The rapists claim that it was all consensual and there was no rape, and the local justice system seems to agree. But a rogue detective takes matters into his own hands and gets justice for the victims. The film is wildly melodramatic and a ham like Nicholas Cage is cast perfectly;  Nicolas Cage, Anna Hutchison, Deborah Kara Unger, and Don Johnson. It's a bit hard to believe that a ninth grade boy would be able to dazzle people four years older than he is even in a 'coming of age' tale. I suppose this is possible, but not very probable.{ "Welcome to the island of misfit toys." It is the tale of a boy who is heir to the throne but his uncle kills the king and claims the kingdom. The boy vows that he will reclaim his rightful inheritance and seek revenge; with Alexander Skarsgard, Nicole Kidman, Ethan Hawke, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Willem Dafoe. 5 wins & 56 nominations. Finished 'OBSESSION' (Netflix). The last act begins as the son falls to his death after witnessing his father fuck his fiancee.  After the funeral the father is desperate to reunite with his lover, but she says 'keep away'. In the final scene she is in a therapy session and it's revealed that the therapist looks very much like her brother. This boy (it's not clear how old they were) took advantage of her sexually and this sexual abuse shaped almost every aspect of her erratic and painful personal life.  The film is based on a novel called 'DAMAGED'. This British series was lurid, gaudy, and over the top melodrama, but I really liked it. Watched '...

Watched Netflix disc 'CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS'. Funny one liners and morally ambiguous situations make this a thoroughly entertaining yet thought provoking film. A theme of the film is that humans can bear unbelievable sins (such as murder) without lasting consequence. Over time, the event and the ethical implications fade into the past. Woody's character doesn't get the girl, but in real life he scored Mia Farrow; with Martin Landau, Woody Allen, Claire Bloom, Anjelica Huston, Alan Alda, Sam Waterston, and Mia Farrow. A young self absorbed Turkish actress is cast in a shampoo commercial and she magically transforms into her character in the advertisement. Life as a middle class married woman with a husband and two young children is totally opposite of her former carefree life. A spy thriller about the planned release of a deadly virus by rogue elements within the US intelligence services.  They want to alert Americans of the dire threat of bioterrorism and then bring about a fascist state. A female agent needs to find out the details of a messenger code that will bring about the deadly attack. The key to this code allows the bearer the ability to change the plans. Lots of plot twists and turns and a well crafted espionage film; with  Noomi Rapace, Orlando Bloom, Toni Collette, John Malkovich, and Michael Douglas. "46" METASCORE. An odd film about a young Swedish woman living as an expat in Japan. She meets her photographer 'soul-mate' who turns out to be a serial killer. And along the way she also meets an American woman who has eyes on her boyfriend and this woman disappears. The investigation into the missing American woman is how the movie begins and the story is told in flashbacks. Mom is dissolute and cares only for herself and forces her young son to extort money from family members to support her self indulgent behavior. When the boy is only seventeen, she convinces him to kill his grandparents to get their money. Based on an actual incident from 2014. "They are my children, and I will raise them as I see fit and no one can tell me different". A pitch black comedy about a guy who was a 'very successful' detective as a preteen and then has trouble becoming an accomplished adult investigator.
