Th 12/30/21

Th 12/30/21 920am. 735pm.  Up 7am: Fog early then overcast with temps to mid 40's- a truly gray day. Entered 'DISEASE AND HISTORY' by Frederick F. Cartwright in collaboration with Michael D. Biddiss on the blog. Watched 'UNFAITHFUL' (Netflix). A suburban woman who is happily married has an affair with a French bookseller in the West Village of NYC. Her husband finds out and murders her lover and then they both must help in the cover-up. In the end, maybe both turn themselves into the police. This film wouldn't be nearly as good if it was the husband who had the affair, but a woman seeking extramarital sex just because she can is still something provocative; with Richard Gere, Diane Lane, Olivier Martinez, and Michelle Monaghan. Nominated for 1 Oscar; 3 wins  & 16 nominations total. .      Then I watched a fifteen minute YouTube video- 'Ari Shaffir- Hunt for the Edible; THIS IS NOT HAPPENING.         1230pm: PC is 'Off' and preparin...

We 12/29/21

We 12/29/21 840am. 1050am (a pinch). 120pm. 720pm.  Up 7am: Rain to begin this afternoon and will continue through the night with temps to upper 30's. I put leaves in the blue can when I put it out to the curb. Watched 'CAKE' (Hoopla). Grief, Loss, Chronic Pain, and Addiction are the themes, but 'the accident' is never revealed in any detail, and this is what makes the film memorable. The presentation is innovative; Jennifer Aniston, Adriana Barraza, Anna Kendrick, and Sam Worthington.   Watched 'STEREO' (Netflix). A young man seems to be enjoying his life with a wife and young daughter when he begins seeing someone who is either an actual ghost, a 'ghost' from his past, or he's seriously mentally ill.  He needs to know. Is he the 'good angel' or the 'bad' one? He's the 'bad' one. Another interesting presentation and high quality low brow entertainment. Filmed in Germany. 110pm: PC is 'Off' and preparing to s...

Tu 12/28/21

Tu 12/28/21 925am. 1205pm (1 hit). 735pm.  Up 7am: Anbesol is now back in the bathroom cabinet. Misty, overcast and rain ends this afternoon with temps in the low 40's.  Watched 'ROCKNROLLA' (Hoopla). The big reveal is that London's biggest crime lord is actually a snitch for Her Majesty's Government. While attempting a corrupt real estate deal with Russian investors his empire begins to disintegrate after the mob boss's son steals the  'lucky painting'. Stellar cast and had almost a playful tone, although several scenes of extreme violence; with Gerard Butler, Tom Wilkinson, Idris Elba, Thandiwe Newton, Mark Strong, Jeremy Piven, Ludacris, Toby Kebbell, and Tom Hardy...A Guy Ritchie film: 'Sex, Thugs And Rock'n'Roll'. There was supposed to be a sequel,  but it hasn't happened...yet.  1215pm: PC is "Off" and soon will begin 'HOT MONEY- Don't Get Burned' (Amazon Prime) on the treadmill.  1225pm: FIVE MILES AT 3....

Mo 12/27/21

Mo 12/27/21 910am. 1pm. 755pm.  Up 730am: Partly cloudy with temps to mid 50's. ***Canker sore is healing and I'll try to get back to toast, Cheez-Its, and peanuts today. (After eating the rice, I think I'll give it another day before I continue the normal diet). Watched 'THE ELECTRICAL LIFE OF LOUIS WAIN' (Amazon Prime). I heard Benedict Cumberbatch talking with Marc Maron last night on WTF. The film is a quirky love story with a major theme about the love of cats. I'm surprised that I had never heard of this artist and that I was completely ignorant about the dislike of cats during the Victorian era; with Benedict Cumberbatch, Claire Foy, Andrea Riseborough, and Toby Jones.  Emily Richardson-Wain: "I think you are the first person to see that cats are in fact ridiculous. They're silly and cuddly. And lonely and frightened and brave. Like us. One day, I don't think it will be so peculiar to have a cat in the house as a little pet." I wrote ...

