix were not on Amazon Prime. I was surprised to find that many of the were. 'CONTRACTED' (Xfinity) A low budget vampire flick that really packs a wallop. A young woman has sex with a stranger at a party and by the end of the film she realizes that this marked the beginning of her new life as a vampire. The film is grossly distasteful, yet strangely satisfying. Well worth a look. Wrote an email to Janny suggesting the 'ONE PERCENT CUT FOR JOE'. It was a...

Th 2/21/19

Th 2/21/19 Up 630am; partly sunny and temps to low 40's. Wrote up 'ENTRIES FROM A HOT PINK NOTEBOOK' for the blog. Watched 'DON'T WORRY, HE WON'T GET FAR ON FOOT' (Amazon Prime) I added many more movies to my Watch List. Amazon is not as good as Netflix, but they're making strides! Excellent bio pic of cartoonist John Callahan with Joaquin Phoenix, Jonah Hill, Rooney Mara, Jack Black, Kim Gordon, and Carry Brownstein. Then, 'COMPLETE UNKNOWN' (Amazon Prime)   A woman who has lived multiple identities visits an old boyfriend on his birthday after a fifteen year absence. 'Be all you can be"?  Rachel Weisz, Michael Shannon, Kathy Bates, Danny Glover; thought provoking. 115pm- FitClub West 45" Octane.... During the middle of the exercise Janny called and wanted my social security number. I told her that I didn't want to shout it out in the Club, and I'd text her. In error, I texted Jamie with a message that I didn...

We 2/20/19

We 2/20/19 Up 630am; just a little rain, and no wintry mix- overcast and temps just above freezing to upper 30's. Wrote up 'THE SPRINGFIELD RACE RIOT OF 1908' for the blog. Watched Netflix disc, 'FALLING FROM GRACE' I'm so glad I requested this forgotten gem. John Mellencamp as a country rock star who tires to start life anew in his small hometown in rural Indiana. "You can go home again, but it's probably not going to be like you expected"; screenplay written by Larry McMurtry and directed by Mellencamp. Also features, Mellencamp in the starring role, Claude Akins, Mariel Hemingway, and Kay Lenz who was David Cassidy's first wife. Unhappy to see that this film was offered on Amazon Prime. Before I order a disc from Netflix I should check with Amazon Prime. Then, 'CONTAINMENT' (Amazon Prime) Residents awake one morning to find all services to their apartments have been turned off and the exit doors to the units have been locke...

Tu 2/19/19

Tu 2/19/19 Cloudy with temps to the mid thirties. Watched 'WETLANDS' (Xfinity) Disgraced black detective takes a police gig near Atlantic City to be near his ex-wife and teenage daughter. Ex-wife's girlfriend is a drug dealer and mayhem ensues. Not bad. called Emily to find out Joe's compensation for his work as executor. No real answer- we'll just have to wing it. Watched a Netflix original from New Zealand called, 'THE BREAKER UPPERS'. Two women run a company that's designed to help people remove themselves from undesirable relationships. Similar in approach to such American ensembles as 'Second City', 'The Groundlings', and 'SNL'. Not Bad. Noon- to County Market for the weekly shopping and on to the 'Y' for a workout. A couple of inches of snow and/or ice is due for late tonight and through tomorrow morning. Want to get the chores out of the way so travel tomorrow can be avoided if necessary. Sixty bucks at ...

Mo 2/18/19

Mo 2/18/19 Up 630am; cloudy with temps in the twenties all day and a snow shower is possible. Watched 'WE THE ANIMALS' (Netflix) A Sundance winner about three young brothers in a dysfunctional family. With a Puerto Rican father and a white mother the boys are largely unsupervised and must learn to raise themselves. A very lyrical and impressionistic look at the struggles of children trapped in the thrall of rural poverty; subplot- the youngest brother comes to terms with his gayness. Then, 'YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE' (Amazon Prime) Joaquin Phoenix as a dour and depressed hitman who is contracted to rescue a senator's daughter from a child sex ring. The hitman's actions uncover a netherworld of sexual depravity among the politically powerful. This is very much an art film, yet strikingly original imagery and a beautiful soundscape make it more than worth a look; Jonny Greenwood, Radiohead guitarist does the music. Then, the 'LORENA' that I missed...

