We 9/30/20

We 9/30/20 Began and read about 30 pages of 'METHUSELAH'S CHILDREN'- Robert Heinlein and then got out of bed at 645am. Partly cloudy, breezy with temps to about 70. I wrote up 'LEGION' by William Peter Blatty for the blog. The novel became the film 'EXORCIST 3' and it's available on Amazon Prime so it is today's, Morning Movie. Although Blatty wrote the screenplay the ending is radically different from the novel. Kinderman has a 'Full-Blown, Large Handgun, Exorcism Struggle' with the man in the padded cell who claims to be Kinderman's friend, the priest.  This exorcism seemed very tacked-on, and according to one of the YouTube video reviews, it was. The bit about the carp living in his bathtub is still in the film and one of the highlights; George C. Scott, Brad Dourif, and a very small role for a very young Kevin Corrigan. Then I watched 'KILLBIRD' (Amazon Prime). A birdwatcher's car breaks down in very rural Oregon and she ...

Tu 9/29/20

Tu 9/29/20 Up 745am: Partly sunny, breezy with temps to low 60's. Watched Netflix disc 'THE MECHANIC' (I was supposed to get two discs yesterday and I only got one. This disc was missing over a week ago. If I don't get the other disc today I'm contacting Netflix. Something has gone wrong. Over the last month too many have arrived late or not at all). The pyrotechnics and mass murders were so over-the-top that the average seven year old would not believe it; with Jason Statham, Ben Foster (he was remarkable as the 'damaged Tonto' to Stathams 'Lone Ranger', and Donald Sutherland...in a wheelchair.  Then I watched the last episode of 'I'M DYING UP HERE' Season 1. 'Dancin' In The Moonlight' is the song of the day. I hope at some point in the future I will be able to see Season 2. Then the last 25" of Joe Rogan's interview with Miley Cyrus.  230pm: PC is 'Off' and will read for a while and then a walk to the Monro...

Mo 9/28/20- Dr. Kwedar- 1055am./ Bought a recliner: Lazy-Boy

Mo 9/28/20- Dr. Kwedar- 1055am./ Bought a recliner: Lazy-Boy Up 630am and read 'LEGION'. Rain last night and today will be cloudy, breezy, and cool- highs only in the mid 60's. Watched an episode and a half of 'I'M DYING UP HERE' (Amazon Prime). Only two episodes left of Season I. 1020am: To Dr. Kwedar's office. The plan is to hit the Wabash PO and mail the gift card to The Brandenburgs, get stamps, and possibly hit a furniture store to get a new living room chair.  ***The exam went fine and I'm OK and there will be a follow up on Nov. 2nd. I went to the post office at Wabash and there was a line extending out to the side of the store. I waited. Then headed to Lazy Boy on Wabash and got a $829 recliner. However, I won't get the chair until the middle of January. Due to the pandemic things are running slow. He also said that most prices will be going up very soon, so any large items should be ordered soon. Home 1245pm. A bowl and then watched 'VA...

Su 9/27/20

Su 9/27/20 Up 730am: Partly sunny with rain beginning late this afternoon with temps to mid 70's. Watched 'HOLY ROLLERS' (Kanopy). Young Hasidic Jews are used as drug mules in an international Ecstasy smuggling operation and 'Who would suspect the devout?' was an excellent idea until they got caught; with Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Bartha, Ari Graynor (Cassie on I'M DYING UP HERE), and Jesse's sister in real life, Hallie Eisenberg. Watched a half hour YouTube video- Ari Graynor discusses 'I'M DYING UP HERE'.  While looking for an interview with Clark Duke I noticed that he directed 'ARKANSAS' (Amazon Prime). I knew I had seen it before, but well worth another look. "The Southern Mafia is not 'organized crime' at all"...The funny scene in which the drug dealers must stay to watch a complete movie after a deal because the buyer thinks it's suspicious to have cars pulling in and out of the driveway. Music by The Flaming L...