Su 12/26/21

Su 12/26/21 830am. 1135am (a pinch). 140pm. 740pm.  Up 7am: Low 50's and cloudy with rain predicted for late this afternoon and tonight. The canker sore on my tongue is slightly better, but I still had to use Anbesol many times last night. Watched 'DON'T LOOK UP' (Netflix). I haven't laughed this hard at a movie in ages. The film is a broad and exaggerated sendup of  Climate Deniers, Political Partisans, Anti-Vaxxers, Social Justice Warriors, and all the insights of the 'True Believer Class' that infect and pollute our social/news media landscape; with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Tyler Perry, Mark Rylance, Timothee Chalamet, Ron Perlman, and Ariana Grande..."I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like his passengers"- Jack Handey... "Everything is theoretically impossible until it's done"...I think 'The Arizona Republic' hit the nail...

Sa 12/25/21- Xmas Day

Saturday, 12/25- Xmas Day 835am. 1140am (a pinch). 730pm.  Up 7am: Mostly cloudy with temps to mid 50's. Watched Netflix disc 'THE MANY SAINTS OF NEWARK'. Well worth a look even if you have never heard of the series.  The film is a prequel or backstory of mobster Tony Soprano's early life growing up in a New Jersey crime family. The film begins in a cemetery with a narrator, Tony Soprano's nephew, who is talking 'beyond the grave' and casually mentions that Tony choked him to death...but that was much later; with Alessandro Nivola, Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta, and Michael Gandolfini (as Teenage Tony Soprano). It's got some interesting scenes set during the Newark race riots and pulls no punches in demonstrating the extreme bigotry of the white, Italian mob bosses.  I got this disc because Joey Diaz was in the film. He's a minor character but injects some funny moments..."Have you got diarrhea?..."White Flight! White Flight!".   Watched ...

Fr 12/24/21

Fr 12/24/21 9am. 1130am (a pinch). 1250pm (a pinch). 735pm.  Up 715am: Canker sore is still a problem. Partly sunny and breezy with temps to the mid 60's! I was looking through my returned queue at Netflix (discs) and noticed a film that I don't remember watching from mid November. 'EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE' is on Kanopy, so it's first up for today. 'EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE' (Kanopy). I know that I haven't seen this one before because something would have stuck. A taut thriller about a psychiatrist who turns the tables and reveals his most compelling secrets to a young suicidal female patient. He does it to get her to open up, trust him, and 'cap the shame'. His questionable plan backfires when the patient's boyfriend takes his revenge; with Casey Affleck, Michelle Monaghan, Sam Claflin, Veronica Ferres, and India Eisley.  Shot in Vancouver, British Columbia and Seattle, Washington.   ***No hang-ups or transmission problems with Kanopy. I hope t...

Th 12/23/21

Th 12/23/21 930am. 730pm.  Up 715am: Partly sunny, breezy with temps to mid 50's. Last night the blood blister on my tongue is now a canker sore and I had to apply Anbesol several times during the night.  Watched 'BORDERTOWN: MURAL MURDERS' (Netflix). A complex Finnish police thriller about a sociopathic serial killer who 'controls' others and makes them do his bidding. Also, an ethical question: Would the world be a better place without this particular pediphile,  racist, or homophobe? The lead investigator is a voluntary patient in a mental asylum. This movie is tied to a serial and I might give that a shot.  I filled out the  ATT authorization to take a buck out of my account each month and I'll mail it tomorrow when the weather will be warmer and I'll hit the streets.  1230pm: PC is 'Off' and preparing to do five miles.  1245pm: 5 MILES AT 3.6 PACE AND 0.50 SLANT watched JOEY DIAZ'S Xmas podcast from WE 12/23/21 and more of JEWEL on J.R.E....

We 12/22/21

We 12/22/21 915am. 12pm (a pinch). 205pm. 810pm.  Up 8am: (Thank-you Buddy) Sunny and cooler with temps to upper 30's. When I put the Blue Can on the street I noticed that I got a Netflix disc yesterday. Watched Netflix disc 'PIG'. VARIETY'S review sums it up: "As a descent into the apparently high-stakes world of truffle-pig-poaching, Pig is unexpectedly touching; as a showcase for Cage’s brilliance, it’s a revelation."  'Old Yeller' it was not.  The Bonus Features show Nicholas Cage (with a master chef) learning to make the culinary dishes that were featured in the film. Finished 'CATCH-22' (Amazon Prime). The film got a '70 Metascore' and that's about what I felt. "It's a flawed film, hampered by weird tonal shifts and an overpopulated cast"..."Catch-22 limps along from vignette to vignette, one sees that what it lacks is cohesion, style and essential mood"..."The director of Who’s Afraid of Virgini...

