Funny Scene: At the funeral home the family must agree on the type of casket to use for the cremation. After they finally agree, they must go through the whole process again to pick the kind of fabric used to line the casket. Is an expensive service a legitimate homage to the deceased or is it just a waste of money because it all goes up in flames? Low key and emotionally charged and well worth a look. When I was cleaning up the mess I noticed a clump of hair in the vomit and a little after 7am I fed him a little more of the canned food. He wolfed it down and scarfed up the 'crunchies' that he ignored at first feeding. I hope he keeps it down. He did not. He threw it all up by 730am. I'll just keep a close eye on him and no food till 930am. I fed him again at 930am and he threw up again on his rug by the breezeway door. The first film that I've seen that completely incorporates porn film esthetics into a Crime Thriller genre movie.  The film is similar in many ways to the Hollywood film 'THELMA & LOUISE' only 'BAISE-MOI' is Triple X- Rated. Those idyllic days ended when the Nazis dropped the hammer and the Jews were sent to extermination camps. A film produced in the Netherlands and filmed in Hungary. Well worth a look.  After the film I watched a twelve minute YouTube documentary where the real Hannah talked about her relationship with Anne and what it was like in the ghetto and the camps. The film has one of the most convoluted plot lines ever and even for a Detective/ Thriller it is confusing. Maybe it's meant to be ironic because the detective in the film admits that he doesn't like most fictional mysteries because they are not realistic. In real life victims are invariably murdered by people that they know and in bad fiction the perpetrator is usually a mysterious stranger that only the author would know. And this film is so impenetrable that you almost need the screenplay to properly understand who did what in the film. When I started the disc I thought that it would be entirely a 'Musical' so I almost turned it off , but it's got an innovative storyline and the musical numbers were only a small (yet powerful) part of the film. The main protagonist is a liar and it's really hard to empathize with his situation although the film is insightful in demonstrating how one lie of omission can bring about a chain of events that end in catastrophe. He allows five candidates nine days to prove that they are up to the task. Very much an art film, but the ethical dilemmas presented are engaging. I decided to watch 'THE EXPENDABLES' (Netflix) before I realized that I had a disc to view.  Watched Netflix disc 'CRIMES OF THE FUTURE'. In a gloomy and dystopian future the human body has been made malleable by evolution or genetic alteration and elective surgery has become the new sex. According to Cronenberg in the bonus features he says the film is "about the crimes committed by the human body against itself...". I had seen this before but remembered only the first scene where the young boy is eating a plastic wastebasket. Well worth a second viewing. Strange and hauntingly beautiful ...

The movie makes the case that this is just one more example of how the rich can screw the less fortunate. A therapist loses her mind after a patient commits suicide in front of her. She learns that a demon force will take possession of her and will force her to take her own life within a week. The entire movie is a flashback where a woman and a young boy are having a dialogue and I didn't really understand this until I watched an 'Ending Explained' YouTube video. It's the tale of two mothers. One mother has a son that almost died from a poisoning accident. She took him to a local shaman and this woman said that the boy wasn't strong enough to repel the poison so she 'split the boy's soul' so that another entity could provide strength for recovery. When the boy survived he was no longer the same boy and he might be sharing 'soul space' with the daughter of the other mother. This was a truly odd film and it was taken from a best selling novel. When the killer is finally killed the police say he was a 'revenge sleeper agent' left by the Nazis to terrorize and destabilize the local Russian populace.
