We 3/31/21- FOUNDATION RECOVERY: 1 pm.

We 3/31/21- FOUNDATION RECOVERY: 1 pm. 850 am. 410 pm. 9 pm.  Up 720 am: Sunny, breezy and temps only to the upper 40's. THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR (1968) and THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS were to leave Amazon Prime on 3/31, but 'CROWN' is already gone. So I watched 'THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS'. ***1030 am: The guy from Foundation Recovery said he finished early on another appointment and was going to come now. 1045 am~1245 pm. 6 grand and includes $2,000 for drywall removal, but does not include re-hanging the drywall. A better system than Greentree because the trench is accessible if it ever becomes clogged again, and this is a free service. His Trench isn't in the mud but placed on the 'footings'. He can do it in 3~4 weeks and it will take two days. Woods is basically the same as his outfit. Must call Repair Masters. 125 pm... ON THE TREADMILL... 5 Miles and finished ARI SHAFFIR'S 420 CELEBRATION.  Read for a while in the living room. I called Mitch's Lawn Ser...

Tu 3/30/21

Tu 3/30/21 9 am. 1140 am. 235 pm. 850 pm.  Up 755 am: Partly cloudy with temps to the upper 60's. I watched 'NICO, 1988' (Kanopy). An Art Film about the last two years of Nico's life. Trine Dyrholm delivers a heart-felt performance of the icy, blonde, bohemian artist who couldn't accept the fact that she will be remembered as only a minor footnote in popular music. Nico rants that she only wants to talk about 'her music', but everyone knows if it wasn't for Lou Reed and John Cale there would be no 'her music'. Basically the film is a 'warts and all' portrait of a difficult woman artist, but I liked it. Then watched 'ROBOCOP' (Amazon Prime- it leaves Prime tomorrow). A Detroit detective is mowed down by a psychopathic crew, but is 're-assembled' as a Cop-Cyborg. And, just like 'JOHN WICK'..."Boy, did he get his revenge", but 'ROBOCOP' is not nearly as clever; with; with Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, ...

Mo 3/29/21- Green Hyundai Headlights/Penney's

Mo 3/29/21- Green Hyundai Headlights/Penney's 1020 am. 145 pm.  940 pm.  Up 8 am: Partly cloudy and windy with temps to mid 60's. I wrote 'The Wrap' and sent it. I didn't mention that I was thinking of maybe paying the Brandenburgs a visit after I finish at Green on Dirksen. Maybe I'll text...(It didn't happen) I finished the last hour of '2067' (Hoopla). Ethan Whyte saves mankind by sending a load of plants to the future so that Earth can regenerate. I still don't know what was behind the wristband that his father attached to Ethan. Not a bad 'B-Movie SciFi'; with an Australian cast. I began 'OPERATION VARSITY BLUES: The College Admissions Scandal (Netflix) and at 1145 am. ON THE TREADMILL...FIVE MILES and finished the film. Phone conversations were recreated verbatim and enhanced the documentary style of the film; with Mathew Brody.  150 pm Left 940 for Green and then across the street to Penney's: 2 pairs of shorts, a Spring j...

Su 3/28/21-Not on WiFi at Planet

Su 3/28/21- Not on WiFi at Planet 920 am.  140 pm. 925 pm.  Up 8 am: Breezy, cooler, partly cloudy with temps only to 50. ***Buddy threw up either last night or this morning, but he still seems upbeat and wants more food.  Watched 'ENEMY' (Hoopla)...."Chaos is order yet undeciphered"... A depressed history professor notices an actor in a DVD movie that could be his exact double. After they schedule a meeting, the 'look-alike' actor is convinced that the professor has slept with his partner, so he demands that he take the prof's girlfriend for a romantic weekend. And then the actor falls for the actor's pregnant wife. And, in the end, a huge spider appears in a bedroom. Strange, yet compelling; with Jake Gyllenhaal, Melanie Laurent, Sarah Gadon, and Isabella Rossellini. Filmed in Toronto and Mississauga, Canada. I watched several YouTube videos about what the film is supposed to mean. This explanation seems the best. The movie is really only about one ...