Tu 12/21/21- Jon Gets Covid

Tu 12/21/21 910am. 1240pm (a pinch). 920pm.  Up 715am: Partly sunny and breezy with temps to mid 40's. Watched 'IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON' (Netflix). Another Time Travel themed film and barely worth the effort required to follow along. Lots of smoke and mirrors, but granddad saves his granddaughter so that she can save the world...or something; with Boyd Holbrook, Cleopatra Coleman, Bokeem Woodbine, and Michael C. Hall. Set in Philadelphia, but shot in Ontario, Canada.   ***Large 'boom' at 1135am. and even louder than when the power is interrupted by a squirrel. This made the national news and it was confirmed that it was a jet breaking the sound barrier. What was not covered....Is this unusual for jets to break the sound barrier. Why did the jet this morning break the sound barrier?  And is there any regulation? They said he 'course corrected'. What does that mean? Around noon I got an email from Janny saying that Xmas has been canceled. Jon tested positive...

Mo 12/20/21

Mo 12/20/21 9am. 1240pm (a pinch). 805pm.  Up 715am: Bright and sunny with temps to mid 40's. I wrote up 'THE BLUE AFTERNOON'  by William Boyd for the blog.  Watched Netflix disc 'TRAIN TO BUSAN PRESENTS: PENINSULA'.  This time the entire peninsula of Korea has been quarantined to control the zombie infestation.  A gang comes back to capture a truck filled with American dollars. It's got some crazy car chases, but it's more like watching a well designed video game. This film went to Cannes- hard to believe.  Wrote 'The Wrap. 1255pm: Downtown to mail back the disc. Out Governor and back Edwards; walked the northside of the golf course each way...ONE HOUR AND 45 MINS...Mp3...ROLAND KIRK; ELVIS COSTELLO Bonus Cuts; 'Modern Guilt '- BECK. 445: 2 MILES AT 3.6 PACE AND 0.50  and began JEWEL on J.R.E.  545pm: In the tub with 'COTTON COMES TO HARLEM' and listening to JIMMY REED; B.B. KING.  Watched 'THE HOLLYWOOD COMPLEX' (Amazon Pri...

Su 12/19/21

Su 12/19/21 825am. 140pm. 810pm.  Up 640am: Bright and sunny with temps to upper 30's. Watched 'INSIDE MOVES' (Amazon Prime). The film is openly emotional and embraces 70's Film Realism. The setting is a dive-bar in Oakland, California with a bunch of quirky characters and  a beer barrel of melodrama. Apparently the film was designed as a push for 'fair and equal treatment' for the handicapped.  A very early example of the 'Woke' movement?  "One thing you can't hide is when you're crippled inside"- John Lennon (was not featured in the film). Golden State Warriors are featured in the film and the team is still around today (as any person who follows sports would know, and I had no idea). Began 'THE GIRL FROM OSLO' (Netflix)  A melodramatic tale of kidnapping. A college aged girl from Norway goes to Israel to meet her biological father and is taken hostage by ISIS. Mom and dad to the rescue, and I'll binge on this one when I...

Sa 12/18/21- Tongue Blood Blister

Sa 12/18/21 9am. 1110am (a pinch). 815pm.  Up 645am: Overcast and raw with temps to upper 30's. Another day that I didn't leave the house.  Watching Ari Shaffir on Whiskey Ginger on YouTube. Watched 'A RAINY DAY IN NEW YORK' (Amazon Prime). Two rich college students travel to NYC. He wants a romantic weekend with just the two of them, but she interviews a world famous director, helps a cinematographer with his lovelife, and almost sleeps with a legitimate movie star. Lots of pithy and wry dialogue and I liked it;  with Timothee Chalamet, Elle Fanning, Liev Schreiber, Selena Gomez, Jude Law, and Rebecca Hall. Directed by Woody Allen. "I was 'Miss Amiability' in Scottsdale, but that's no big deal". "They say when drinking you should never mix grain and grape together, but I think they go really good".  Watched an episode of 'CAPTIVE' (Netflix)- "...history's most complex, high-stakes hostage negotiations as kidnapping victi...