Sa 9/26/20- Pot Shop 740 am

Sa 9/26/20- Pot Shop 740 am I awoke at 630am so I decided that I might as well hit the dispensary this morning instead of tomorrow. Got two powerful strains (over 20% THC) and a grinder 2 bucks: Total $150. Watched 'APOCALYPTO' (Amazon Prime). A blood and guts tale of the Mayan's subjugation of the local peoples. In the final scenes of the film, the Europeans arrive and history shows that the indiginous people's time of tribulation was only beginning. The final picture in Mel Gibson's directorial trilogy; 'BRAVEHEART', 'THE PASSION OF CHRIST', and 'APOCALYPTO'.   Then watched 'BACKSTABBING FOR BEGINNERS' (Kanopy). A fictionalized account of the corrupt 'Iraqi Food For Oil Program' and how the truth was discovered and made public. During the embargo of Iraq a program was devised to sell  Iraqi oil on the open market and the proceeds were to be put toward food and medicine for the Iraqi people. Surreptitiously Sadam ran the pro...

Fr 9/25/20- Did the lawn/ Trimmed the hedge/ Hacked flowerbeds

Fr 9/25/20 Up 735am: Bright and sunny with temps to 80. Tomorrow's high will be close to 90, but next week highs only in the lower 60's. Fall is here. Watched Netflix disc 'CARANCHO'(probably means 'vulture', also slang for a disreputable or lazy person). A disbarred lawyer meets a young ambulance doctor while staging car accidents for false i hen I watched 'COHERENCE'(Amazon Prime). A comet passes near the Earth and during an evening dinner party and the nature of reality changes. After a power outage the party ventures  outside to discover that 'their' house exists down the street only the people in the house are from a different reality. In the end, a woman kills her double but the film isn't clear about how this could happen since both women could not exist in the same reality at the same time...I think. I had seen this one before and obviously I didn't remember the climax since it isn't clear even after a second viewing. SCHRODI...

Th 9/24/20

Th 9/24/20 Up 730am: Sunny with temps almost to 80. I wrote up 'A WOMAN AT WAR'- by Molly Moore for the blog. Watched 'SLAM' (Kanopy). The theme is that the white majority rules Australia and everyone other than whites are treated as 'The Enemy'. An immigrant's sister disappears. She is educated in Leftist-Agitprop Political Theory and performs poetry 'slams' that highlight her views, so the authorities try to link her to Syrian terrorism. She didn't leave the country to join the terrorists, but she was raped and murdered- probably by white Australians. A thought provoking film- another pleasant surprise.  Then I watched 'SOUTHLAND TALES' (Crackle). A silly, over-the-top comedy about a dystopian Los Angeles (set in a possible future of 2008) that is about to implode due to wacky conspiracy theories and civil anarchy; with Dwayne Johnson, Seann Scott, Sarah Gellar, Many Doore, Jon Lovitz, and Wallace Shawn. Said Andrew O'Hehir- "...

We 9/23/20-Now Only One Eyedrop 3 Times A Day

We 9/23/20-Now Only One Eyedrop 3 Times A Day Up 650am: Partly cloudy with temps to mid 70's. ***Downstairs PC ran all night and apparently '2004 Update' is complete! It might have finally taken because I did a 'restart' last night before I let the PC run. (8pm Wednesday night....It took!) I watched the Netflix disc 'THE SONG OF NAMES'. FACT? To make it easier to remember all those killed at Treblinka a song was used to recite their names. Its' melody was so long that it took five days to complete. A difficult film because different actors play characters as they age. The young Martin and David look nothing like Clive Owen or Tim Roth. Just worth a 'C'. 1115am: PC on 'Sleep' and I'll check out the situation at the County Market Pharmacy. Did my insurance cover the next bottle of eyedrops? I used the last drop this morning.  1130am: Walked down Kenyon to Monroe and back Chatham to Fairway. When I got to the pharmacy they wanted to cha...