Sa 3/27/21

Sa 3/27/21 920 am. 1245 pm. 1015 pm. Up 8am: Partly cloudy with rain beginning this afternoon- temps almost to 70. Watched 'BLOOD TIES' (Hoopla). Based on a French film that was based on a French novel, and the director of this English/American version is also French..."Back In The New York Groove"... Set in Brooklyn and Manhattan in the mid 70's and concerns two brothers- one's a cop and the other a criminal. Great set details, cars, clothing, and the soundtrack is excellent; with Clive Owen, Billy Crudup, Marion Cotillard, Mila Kunis, James Caan, Noah Emmerich, and Lili Taylor. I also borrowed 'TAMMY'S ALWAYS DYING' from Hoopla. 1 pm: A walk to mail back the Netflix disc before the rain begins. PO box by Walgreens, across to Washington, Adams, Governor, South on alley west of Walnut, Leland, Wiggins, up the hill, Parkview, and down to 940...JUST UNDER TWO HOURS... Mp3... 'Already Free' ~ DEREK TRUCKS BAND, 'Armed Forces' ~ ELVIS,...

Fr 3/26/21- Greentree: 1 pm./ County Market- $101.00

Fr 3/26/21- Greentree: 1 pm./ County Market- $101.00 345 pm. 10 pm.  Up 735am: Cloudy with temps to the mid 50's. ***Buddy threw up again last night, but he seems OK this morning and he's kept his breakfast down for over an hour. I wrote up 'THE KING OF TORTS' by John Grisham for the blog.    Watched 'UNDER SUSPICION' (Netflix) and finished the series on the treadmill. Hopefully I can get in the miles before the visit from Greentree. The guy from Greentree called at 1050 am. and said he could be here by 1130 am. Come on ahead. I got in TWO MILES at 3.6 Pace.  Dan arrived about 1120am and it lasted about an hour. He feels that the center trench needs to be redone. His estimate is 5,000 without the bill for the drywall work. He checked the pump and it works correctly, however the diameter of the pipe is not big enough. Who knows?  I went to Fairhills to do the shopping and spent $101.00. And back on the treadmill when I came back and did THREE MILES at 3.4 p...

Th 3/25/21- Dentist: 210pm.

Th 3/25/21- Dentist: 210pm. 850 pm.  845 am.  Up 730am: Cloudy with rain beginning this afternoon and continuing through the night. Temps to mid 50's. Watched the last fifty minutes of 'GET ON UP' (Netflix) the James Brown biopic and I noticed that Mick Jagger was an executive producer. Watched episode 1 of  'UNDER SUSPICION: Uncovering The Wesphael Case' (Netflix). 1115 am: Continued 'UNDER SUSPICION' on the treadmill to get in the mileage before the dentist appointment... FIVE MILES at 3.4 pace. I finished episode 3 and then more of JOE ROGAN on ARI SHAFFIR'S podcast. Reading GRISHAM till 140pm drive to the dentist office. Got $25 gas at the station near the YMCA before the appointment. $300 plus for the exam/cleaning and now patients contact their insurance companies, but the dentist provides the forms. My teeth are fine and my first visit to the dentist that was under a grand in a long long time.  I went to Target /Aldi/and Carnival Shoes. I saw not...

We 3/24/21

We 3/24/21 920 am. 1250 pm. 915 pm. Up 750am: Partly sunny with temps to 60. Watched 'RAIN MAN'(Netflix). A young 'wheeler-dealer' from Los Angeles learns that his estranged father has died and the 3 million dollar inheritance goes to an older brother he never knew about. The older brother is autistic (artistic?) and they go on a road trip from Ohio back to LA. I was surprised by the large number of healthcare professionals listed in the credits; with Dustin Hoffman, Tom Cruise, and directed by Barry Levinson. Won 4 Oscars and another 22 wins & 23 nominations.  . ***Buddy puked 940am. He really emptied his guts, but he's kept down his food all day. 1 pm: Parkview, Wash. Pk., Wiggins, Outer Park, Park, north side of park and west on Williams Blvd., Parkview, Fairway, and up to 940...ONE HOUR AND 50 MINS... Mp3... THE FIRM, JON SPENCER BLUES BAND, DEREK TRUCKS BAND. Tu 3/23/21

Tu 3/23/21 1005am. 310pm. 925pm.  Up 810am: Cloudy with rain beginning this morning and continuing through the night- temps to 60. Very little rain actually fell. I wrote up 'PERPETUAL WAR FOR PERPETUAL PEACE' by Gore Vidal for the blog. Watched 'BLACK OR WHITE' (Netflix). A grandfather and grandmother are raising their mixed race granddaughter. Grandma dies in a car accident and granddad must become a single parent, yet his black in-laws and the child's father have other ideas. The film concerns racial and class differences and sometimes the film's moralizing hits the mark and I suppose it could begin a dialog about racism and class, but overall it is somewhat ethically tone deaf. And it wasn't only the race issue that seemed confused, but equating alcoholism with crack use was also problematic; with Kevin Costner, Octavia Spencer, Bill Burr, Anthony Mackie, and Gillian Jacobs. Village Voice: "Occasionally, the film rouses into something thoughtful, e...