Fr 12/17/21

Fr 12/17/21 9am. 1205pm (2 hits 2 hitter). 815pm.  Up 715am: Cloudy with temps only to 40 and rain is predicted for tonight. Watched 'FISHER' (Amazon Prime). Christian themed, yet concerns Internet catfishing, murder, and the celebration of Halloween! "You are a weed in God's garden". I was misled because the film garnered several awards, but they were completely unwarranted.  Filmed in Cleveland, Tennessee. Forgot to turn 'On' the rice cooker and I waited for 25 minutes on 'warm'. At first I thought it was broken,  but it was only an operator error. Finished 'STILLWATER' (Netflix disc).  Excellent portrayal of a specific type of rural, white, American, Christian male by Matt Damen. I was going to walk downtown to the Monroe PO to mail back the disc, but rain was a near certainty on the weather radar.  So it's on to the treadmill. 130pm: 5 MILES AT 3.6 PACE AND 0.50 SLANT and watched JOHN DENNEHY (political activist) on SKEPTIC TANK. ...

Th 12/16/21

Th 12/16/21 840am. 1035am (a pinch). 1215pm. 755pm.  Up 650am: Partly sunny and breezy with temps to mid 40's. No wind damage last night. Watched 'CLEMENTINA' (Hoopla).  It has the feel of a horror film, but it's really a suspense/thriller. A woman is badly beaten by her abusive husband. She loses the baby, but won't file charges. He comes back. They make up. They fight and the woman gets the upper hand and begins to torture him. A cop shows up at the house, overcomes the woman and frees the husband from further grisly maltreatment. Then, the husband kills the cop, and the woman gets the cop's gun and shoots the husband several times in the chest. The End. It was only about average and I was expecting more. Filmed in Argentina.  The plan is to be on the machines at Planet Fitness by 1pm and then to County Market/Fairhills after the workout. Began 'FOOL'S GOLD' (Netflix).  A silly romantic comedy involving sunken treasure that's only saved (slig...

We 12/15/21

We 12/15/21 920am. 210pm (a pinch). 815pm.  Up 7am: Cloudy and very windy with temps to the upper 60's. I gave Buddy some dry food around 6am. and I hoped that this might stop his 'foam vomit' early in the morning right before I usually get up.  This didn't work because he threw up his breakfast around 730am, however within an hour he seemed OK. Messing with both PC's for the December Windows Updates. The downstairs PC is updated and I'll run the living room PC this afternoon. Upstairs went without a problem, but it took a while and it must have been some kind of major update.   I added RAHSAAN ROLAND KIRK- 'The Warner Bros. Recordings' and BECK- 'Modern Guilt' to the Mp3 player.   Watched 'FAST COLOR' (Netflix).  A young black woman has telekinetic powers, but she doesn't know how to handle them. Maybe her mom and daughter can help her 'use her powers for good'...or something? The performances were great, but the script was s...

Tu 12/14/21- Dr. Maurer's Office Call

Tu 12/14/21 940 am. 12pm (a pinch). 140pm (a pinch). 9pm.  Up 715am: Mostly cloudy with a slight chance for rain this afternoon and temps to the mid 50's. I wrote up 'PROPHET OF DEATH' by Pete Early for the blog. ***I reported on IMDB because the ad for some fucking Disney movie (HAWKEYE) wouldn't allow you to get any information from the website. Downdetector.com also noted problems. I hope they fix it. It was working again when I checked at 110pm.  ***1030am: Got 'the' call from Dr. Maurer's office. "Takes only a minute"..." More of a feeling that 'something doesn't belong there' than pain"..."Bladder wall is so thick that the scan can't penetrate to see, so they must go in with a camera"..."Could be a lesion on the bladder or possibly cancer"...I will get the results on this visit. Then gave the bong a much needed 'non-gumming' treatment..."Putting out the fires with gasoline"...   ...

Mo 12/13/21

Mo 12/13/21 1105 (a pinch). 810pm. Up 7am: Sunny with temps to low 50's. I did not open the living room PC all day. I read before and after the visit to the vet. Buddy is in fine shape and Dr. Kirk said to just keep doing what I've been doing. 1015am: To Brewer 1110am: On the treadmill and watched 'BOB AND THE MONSTER' (AMAZON PRIME). The tale of BOB FORREST, his band Thelonious Monster, and his struggle with addiction. Read 'PROPHET OF DEATH' and listened to jazz all afternoon. ***Dr. Maurer's office didn't call. 420pm: On the treadmill...2 MILES AT 3.6 PACE AND 0.50 SLANT and watched a SKEPTIC TANK. In the tub with 'PROPHET OF DEATH ' and listening to 'BITCHES BREW'- Miles Davis. Got the log in order and wrote 'Late Wrap' to The Brandenburgs.   Got mesmerized by Ari Shaffir's  interview with Zac Amico, a guy that works at Troma Films.  Watched the next episode of 'REASONABLE DOUBT- A Tale Of Two Kidnappings' (Netfl...