Su 2/17/19- Race Riot of 1908

Su 2/17/19 Up 615am; a glaze of wintry mix overnight, and today cloudy and temps close to freezing. Borrowed 'THE LOUNGE LIZARDS' from Hoopla Watched 'AMERICAN GANGSTER' (Netflix) Denzel Washington stars as Frank Lucas, heroin drug kingpin from Harlem who bypassed the middle men and dealt directly with a supplier in Thailand. He is hotly pursued by Russell Crowe who plays Det. Richie Roberts. Crowe's character is so squeaky clean that he turned in over $800,000 that he found at a crime scene. Most NYC cops at the time would have kept to for themselves. Then, 'MY TATTOO ADDICTION' (Netflix) It seems that in England it's very popular to have a person's name tattooed on your skin. I wonder if having yourself tattooed with someones name is that popular in the US? 1210pm- to the library to get a book about the Springfield Race Riot of 1908;  then, to FitClub West. I got to the library at 1230pm, but it doesn't open till 1pm on Sunday. I dr...

Sa 2/16/19

Sa 2/16/19 Up 710am; sunny to low thirties. Watched Netflix disc, 'VENOM' with Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, and I really loved Jenny Slate. I'm not a fan of the comic book/ thriller genre, but this film was a slight cut-above-the-rest because it didn't take itself too seriously. Although the car chases and gun fights added little, I would have recommended less violence and more zaniness. Portraying Eddie and Venom both as losers was a clever idea because it offers a reason why the 'The Host/ Parasite' theme can work- they are compatible because they are both flawed characters. For some reason Xfinity is offering Season One of 'GAME OF THRONES' for free. I watched episode #2, and I'm still not sure why this show was so wildly popular. The episode #3 of Netflix, 'DATING AROUND'. I'm liking this a little more, and learning to accept the absence of the zany nuttiness of Bravo. The Netflix series is more reality based, whereas Bravo...

We 2/13/19

We 2/13/19 Up 715am; mostly sunny to upper thirties. Wrote up 'THE DECEIVERS'- John D. MacDonald for the blog.  Watched 'HIGH FLYING BIRD' (Netflix) Another fine film by Steven Soderbergh. This one is about the fierce and hidden negotiations during an NBA lockout; “they invented a game on top of a game”. Then KEVIN HART'S GUIDE TO BLACK HISTORY (Netflix) Breezy and informative; HIGHLIGHTS- a black man invented the potato chip, a black man was first to the North Pole, open heart surgery was first done by a black man and his superior at Johns Hopkins hogged the credit, and Josephine Baker was an undercover spy for the French during WWII. 130pm- the plan is to get gas at the Marathon station, hit the 'Y' for the workout, then pick up the Tamsulosin and groceries at Walmart. Wasted too long writing an email to Janny saying that we should wait until we know more about the resolution of the estate before we meet.

Th 2/14/19

Th 2/14/19 Up 7am; overcast to mostly sunny but temps to 50's. 'DEEP COVER' (Xfinity- Free With Ads)  Excellent crime/thriller with Laurence Fishburne and Jeff Goldblum. A cop goes undercover and works with federal authorities to take out a major west coast drug syndicate. However, the feds back off because they need the South American kingpin for geo-political hijinks in Latin America; "I'm a cop pretending to be a drug dealer, but what I really am is a drug dealer pretending to be a cop". Fishburne's first leading role and he's great as a man facing real moral dilemmas and Goldblum is hilariously off-beat and crazed as a mob lawyer and drug supplier. Then a new horror/ thriller on Netflix called, 'DEADLY SWITCH'- "When Scottish university student Ana (Danika Yarosh), studying abroad in America, becomes the target of a dangerous stalker, she accepts the invitation to move in with her roommate’s family in their idyllic town over spr...