Mo 3/22/21

Mo 3/22/21 920 am. 240pm. 905pm. Up 8am: Partly cloudy and breezy with temps to mid 60's. Rain all day tomorrow. Wrote up 'THE INNOCENT' by Ian McEwan for the blog. Watched 'EXTRACTION' (Netflix). An Indian drug lord's son is kidnapped by a drug kingpin from Bangladesh. Tyler Rake is called in to rescue the kid and they get trapped in a city that's under full lockdown and all the bad guys and police are looking to kill them. A slightly better than average Action/Thriller; with Chris Hemsworth.     "You don't die from falling into a river, you die from staying submerged in it". I made appointments for basement repair with Helitech, Woods Foundation Recovery, and Greentree. Then I wrote the Weekly Wrap and sent it. 245 pm: Oakmont, Country Club, Laurel, Park thru Wash. Park to Adams/Washington, dropped the disc at the box by Walgreens, Lawrence, Kenyon, and down to 940...TWO HOURS... Mp3... PAUL BUTTERFIELD, RICHARD THOMPSON, BELLE & SEBASTI...

Su 3/21/21- First Time To Planet Fitness In A Year!

Su 3/21/21 940 am. 915pm. 1055pm.  Up 8am: Mostly sunny, breezy with temps to mid 60's. ***I successfully downloaded Windows Updates/ March on the downstairs PC. It ran all night and this morning I did the 'Restart'. No problems except it takes an inordinate amount of time and I've never done one of these on 'Automatic' or when 'the computer is not in use'.  Watched 'BEAST' (Amazon Prime). I found this film and 'THE TWO FACES OF JANUARY' in my Kanopy queue that were on Amazon Prime. Set in contemporary time on the island of Jersey in the Channel Islands (Guernsey). A young woman with a troubled past falls for a local 'bad boy'. A serial killer is active on the island and is her new boyfriend the murderer? A believable romance between two rather raw and unpolished individuals. Some fine acting by Jessie Buckley, Johnny Flynn, and Geraldine James. ***Began the Windows Updates on the living room PC and they successfully downloaded w...

Sa 3/20/21

Sa 3/20/21 940 am. 115 pm. 920 pm.  Up 815am: Bright, sunny, and calm with temps to the upper 50's. ***Two Netflix discs and 'MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN' arrived in the mail. Watched Netflix disc 'HACKSAW RIDGE'. It reminded me of the '60's Western Genre' of film in that the movie reaffirmed and celebrated nearly every questionable stereotype..."Hacksaw Ridge doesn’t hum Mel Gibson’s favorite themes; it shouts them"... 125 pm: To the Monroe PO to mail back 'HACKSAW RIDGE'. Out Edwards; back 2nd south and took South Grand alley west thru Wash. Pk., up the hill, Parkview, and down to 940...TWO HOURS... Mp3... 'Taking Tiger Mountain', 'Spooky Two', 'Some Girls'.  Reading 'THE INNOCENT' in the living room.  605 pm... Fr 3/19/21

Fr 3/19/21 935am. 1250pm. 925pm.  Up 730am: Bright and sunny with temps to 50. I wrote up 'THE WATERWORKS' and '3 SECONDS' for the blog. I added two cds by Art Blakey to the mp3 player. While I was writing, Ellison's office called and said I don't need the iron supplement although it's still low. And, I corrected my medical record to show that I did have the second shot of the shingles vaccine. Watched 'GLADIATOR' (Amazon Prime). Directed by Ridley Scott. Set in 180 AD where one quarter of the world's population lived under Roman rule. "People should know when they're conquered". "At My Signal Unleash Hell". Not a bad film, but not great. I stopped the film with 35" left because I wanted to take a long walk. ***During the film I made an appointment to have the headlight repaired at Hyundai on Monday, 3/29 at 230pm. It should take 2 hours, but I'm not sure if I'll take their shuttle back home to wait. 105 pm: ...

Th 3/18/21- Wellness Visit Dr. Ellison: 1pm.