Tu 9/22/20- Molar Cap Reattached

Tu 9/22/20- Molar Cap Reattached ***10am appointment Up 710am: Hazy sun with temps to high 70's. Watched one episode of 'I'M DYING UP HERE' (Amazon Prime). 930am: Left for the dentist. I learned that I do not have a temporary cap on the front lower right. It's just a really big cavity that has got to hold until January. The molar cap just needed more glue and I'm good until I come back in January; $95 for the reattachment. No eating or drinking until 1230pm at least. I went to the County Market at Fairhills to discuss my drops. I told them to drop the bottle that I don't need and that I'll be in tomorrow to pick up the drops that I'm to continue for another week. It didn't seem to be that big of a deal.  Picked up another 30pk, two jugs of apple juice, and a couple of packages of spaghetti.  Home to watch 'TERRI' (Amazon Prime). An oddly affecting dramedy and the relationship between a dysfunctional high school student and his guidance c...

Mo 9/21/20- Molar Crown Fell Out/ Ran Out of One Bottle of Drops

Mo 9/21/20 Up 8am: Plenty of sun and a few degrees warmer. Temps to upper 70's. ***Ran out of Tobramycin (yellow mark on bottle). One of the eye drops I'm supposed to use. I called Kewdar's office and they will contact the pharmacy to allow me to get more. What is the price?  ***While eating a bowl of rice one of my molar crowns fell out. It's not the temporary crown, but one that was installed last April. I called the dentist and I described where it was located and verified that their office did the job and when it was done.  Watched 'STRANGE BUT TRUE'. One of the comedians on 'Getting Doug With High' mentioned that he didn't understand this film and I thought I'd give it a shot. Just as the crown fell out I was right near the end of 'STRANGE BUT TRUE', today's Morning Movie on Netflix. I really liked the film and it's about a young woman who believes that she was impregnated by her boyfriend who has been dead for over five yea...

Su 9/20/20

Su 9/20/20 Up 650am: Sunny with temps to low 70's. Spent far too much time on Reddit Videos. Then I watched 'THE DEVIL ALL THE TIME' (Netflix). A 'Hillbilly Gothic' film based on a novel by Donald Ray Pollock. The author did the narration for parts of his novel that were used in the film. Staunch Fundamentalist's Christians, serial killers, maniacs, murderers, and very violent individuals co-exist in the rustic small towns of early 60's southern Ohio and West Virginia. Evangelical religion is central to their lives, yet it seems that if God loves these sad people, he's the only one; with Robert Pattinson, Bill Skarsgard, and Riley Keough. A pleasant surprise! And then I watched 'HERE ALONE' (Kanopy). A 'Thinking Man's Zombie Post-Apocalyptic' film. After the zombie virus has taken her husband and baby daughter, a woman camps at a secluded lake and hopes to ride it out until a man and his step-daughter arrive. A very odd ending, but f...

Sa 9/19/20

Sa 9/19/20 Up 7am; Sunny and temps only to 70.  'MEAN DREAMS' (Kanopy). I had seen this one before but didn't realize that it was Bill Paxton's last film. An excellent 'B' Movie about a girl and her father who move into a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere and she falls for the boy next door. Later we learn that her father is an evil and crooked cop who robs and murders a biker gang for a million in cash during a drug deal gone wrong. The young lovers capture the loot and take off for the hills...almost. I really liked this one; with Bill Paxton, and Josh Wiggins and Sophie Nelisse as the young lovers. Then I watched 'FOUR LIONS' (Kanopy). Four incompetent British terrorists and their hilarious attempts to commit acts of terror. 2pm: PC is 'Off' and will read for a bit and then hit the sidewalks.   310pm...AN HOUR AND 15 MINS... Parkview, Bellerive, east at Greenbriar, north and across Laurel and Beach back to Parkview and down to 940...Mp3... T...