Fr 2/15/19

Fr 2/15/19 Up 7am; partly sunny, but very cold. Temps only to low twenties. Then watched, 'GRINGO' (Amazon Prime)  With Joel Edgerton, Charlize Theron, and David Oyelowo. A comic/ thriller about a byzantine and hilarious executive ransom situation in Mexico. An evil corporation gets what it deserves, and the black man they hung out to dry makes good; well worth a look. Then, the last of a two part series on serial killer, Harold Shipman called, 'DRIVEN TO KILL' (Netflix). Dr. Harold Shipman of Manchester, England might have killed over 250 people over a span of three decades. He doesn't seem to have any of the standard reasons for murder, he just did it because he could. Then the end of episode #1 of, 'DATING AROUND' (Netflix) that I began last night, and then number 2 of the series. The appeal of the Bravo network is that their skanky egomaniacs are so obnoxious that you can't take your eyes off of the screen. The Netflix characters are  too bla...

Tu 2/12/19

Tu 2/12/19 Up 6am; cloudy, windy with occasional morning snow showers- to mid 30's. Watched Netflix disc, 'WHITE BOY RICK' Richard Wershe Jr.- a man who worked with the feds to bring down some of Detroit's most corrupt cops and politicians, then they let him get sent up for life; Mathew McConaughey/ Jennifer Jason Leigh/ Bruce Dern- and first time actor from Baltimore, Richie Merritt. Then, 'RUSHMORE' (Xfinity) Wes Anderson directs- not to be confused with Paul Thomas Anderson (I did!). Max Fisher is the kid who could have done anything, but was too busy doing everything; Jason Schwartzman/ Bill Murray/ Brian Cox/ Olivia Williams. Excellent vintage rock and roll soundtrack! Watched the other free 'HIGH MAINTENANCE' on Xfinity. Very strange; Two parallel story lines- older pot smoker/ hippie dies in the bathtub and the 'pot salesman' is vacationing in the area and knows the dead guy and attends his wake. Pot salesman meets a girl and they...

Mo 2/11/19

Mo 2/11/19 Up 640 am; overcast and rain (wintry mix?) to begin later today. Temps to rise to low to mid thirties. Watched 'THE TWO JAKES' (Amazon Prime) Jack Nicholson directs and stars. He and Harvey Keitel are 'the two Jakes'. A man bursts into a motel room where his wife is having sex with his business partner. He kills his partner, but is it a setup to gain the multimillion dollar business and claim temporary insanity? A dense and complex plot that's every bit as good as 'CHINATOWN'. I called the ATT life insurance and confirmed that Janny is the beneficiary on the $32,000 policy. I wrote her an email describing the procedure and how to claim the policy (I included the phone number). Then watched the final episode of 'BLACK EARTH RISING'. Another dark, deep, and complex drama, and I'm not sure that I got all of the details. I wonder if anyone did. 145pm- Hit FitClub South and on the way dropped off the long sleeve tees that no longe...

Su 2/10/19

Su 2/10/19 Up 6am; cloudy and cold with about an inch of snow predicted for this afternoon- to about 30. Watched 'JUNO' (Xfinity) I had forgotten how well written and flat-out hysterical this movie was. An uncomfortable subject treated with wit, humor, and intelligence. Then, 'THE HUNTER'S PRAYER' (Amazon Prime)  A lackluster thriller where a hitman loses his nerve. He's killed her mother and father, but he can't seem to kill the daughter. Some interesting chase scenes as the unlikely pair dodge bad guys and shoot up the town. One of the stars of 'TRANSPARENT' is the only saving grace, and of course I didn't recognize her. Then rewatching the season opener for 'HIGH MAINTENANCE' from HBO on Xfinity.  A very strange series that's made up of odd ball characters in unusual urban settings- Like nothing else, however only two shows out of three seasons are available for free. 1pm to FitClub West. Just under an inch of snow has fa...

Sa 2/9/19

Sa 2/9/19 Up 7am; eleven degrees at 7am, sunny and temps won't crack 30 later. Got an email from Janny about the party at Elsie's House yesterday and that they were on their way home. On the ground 1130am in Peoria, and they were heading for a restaurant. Watched 'FALL OF THE INNOCENT' (THE BUTCHER OF PRAGUE) (Amazon Prime)  When Nazi leader Reinhard Heydrich was assassinated in 1942,  the German command destroyed an entire Czechoslovakian village and murdered all of the townspeople in retribution. One man was in prison for the accidental murder of his son, and he was the only male to survive. Not a bad film, and I was unaware of the 'Lidice Massacre'. Then the penultimate 'BLACK EARTH RISING'- An extremely complex story and amazingly shot; some of John Goodman's best work. 1pm- to the 'Y' and then after the workout to Walmart to see if they have 'Double X' thermal long sleeve tees. 45" Walk. (Reality TV all workout...