Th 3/18/21- Wellness Visit Dr. Ellison: 1pm. 920am. 455pm. 920pm.  Up 830am: Rain and windy all day with temps to 40's. Watched more of 'DEALER' (Netflix). It seemed like an authentic 'trip through da hood' with a real gang from Marseilles. A novel use of  'Found Footage' (CLOVERFIELD) style of filmmaking and the ten minute episodes only added to the edginess. Watched the first episode of  'THE AGE OF SAMURAI' (Netflix). The American Civil War lasted four years and Japan's battle for reunification lasted a hundred and fifty years. Generations of war would dramatically alter their national character.  1240pm: PC is 'Off' and preparing for the Wellness Visit. Left for the visit at 1220pm. A male nurse did the weight/blood pressure part. Dr. Ellison came in and I talked about my ears (wax buildup/hearing loss) , beginning workouts, iron pills, magnesium pills. He said that it would be OK to take the free hearing test at Beltone. He also sai...

We 3/17/21

We 3/17/21 910 am. 245 pm. 950pm.    Up 8am: Overcast and rain beginning late this morning and continuing through tomorrow with temps in the upper 40's. Almost 2 inches of rain expected. Watched 'SAVAGES' (Netflix). A lurid and gritty romantic tale of a three-way love triangle made up of two guys and the quintessential California girl. This plays out as the two guys fight a Mexican cartel for supremacy in the US/Mexican marijuana drug trade. The bad guys kidnap the girl for leverage and the two guys go ballistic to get her back. There is a surprising amount of anti-cannabis propaganda in the film; pot use causes memory loss and suggesting that smoking weed is (horror of horrors!)....'drug use'; (Directed by Oliver Stone) with Blake Lively, Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Benicio Del Toro, Shea Whigham, John Travolta, Salma Hayek, and Emile Hirsch. "Social Engineering because there is no patch for human stupidity". 1250pm: ON THE TREADMILL...4 1/2 Mil...

Tu 3/16/21-Taxes: 1pm.

Tu 3/16/21-Taxes: 1pm. 925am. 10pm.  Up 8am: Overcast and fog early- to mid 50's. Paid the cards. ***Dax's office called and I made an appointment for 1pm Tues. 4/6 Began a Netflix series 'BEHIND HER EYES', but couldn't get into it, so began 'THE LOST PIRATE KINGDOM' (Netflix). This one wasn't completely bad, but not worth pursuing. And next, I watched the last hour of 'SMALL AXE: MANGROVE' (Amazon Prime). The Mangrove restaurant continued to be harassed for another two decades and the trials continued until a financial settlement was granted, but the police never issued a formal apology. Watched a German video about QAnon.  1230 pm: PC is 'Off' and left for the tax office at 1250pm. No federal tax and $139 to the state and $205 for the return. Next year I will owe $13,000 to the feds. Tax law said I didn't have to withdraw from my Ameriprise account and pay taxes in 2020. To County Market/Fairhills: $96. On the treadmill... 4 1/2 Mi...

Mo 3/15/21

Mo 3/15/21 905am. 410pm. 915pm.   Up 8am: Cloudy and periods of rain all day with temps to mid 40's. Watched 'BLOODY NOSE, EMPTY POCKETS' (Kanopy). A documentary about the last day of a dive-bar called 'ROARING 20'S' in an ignored corner of Las Vegas- A more than tragic Desolation Row, indeed!... "I've got a twenty, anybody got any Adderall?"..."Nobody else wants my ass, that's why I'm in here". "Alcohol didn't ruin me. I ruined my life and then I became an alcoholic"..."I fuck well and I do shit"... After watching the film I learned that characters the directors already knew were filmed drinking in a New Orleans bar and hundreds of minutes were carefully edited together for 'the best possible' final cut. Exterior footage was shot in Las Vegas.  Fictional Documentary? Watched the first episode of 'THE ONE' (Netflix).  1245pm: ON THE TREADMILL...4 1/2 Miles at 3.4 pace and continued with mor...

Su 3/14/21- Visit to Red Oak-2pm.