Fr 9/18/20- County Market: $81

Fr 9/18/20- County Market: $81 Up 7am and to County Market by 740am and home and groceries in the cabinets by 820am. I watched 'THE BIG FIX' on YouTube and then wrote up the book for the blog. Roger L. Simon who wrote the book also wrote the screenplay for the film. It's still a pretty convoluted story-line, but the film made it much more understandable. And the film is  a real homage to the 70's culture of post hippie California; with Richard Dreyfuss, John Lithgow and F. Murray Abraham. Then I re-watched 'THE KEYS TO TULSA' (Amazon Prime). It made much more sense the second time around, but still a convoluted film. Brian Fair Berkey, the author of the novel, did not write the screenplay. James Spader and Eric Stoltz were even better the second time around and I really think that Deborah Kara Unger doesn't get the credit she deserves. She's Canadain, but went to Australia to study acting and that's where she began her career.  230pm: PC is 'Off...

Th 9/17/20

Th 9/17/20 Up 730am: Sunny with temps in the upper 70's. ***835am. A truck picked up the branch pile at 'roof rake' house. Watched 'CLOSE ENEMIES' (Netflix). Set in the high rise projects near Paris an undercover narcotics detective must deal with his Algerian roots. His childhood friends are all involved in the drug trade and he is a narc. Obviously, there will be problems. I had seen this before and worth a second look.  Then watched the next 'I'M DYING UP HERE' (Netflix). And then the next episode of 'WRONG MAN'. Both series leave Amazon Prime on Oct. 1st.  2pm: Preparing for the afternoon walk.  340pm...Wash. Pk., Wiggins, Outer Park, Holmes, North side of panhandle, up the hill, Parkview, and down to 940. 2 HOURS. Mp3... LOS LOBOS, THE STROKES, HOT CHIP.  Finished "THE BIG FIX" while listening to STEREOLAB.  In the tub began "A WOMAN AT WAR" and listening to ANTIETAM, ARTHUR LEE & LOVE.  Watched 'SECRET WINDOW...

We 9/16/20- Kwedar Follow Up 10am.

We 9/16/20- Kwedar Follow Up 10am. Up 635am: Used the alarm on the phone. Sunny and a high of about 80. Watched two episodes of  'I'M DYING UP HERE' (Amazon Prime). 935am: PC is 'Off' and will leave for Dr. Kweda's office at the clinic.  I was only there for about twenty minutes total. I continue using the three bottles of eye drops until next Wednesday, 9/23. On Wednesday I only take drops from the bottle marked with an 'X'. Three times a day. I have an appointment at the clinic on Monday, 9/28 at 1055am.   Then I watched 'THE DEVIL'S DOUBLE' (Amazon Prime).  An account of Uday Saddam Hussein, the sadistic son of Saddam Hussein. Not a bad thriller and the movie probably didn't come close to showing the full brutality of this sociopath; Dominic Cooper played Uday and the double, Yatif Lahia.   Listened to a live tape of The Pretenders from 1980 and read 'THE BIG FIX'. Walk later. 325pm...Kenyon, Washington east to Walnut to Wash. ...

Tu 9/15/20- Cataract Surgery Springfield Clinic

Tu 9/15/20- Cataract Surgery Springfield Clinic Up 635am: Sunny with haze from the fires in California and Oregon- to 80. ***Made a cup of instant coffee because they said I could drink until 8am. Did a round of eye drops and read about the film 'CUTIES' on Netflix. Right-wing nuts (Ted Cruz) think the film promotes the sexualization of pre-teen girls. I think the film was more about peer pressure and nothing in the film was even close to the 'teenage sexual gyrations' that anyone can see on YouTube or for that matter, in many cheer leading routines. The film was designed focus attention on supposed preoccupation with sex among young teens and in that respect the film was a great success. 10am: movie over and just waiting with some anxiety. 1015am: PC is 'Off'...Here we go! Arrived shortly before 11am. Janny read in the waiting room. Guy in a wheelchair recognized me from Fitclub or the 'Y'. I didn't know who he was because of his mask.  RN couldn...