Su 12 12/21

Su 12/12/21 925am. 1230pm (a pinch). 755pm.  Up 715am: Bright, breezy with temps to 50. Watched 'THE UNFORGIVABLE' (Netflix). Just out of prison for the murder of a Snohobish County deputy a woman tries to locate her baby sister.  It has been over twenty years and the state put the young child into foster care and she was later adopted by a caring middle class family. Things look bleak and only get worse as the plot gets crazier. The two brothers of the cop that she killed scheme to get even. One kidnaps who he thought was the felon's sister, but he takes the adopted sister by mistake. It was kind of compelling although so unbelievable that it was almost funny at times; with Sandra Bullock, Viola Davis, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Richard Thomas.  1215pm: PC is "Off" and will get an early workout at Planet Fitness. 145pm: To Planet Fitness...45" Cross.  45" Treadmill.  30" Bike.  30" Treadmill.  30" Cross.  Watched the last 2 episodes of ...

Sa 12/11/21

Sa 12/11/21 945am. 1210pm (a pinch). 8pm.  Up 715am: Partly cloudy and very windy with temps to low 40's. I pulled a pile of pine branches to the front after last night's storm. An Amazon warehouse collapsed in Edwardsville and 50 or more dead in Kentucky (near Hopkinsville: Home of Edgar Cayce). Watched 'MY SON' (Peacock-TV). A divorced father learns that his son is missing and it looks like a kidnapping (a government coverup is insinuated). Later he learns that his son had been abducted from a children's astronomy camp by a group that was trafficking young kids; with James McAvoy and Claire Foy. Beautiful location and the film was shot near Ballachulish and Glencoe, Scotland. Began 'AXIS' (Peacock-TV). Begins with a rich drunk waking up in a 'borrowed' sports car along a California highway.  The movie documents his 'fall from grace'. I cut it off at 46" and will hit the treadmill.  135pm: On the treadmill:  5 MILES AT 3.6 PACE AND 0....

Fr 12/10/21- Wicked Evening Storm

Fr 12/10/21 9am. 1115am (a pinch). 115pm (a pinch). 8pm.  Up 710am: Very foggy early with clouds and misty rain for most of the day with temps to about 60. Strong storms and possible tornadoes are predicted for tonnight.  Down The Reddit Rabbit Hole... Watched 'THE DEEPER YOU DIG' (Amazon Prime). A husband, wife, and daughter put together a fine Thriller/Supernatural/Horror film. The man down the street murders her daughter and mom gets help from Tarot cards and 'the spirit realm'. The electronic score was also their work and it was great. Filmed in upstate New York; Liberty, Roscoe, and Livingston Manor, New York. I had planned to watch a YouTube video- 'Question & Answer Livestream' about 'THE DEEPER YOU DIG', but I decided to watch two more episodes of 'TRUE STORY' (Netflix). It's kind of 'blah', but still interesting.  1pm: PC is 'Off' and planning to be on the machines at Planet Fitness by 2pm or earlier.  125pm: To ...

Th 12/9/21

Th 12/9/21 915am. 145pm (a pinch). 8pm (a pinch).  Up 730am: Partly sunny, breezy with temps to low 50's. Watched 'THE COURIER' (Amazon Prime).  The film is an account of Greville Wynne who acted as a courier for MI6 and the CIA during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. He was a British entrepreneur trying to build business contacts in Russia and was approached by a member of the KGB with information about the Soviet arms buildup. The film concerns the friendship that develops between Wynne and his Soviet KGB contact, Oleg Penkovsky; with Benedict Cumberbatch and Rachel Brosnahan. This seemed vaguely familiar, but well worth a second look. Began the first episode of 'TRUE STORY' (Netflix). A famous stand-up comedian awakes to find a dead hooker in his bed so he calls in a professional to take care of the problem. The price is too dear so he kills his 'fixer' and problems multiply. The first episode was an hour and there are seven more thirty minute installm...