Su 3/14/21- Visit to Red Oak-2pm. 920am. 920pm...not a typo, but a very long day. Up 820am: (New Time) Overcast with temps to mid 50's. Watched Netflix disc 'SORCERER'.  Grim Realism. Music by Tangerine Dream. From the French film, 'Wages Of Fear'. Four different storylines over the course of the first hour DO NOT blend plausibly, yet at the halfway point it all begins to gel; with        . Noon: PC is 'Off' and will get in mileage on the treadmill before the trip to Read Oak. 4 1/4 Miles and watched ADAM CAROLLA on 'Whiskey Ginger' and more HOW NEAL Feel. 135pm left for Red Oak: 2pm~630pm. A beautiful home and they liked the garden lights that I bought as a housewarming gift. On the way home I stopped at the Monroe PO to mail back the Netflix discs. ***Skipped Weekly Cleaning today.  In the tub with DOCTOROW and listening to CANNONBALL ADDERLY and MILT JACKSON.  Watched 'I SMILED BACK' (Crackle). Sa 3/13/21

Sa 3/13/21 850am. 1130am. 920pm.  Up 720am: Cloudy with temps to upper 50's. The next several days will be cloudy with the chance of rain. ***Set the Casio for Daylight Saving Time which begins at 2am. Watched 'DOG WASHERS' (Netflix). A gritty and quirky, Art House film about small time drug thugs in Tulua, Columbia. The boss of a small crew is threatened by a rival and his demise brings about a violent and bloody downward spiral for all involved. An aging prostitute, who is only one of the peripheral characters, ends up with the bag full of money. I really liked this one a whole lot. ***I found a new streaming service called 'Plex TV' and watched 'ALL YOUR DEAD ONES directed by Carlos Moreno (DOG WASHERS). A poor farmer awakes on Sunday, election day, to find a pile of more than fifty corpses in his field. The police and the military do less than zero and just move the pile of bodies to a school soccer field. And there the entire cast and crew are featured in ...

Fr 3/12/21

Fr 3/12/21 815am.  240pm. 925pm.  Up 7am: Partly cloudy with temps to 60. Watched the last two episodes of 'UNORTHODOX' (Netflix).  Esty has never used a search engine and she's told that she can ask anything she wants to know. So she queries, "Is there a god"?  Her husband has never used a smartphone and learns he can access the Internet. He holds the phone to his face and asks, "Where is Esty"?. The four hour series is melodramatic, harrowing and fascinating- I loved it. Bonus Feature, 'Making Of Unorthodox'; 20". Then I watched the first episode of 'FIREFLY LANE'. A friendship between two women that comes across as hollow and corny. One is brash and outspoken and the other is ditzy and has a heart of gold, but neither is very believable. This might be the only one for this series.   READ '3 Seconds' /napped in the living room. 250pm...Parkview, Wash. Pk., Wiggins, Outer Park, Across McA. to Whittier, north to Cedar and ea...

Th 3/11/21

Th 3/11/21 920 am. 915pm.  Up 730am: It rained last night and a chance of showers early this afternoon. Partly sunny with temps to mid 50's. Watched 'DOWN IN THE VALLEY' (Kanopy). A strange tale of a romantic sociopath who falls for a troubled teenage girl. She lives in the San Fernando Valley of California with her father who is a prison guard and her shy younger brother.  Harlan, the obsequious psycho, believes that he's a cowboy 'miscast' in the 21st century and his 'real' destiny is to ride off into the sunset with his girl...and her brother; with Edward Norton, Evan Rachel Wood, David Morse, Rory Culkin, and Bruce Dern. Some nice acting in an implausible story, but that was part of the charm.  1230pm: ON THE TREADMILL...4 1/2 Miles and watched 'THE GIANT BEAST THAT IS THE GLOBAL ECONOMY- Money Laundry'. (Amazon Prime) and more of THE CLOWN AND THE CANDYMAN. Read more of '23 Seconds' and at 4pm biked THE LYNNHAVEN LOOP 3 Times~ 50 Mi...

We 3/1021

We 3/1021 855am. 115pm. 915pm.  Up 715am: Overcast, very windy (wind gusts could hit 50 mph) and warm with temps to 70. Watched 'NO ESCAPE' (Netflix). Not exactly a racist film, but most certainly xenophobic. A man takes his family on a business trip to an unnamed country in Southeast Asia and a violent anti-American coup occurs with no warning. One of the reviews mentioned that it couldn't have been more prejudiced if the family had been rescued by the KKK. The action/adventure was fever-pitched, tense, and exhausting, and none of it was even slightly plausible, yet still an enjoyable ('hate your self in the morning') experience; with Owen Wilson, Lake Bell, and Pierce Brosnan. Filmed in Thailand.  Watched the final episode of 'UTOPIA' (Amazon Prime). It's crazy how close a zany and madcap work of fiction could be so much like our current reality. The world is forced to gear up for a mass inoculation during a pandemic- that's 'the fiction' ...