Mo 9/14/20

Mo 9/14/20 Up 7am: Cloudy, but plenty of sun later with temps to about 80. I wrote up 'THE KEYS TO TULSA' by Brian Fair Berkey for the blog. Watched 'PUNCTURE' (Kanopy). A Texas lawyer uncovers a scam run by Big Pharma. A medical supply company controls all contracts with every Texas hospital and will not allow the introduction of 'safe needles'. Tens of thousands of people are accidentally pricked by used needles and this invention would end that because the safe needles can only be used one time. The defense lawyer is an addict and dies of an overdose before the case goes to trial. Based on a true incident; with Chris Evans, Mark Kassen, Marshall Bell and Brett Cullen. ***Just before 11am I got a text from Dr. Kewdar's office about an appointment on Wednesday at 1015am, but nothing about when I should arrive tomorrow. Left word and they'll call back and I sent an email to Janny that she would be the first to know when I learn anything.   Then I watche...

Su 9/13/20

Su 9/13/20 Up 725am: Partly cloudy with temps to the upper 70's. I did the laundry and emptied the cat box. Saturday was so jammed that I forgot to do it. Watched Netflix disc 'MARAUDERS'. The plot is so convoluted that it's laughable, yet still worth a look in a Pulp Fiction/Graphic novel kind of way; with Adrian Grenier (ENTOURAGE), Dave Bautista (Professional Wrestler), Christopher Meloni (He starred in 'HAPPY!'- A very surreal Netflix series about a hit-man with an imaginary friend. That was great and 'MARAUDERS' was just as good but in a different way. The former, he's a whack-job and in the latter, he's a hard-nosed FBI agent). Then watched 'TRUE COLORS'. James Spader and John Cusack play against 'type'. Spader is the ethical guy and Cusack is the silver tongued rogue and they trade quips against the backdrop of  congressional politics during the late 80's.  Roger Ebert didn't like it, but I kind of dug it. Another ...

Sa 9/12/20- COVID-19 TEST: 1227 S. 7TH

Sa 9/12/20- COVID-19 TEST: 1227 S. 7TH Rain began about 7am and will last through the afternoon. Temps to mid 70's. Up 6am, but I read 'THE KEYS TO TULSA' for about 40" before I got out of bed. I left the house at 745am and was back by 810am. It started to rain pretty hard just as I pulled out of the garage. ***Only a few cars at the testing site. A white tent and I had to pull into parking space #10 and then call the phone number on the sign. Then they had me pull out of the space and get in line for the tent. Only one car ahead of me and they pulled away quickly. A woman came out and asked my name and date of birth. She said that this was 'an easy' Covid test. It only goes into the nose about a half inch. There was a test where the stick went much further back and this was the test that I had been hearing about. It wasn't painful and barely uncomfortable. Done in less than five minutes. All the concern was for nothing. Home to write up the 'adventure...

Fr 9/11/20

Fr 9/11/20 Up 730am: Cloudy with temps to upper 70's. They finished removing the gigantic dead tree next to 'roof-rake' house. That tree had to have been fifty or sixty feet tall.  ***While watching the film I noticed that the PC needs to 'Restart' because of the damned Windows 2004 Update. Will try to finish the film before doing it. 'A TAXI DRIVE' (Hoopla). About a real incident that I had never heard of. 'Gwangju Uprising'- Summer of 1980 student protests for Democratic reform led to a government shutdown of a southern Korean city. 2000 were killed. A taxi driver drove a German film reporter from Seoul to Gwangju and was able to get the film to the international public. That was the last time that the two men met.  ***1130am: Will read and eat a bowl of rice during the 'Restart'. I hope this is painless and will end the constant 're-updating'. The update only lasted a few minutes, but it's still 'Pending' and 'Hist...

Th 9/10/20- Dentist 130pm

Th 9/10/20- Dentist 130pm Up 815am: Cloudy and cool with temps only to mid 70's. Watched 'JACK'S BACK' (Amazon Prime). Not a bad thriller about identical twins, hypnotism, and a copycat killer who is mirroring the killings of Jack The Ripper exactly one hundred years later only in Los Angeles, California. Released in 1988, the film is like an ode to The 1980's- the clothing, music, and set design were right on point; James Spader is clearly the main focus (he plays two parts!) because the film also could be viewed as a parody of James Spader doing his sleazy, thinking man's anti-hero character. Then watched the first 45" of  'CAPITAL IN THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY' (Netflix). In the chair 115~415pm. $180 rebate for part of money spent on the cavity work. Temporary cap till Jan. when the new insurance kicks in. $1,018 today on Ameriprise.  Walked 3 miles on the treadmill, less than 60 mins. Finished CAPITAL IN THE 21ST CENTURY~ Netflix.  Parkview, Wash...