Fr 2/8/19

Fr 2/8/19 Up 640 am; mostly sunny and very cold. Single digits early and high of 19 later and very windy. Watched Netflix disc 'THOROUGHBREDS'  Similar to the story of 'Leopold and Loeb' only set in very upper-class Connecticut with two prep school girls. One feels too much, and one feels nothing at all- together they form a complete whole, yet lacking in any morality. Then, 'CRAZY HEART' (Xfinity) Jeff Bridges won Best Actor Oscar for his performance in the 2009 film. He's perfect as the washed up, alcoholic country western troubadour who will perform at any venue that will have him. 1245pm- read and finished 'THE DESERT ROSE' and left for the 'Y' at 115pm. Dropped the disc in the box near Fairway/ Monroe. 45" Walk (Reality TV all Workout). 45" Bike. 45" Cross. 45" Recumbent Bike. 30" Cross. Home to skim through a couple of 'maybes' and settled on 'THE DECEIVERS'- John D. MacDonald, and l...

Th 2/7/19

Th 2/7/19 Up 715am; fog, drizzle- high 30's, then temps fall and the winds pickup. Tomorrow's high is only 18! Quote heard while listening to Terry Gross interview with Margo Price: Nashville- a drinking city with a music problem". Watched Netflix disc, 'THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB' (Claire Foy)   More of the saga of Lisbeth Salander ( 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'). Two sisters battle for the control of a computer program that can monitor and control all nuclear missiles launches. Not bad.. Then, the next 'BLACK EARTH RISING'. 120 pm- To the Wabash PO, Planet Fitness, then the grocery shopping at Fairhills Country Market. 45" Walk (I watched the last three episodes of, 'RUSSIAN DOLLS during the workout). 45" Recumbent Bike (read 'THE DESERT ROSE'/ Amazon Music). 45" Cross (DOLLS). 45" Bike (DOLLS). 30" Cross (Z- THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING). The temperature had dropped so drastically, and t...

We 2/6/19

We 2/6/19 Up 710am; rain today and through tomorrow afternoon. Temps in the mid to upper 30's today. Watched 'VELVET BUZZSAW' (Netflix) A clever, goofy, exhilarating, and witty spoof on the high-end elite art world that is set within a 'haunted/horror' movie.  Vetril Dease, a criminally insane artist dies, his satanic and haunted paintings were to be destroyed, but greedy gallery owners are able to save his pieces and mass market this deadly art, and hellish mayhem ensues; Jake Gyllenhaal/ Rene Russo/ John Malkovich. Then the next episode of 'BLACK EARTH RISING' (Netflix) 1220 pm- to FitClub West, then to Menards for replacement CO2/ Smoke Detector and a mechanical drill. 45" Octane (Got the 'change pix' working on Google Play this morning. Listened to 'TENNESSEE'- Lucero; with the album art). 45" Walk (All TV). 45" Recumbent Bike. 45" Cross. 30" Old Style Cross. Drove to Menards and got a CO2 detector and a...

Tu 2/5/19

Tu 2/5/19 Up 630am; cloudy and rain to begin late this afternoon and will be around for the next couple of days. Today temps only in the high 30's. I wrote up 'THE TROUBLED MAN' for the blog. Watched 'THE WHITE ORCHID' (Xfinity) A small Independent film, yet a real treat (although mostly scathing reviews). "A social services investigator helps a local sheriff solve the brutal murder of a beautiful blonde known only as The White Orchid". It's much more than that, and the locations in San Luis Obispo and Morrow Bay are  gorgeous, and the plot is classic Film Noir- a story with lots of twists and turns, and even an unidentified headless corpse. Shortly before 10am I got a call from Janny telling me of their adventure so far. It seems that all the details have been ironed out at the mortuary, they contacted the federal government (by phone) to have his annuity suspended, and they have an appointment with the lawyer that Lannie recommended for the p...