We 12/8/21

We 12/8/21 855am. 11am (2 Hits 2 Hitter). 825pm.  ***Amazon is working properly and I deleted the Amazon Unlimited Music App because it works better from a web page. Up 7am: Bright and sunny with temps to about 40. Watched 'LUCY' (Peacock TV- a film by Luc Besson). A young woman is forced to become a drug mule and when the drug packet is surgically inserted, the bag leaks and the leakage boosts her mental capacity to superhuman levels. Shallow fun as Lucy evolves into a violent goddess; with Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman. Filmed in Taipei, Paris, and New York City. There is a 'LUCY 2' in the works.  Began 'THE CHILDREN OF MEN' (Amazon Prime). In a not too distant future women can no longer have children and the world has descended into an impoverished dystopian nightmare. Britain blames the foreigners, but one of the refugee women is having a baby and an English bloke becomes her knight in shining armor. The film captures the dark feelings of an exhaus...

Tu 12/7/21- Amazon Down!

Tu 12/7/21 935am. 140pm. 8pm.  Up 8am: Cloudy and cold with temps just below freezing all day. ***Around 11am I tried to login to Amazon and I was locked out for almost a half hour. I changed the password, but it took several attempts and I thought that I'd been hacked. At 1135am. Amazon Unlimited Music still not working.  Watched 'LOOPER' (Netflix).  In the future time travel has been developed, but it's only available to the criminal class. It's so illegal that the bad guys must travel thirty years into the future and erase all ties to the procedure. Or something like that happens because the 'time travel genre' is always a headache, but in this case 'why' is not as important as how the action unfolds; with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Piper Perabo, Bruce Willis, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. "Looper became one of the first major Hollywood films to be granted Chinese co-production status, opening up all kinds of fiscal possibilities for...

Mo 12/6/21

Mo 12/6/21 905am. 1145am (a pinch). 830pm.  Up 7am: Sunny, windy, and cold with temps only to mid 30's. I spent some time loading more Netflix discs to borrow. Each film I place in my list earns a meal for a needy family. Watched 'THE NIGHT CLERK' (Netflix). A young man with  Aspergers   works the night shift at a suburban hotel outside of Salt Lake City,Utah and witnesses a murder and falls in love. An interesting presentation in that it's a murder investigation within the story of a very different way of viewing the world...Variety- "Sheridan and de Armas’s scenes together leave an impression long after the rest of the movie evaporates."...The A.V. Club- " The Night Clerk will be remembered, if at all, as a movie de Armas was way too good for — an unfortunate mile marker on her road to movie stardom"... Only a '44' on the IMDB Metascore, but I liked it. ***Unpacked weights and came up with a routine using two of the lightest weights and t...

Su 12/5/21

Su 12/5/21 920am. 1150am (a pinch). 235pm. 830pm.  Up 720am: A little rain last night and today it will be cloudy, misty, and mid 50's with a chance of more light rain later this evening.  Watched 'TELLING LIES IN AMERICA' (Peacock TV).  A nerdy, yet slick Catholic high school student meets a silver-tongued radio DJ during his senior year in Cleveland, 1961. When it's all over, the boy finds his conscience, albeit somewhat selectively. This was a very different 'coming-of-age' tale in that the protagonist ended up slightly worse than where he started. The whole wide world did not suddenly open up to embrace his new perspective... "It doesn't matter how you get it, just so you get it".  Screenplay by Joe Eszterhas who did SHOWGIRLS and BASIC INSTINCT.   Then I finished the Netflix disc 'SHOWGIRLS'. Brilliantly inspired trash that so misses the point that it becomes something else entirely. Although it's packed with nudity, the film is co...

Sa 12/4/21- Weights Arrive

Sa 12/4/21 845am. 1255pm (a pinch). 310pm (a pinch). 805pm.  Up 710am: Partly sunny with temps to upper 40's. I wrote up 'CHILDWOLD' by Joyce Carol Oates for the blog although I only read half of the book. Although I really didn't like the novel 100%, I still thought it was worth noting.  Watched 'THE POWER OF THE DOG' (Netflix- A '90' Metascore!). The film is set in 1925 Montana (shot in New Zealand) and is the story of two brothers and the woman and boy who come between them. A slow paced and deeply cinematic presentation of sexual unease and primal rage; with Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, and Keith Carradine. Like nothing else! Directed by Jane Campion. Later in the evening I watched some videos about the ending of the film and learned that Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst are married in real life.  Then began 'FRIES! THE MOVIE' (Peacock). Watched to the 14'45" mark and will finish later tonight or tomorrow...ma...