We 9/9/20-115pm: Elective Surgery Physical- Atlanta St.

We 9/9/20-115pm: Elective Surgery Physical- Atlanta St. Up 720am: Foggy early and a cloudy day with temps to 80's. I wrote up 'MAZE OF DEATH' by Philip K. Dick for the blog. Watched 'LAKEVIEW TERRACE' (Netflix). A cautionary tale about what happens when your neighbor is a complete asshole. The race angle was the central theme of the film, yet the real issue is that some people are just impossible; with Samuel L. Jackson, Patrick Wilson, and Kerry Washington. ***Paid the cards Noon: PC is 'Off' and will leave for Atlanta St. around 1230pm. 1255~130pm. Mostly talk and I got the flu shot, but when they drew blood it swelled. She said that it would go away. Young girl probably didn't know what she was doing.  Filled the Elantra [first time since February] and got a 12pk at the Casey's on Peoria Rd.  Home to read in the living room and listened to a live Dead tape. 415pm...Parkview, Wash. Pk. Northside, South thru Park on Park to Outer Park, Laurel, Count...

Tu 9/8/20

Tu 9/8/20 Up 8am: Overcast with rain predicted off and on all day- 80's. (Not much rain at all). ***Mp3 connects to charge but no display of what's on the player. Will try it on the Chromebook or downstairs. Called Dr. Ellison's office to schedule a flu shot for tomorrow as well as the pre-op checkup. Watched 'VILLAIN' (Netflix). A surprisingly good English contemporary gangster film set in London's East End. A man arrives home after years in prison to find that his brother has put ownership of the family pub in jeopardy; with Craig Fairbrass and George Russo. Then watched 'MRS. DALLOWAY' (IMDB-TV). Set during the years following WWI this is a terrific film about a woman who settled for a safe, rich, and well-connected marriage partner and dismissed a more reckless, yet dynamic choice. The film is 'one day in her life' as the woman hosts a gala cocktail party and all of the important people of her past show up. Doubt is sown...Did she make the ri...

Mo 9/7/20- Labor Day

Mo 9/7/20- Labor Day Up 730am: Cloudy with showers beginning late this afternoon- low 80's. Watched 'I'M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS' (Netflix). A very strange Art Film about a young couple who embark on a road trip during a blizzard to visit his parents for the first time. I'm not sure what it is supposed to mean and it's not even clear if it's meant to be a coherent whole, but I liked it; with Jesse Plemons (BREAKING BAD), Jessie Buckley, Toni Collette, and David Thewlis. I tried to find out if I could get a flu shot when I do the physical on Tuesday, but when I called their office I learned that today was Labor Day.  Wrote the Weekly Wrap and sent it.  Then I watched 'CORONA' (Hoopla). The first film to deal with COVID 19 as a plot element. The movie was shot mid February, 2020, but it's not very good and not very believable. Seven people trapped on an elevator, a baby is delivered, and ethics, racism, and entitlement are discussed. And, an old...

Su 9/6/20- Update 2004 to PC Living Room

Su 9/6/20 Up 640am: Overcast to partly cloudy with temps to upper 80's. I wrote up 'AMERICAN PSYCHO' by Bret Easton Ellis for the blog. Watched 'VERONICA MARS' (Hoopla). This is a movie based on a television series. Nine years after high school graduation Veronica returns to Neptune, California  to defend a classmate who is charged with murder. Veronica grew up helping in her father's PI business, so she's quite adept at being a detective; with Kristin Bell, Gaby Hoffmann, and small parts for James Franco, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Dax Shepard. Kind of funny, but Kristin Bell carries the film. Watched a couple of reviews on YouTube of 'VERONICA MARS' and then watched 'HALE COUNTY THIS MORNING, THIS EVENING' (Amazon Prime). A kind of 'Art Film/ Video Poem' about a very small African-American community in rural Alabama. This area of Alabama was the epicenter of the civil rights movement of the mid 1960's. I couldn't put it off any ...