Mo 2/4/19

Mo 2/4/19 Up 615am; 50 degrees at dawn and to upper 50's later! Overcast and rain in the forecast until this afternoon. Temps to dip later, and tomorrow's high will only be 40. I found The Who's- 'TOMMY' last night and I put both discs on Google Play. Watched 'THE HUEY P. NEWTON STORY' (Xfinity)  One man stage play by Roger Guenveur Smith (Spike Lee; dir)- In character as Newton, he delivers a mesmerizing performance that is almost like one ninety minute jazz riff. Then, 'CLOSE' (Netflix) (Noomi Rapace)  Rapace's character is based on that of Jacquie Davis, one of the world’s leading female bodyguards, whose clients have included J. K. Rowling, Nicole Kidman, and members of the British royal family; just a tad better than your typical 'Thriller/ Shoot'em Up', worth a look. Leaving for the 'Y' 1215pm. 45" Walk (Reality TV All Workout). 45" Bike. 45" Cross. 45" Bike (Recumbent Bikes were at a premi...

Su 2/3/19- It's Arthur 'Killer' Kane's 70th Birthday!!!

Su 2/3/19- It's Arthur 'Killer' Kane's 70th Birthday!!! Others Born on Feb 3rd- Henning Mankell Pretty Boy Floyd Joey Bishop Kenneth Anger Morgan Fairchild Blythe Danner Dave Davies Frederick Mendelssohn Up 6am; mostly sunny and temps to mid 50's! Watched 'LOVELESS'('NELYUBOV') Xfinity   A middle class Russian couple are going through an extremely bitter divorce when their twelve year old son goes missing. Both mother and father do not want custody, and the boy overhears this decision (one of the most memorable scenes of the film), and this may or may not have caused the boy to leave because what really happened to the boy is never resolved. Although the the primary narrative of the film is the convoluted and elaborate search for the boy, it's really about the disintegration of this family, and maybe the entire country of Russia as well. Spent some time making comments on the YouTube reviews of the film, and then watched: ...

Sa 2/2/19- Brandenburgs for cremation paperwork/ Removing Limb with Jan Hinds

Sa 2/2/19- Brandenburgs for cremation paperwork Up 630am; partly cloudy, and temps to mid 40's. Expecting the Brandenburgs to bring over the paperwork so that the cremation can go forward. It seems completely ridiculous because this should have been done when the deal was made. Can't wait to hear the explanation/ justification for this. Watched 'BLUE IGUANA' Xfinity (Sam Rockwell) Very funny film noir spoof- As if Tarantino made a bloody and violent, yet hysterically funny romantic comedy; with music by The B-5'2 and the Violent Femmes. FINALLY ELIMINATED THE GOD-DAMNED MSN NEWS FEED ON NEW EXPLORER TABS....HOO-FUCKING-RAY!!!!! Then, 'THE PROPOSITION' (Ray Winstone/ Guy Pearce/ Emily Watson/ John Hurt/ Danny Huston)  Set in 1880's Australia and concerns the aftermath of the rape and murder of the Hopkins family by the Burns brother gang. The local police captain captures two brothers, sends one to kill the oldest brother and ringleader of the g...

Fr 2/1/19

Fr 2/1/19 Up 6am; bright, calm, sunny, and temps might crack 32. Watched Netflix disc, 'UNFRIENDED' Another movie in which the drama unfolds strictly online. Six teens share a Skype-chat and the spirit of a friend that had committed suicide joins the group and forces them to play a deadly game. This teen flic seems to warn of the dire consequences of online communication with the dead; flimsy premise, but quite compelling. Then the first two episodes (2 hrs) of the new Netflix series, 'BLACK EARTH RISING'. It's slowly paced, and deals with the Hague's attempt to seek justice for the Rwandan genocide. This is shaping up into something well worth watching. 1130am- PC 'Off" and will read, then hit County Market ($61), and on to mail the disc at the Wabash PO and a workout at Planet Fitness. On the machines at 3pm. 45" Walk (the first episode about sexual abuse at the Marista School in Spain). 45" Recumbent Bike ('THE TROUBLED MAN/ Ly...