Sa 9/5/20

Sa 9/5/20 Up 820am: Bright and sunny with temps to mid 80's. Watched 'RED DRAGON' (Netflix). An FBI expert is called out of retirement to help solve the 'Tooth Fairy' murders and he must enlist the aid of his arch rival, Hannibal Lector; with Anthony Hopkins, Edward Norton, Ralph Fiennes, Harvey Keitel, Emily Watson, Mary-Louise Parker, and Philip Seymour Hoffman. It's nowhere near as good as 'SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, but still very much worth a look. Watched a couple of JASH videos on YouTube starring Michael Cera. Jash is a comedy channel and I subscribed. 130pm: PC is 'Off' and reading. I will Update the PC tomorrow and if I have trouble I can take it to BLH on Monday. Walk later.  Finished reading AMERICAN PSYCHO by Brett Easton Ellis. 425pn...Parkview, Wash. Pk. North side, across on Park St. south to Outer Park, Laurel, Country Club, Oakmont, Parkview to 940. Fr 9/4/20

Fr 9/4/20 Up 710am: Sunny and much cooler- upper 70's. Watched Netflix disc 'CHRONICLE'. Much better than I thought it would be. Believable high school dialog, yet the actors looked a bit old. It would have been better if the relationship between the three boys was more dynamic. Why didn't they do something 'Big'? Added THE VULGAR BOATMEN, THE GRIFTERS, THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, and PAVEMENT to the Mp3 player. There was some difficulty connecting to the PC, but it finally took.   Then I watched 'FLUTTER' (Amazon Prime). I was going to watch this last night, but settled on the disc.  A compulsive gambler meets a female bookie at the dog track who may or may not be an agent of Satan. And, as in any good Faustian tale, he bets his soul, but the true nature of the bookie is never revealed; set in Newcastle, England.  2pm: PC is 'Off' and reading in the chair and listening to a tape of LIVE STONES from 1997. Walk to the Monroe PO later....or bike to...

Th 9/3/20- County Market Groceries

Th 9/3/20- County Market Groceries Up 745am: Sunny and warmer- upper 80's. Shopping from 830-915am: $75. Watched 'THE FOUNDER' (Netflix). An illustrious biography of one of the most successful job creators of all time or how Ray Kroc fleeced the McDonald Brothers; with Kichael Keaton, Nick Offerman, John Carroll Lynch, Linda Cardellini, Laura Dern, and Patrick Wilson; "If I found my competitor drowning, I'd shove a hose into his mouth". ***Both neighbors across the street are having their chimneys repaired by Klein's Chimney Service. 1245pm: Will read for a while and then hit the sidewalks. 420pm...Parkview, Wash. We 9/2/20

We 9/2/20 Up 715am: Partly cloudy with temps to low 80's. I wrote up 'TRUE TO FORM' by Elizabeth Berg for the blog. I watched 'FROZEN GROUND' (Netflix). A bland, 'Based on a True Story' crime thriller about the Alaskan serial killer and rapist, Robert Hansen. The cops have their man right off the bat, but he's a respected member of the community and the authorities need evidence for an arrest; with Nicolas Cage3, John Cusack, Dean Norris, and Vanessa Hudgens. 1130am: preparing to walk down to the pharmacy at Fairhills to pick up the eye drops. No charge! PC on 'Sleep'. Up to Kenyon, to Monroe and down to County Market Pharmacy. Back the same way, but down Fairway and up. ABOUT 50 MINS. Mp3... QUICKSILVER MESSENGER SERVICE ~ 'Happy Trails'.