Tu 3/9/21

Tu 3/9/21 845am. 905pm.  Up 730am: Partly sunny, breezy and temps to about 70. Wrote up 'LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR' by Judith Rossner for the blog. Watched 'SOPHIE SCHOLL' (Hoopla). A film about the 'White Rose' student movement in Nazi Germany near the end of WWII, but the central focus (and most interesting part of the film) is the interrogation of Sophie Scholl by her Nazi inquisitor. Both are convinced that they are right and know what's best for Germany. Sophie champions free speech and feels that it's imperative that the German people have a right to know the true nature of Nazism. While her interrogator believes that Hitler's policies are essential for Germany to lead the world and stop the spread of Communism. The 'White Rose' group circulated thousands and thousands of anti-Nazi leaflets throughout Germany during the war. Sophie Scholl was only 21 years old and was found guilty of high treason by the People's Court and executed (b...

Mo 3/8/21- COVID Booster: 1115am/ SHOTS FIRED!

Mo 3/8/21- COVID Booster: 1115am/ SHOTS FIRED! 835am. 410pm. 1005pm.  Up 730am: Partly sunny, breezy with temps to the upper 60's. Watched 'TIME' (Amazon Prime). A black woman from Shreveport, LA. is raising her sons while her husband does hard time in the Louisiana State prison system. It's many minutes into the film before you realize that he's behind bars because they were both convicted of bank robbery. She was offered twelve years and she took it. He did not take the deal. The film spans two decades of this family's lives, but nothing in the film deals with the crime of bank robbery, yet it  attempts to  show the injustice of the overly harsh sentence. The film makes the case that prisons should be rehabilitative in nature and not punitive; According to 'www.federalcharges.com'- Bank robbery is a Class A felony with the minimum sentence 10 years and the maximum is 30 years or life imprisonment.  1030am: The PC is 'Off' and will leave for th...

Su 3/7/21

Su 3/7/21 9am. 350pm. 855pm.  Up 745am: Partly sunny and temps to the low 60's. It will be in the lower 60's for the next several days. I wrote up 'WINTER' by Len Deighton for the blog. I watched the Netflix disc 'HOPE SPRINGS'. A British man travels to a town called 'Hope' in Vermont (filmed in British Columbia) to escape a failed relationship. The girl follows, yet he's already fallen in love with a local care-giver. Emotional mayhem ensues. This is a quintessential example of a  'date movie';  with Colin Firth, Heather Graham, Minnie Driver, Mary Steenburgen, and Oliver Platt. . There is a rest home in Hope called, 'The Shining Shores'..."Shining Shores- No, Whining Whores". The film is based on 'New Cardiff', a novel by Charles Webb ('The Graduate'). Filmed in Fort Langley, British Columbia; 50 miles east of Vancouver, BC. ***Randomly checking through my checking account at Heartland and found a charge t...

Sa 3/6/21

Sa 3/6/21 940am. 510pm. 940pm.  Up 805am: Mostly sunny with temps to mid 50's. Watched 'SENTINELLE' (Netflix).   "Klara who is thirty-three years old. She is an interpreter in the French Army. After experiencing the horrors of war in Syria, she was transferred to Nice as part of Operation Sentinel." A better film might have been to concentrate on the colossal risk of having an opioid addict in a deployed anti-terrorist commando group.  A couple of nasty, over-the-top, demonstrations of the art of fisticuffs.  There really is an 'Operation Sentinelle'. It's a French military operation with 10,000 soldiers and 4,700 police and is part of an ongoing state of emergency in France due to continued terror threats and attacks. Filmed in Belgium, Morocco, and Nice, Alpes-Maritimes, France. Then I began 'THE SOURCE FAMILY' (Amazon Prime). 1230pm: ON THE TREADMILL...4 1/4 Miles at 3.4 pace. Finished 'THE SOURCE FAMILY'. Fr 3/5/21- County Market: $106.00

Fr 3/5/21 915am. 445pm. 955pm.  Up 8am: Another bright and sunny day with temps of about 50'. Torn between watching a movie and hitting County Market for grocery shopping, but 'The Morning Movie' won the debate. There shouldn't be many shoppers early this afternoon. Watched 'THE SIGNAL' (Netflix). A hacker called 'NOMAD' has invaded a university's computer system and a trio of computer geeks working for the system track 'NOMAD' to Area 51 in the Nevada desert. But 'NOMAD' is really 'DAMON' which is possibly an extraterrestrial or intergalactic corporate entity that has begun a colony near Earth...I guess. It had me guessing the whole film, but the ending was just a bit less than satisfying; with Brenton Thwaites, Olivia Cooke, Beau Knapp, Laurence Fishburne, and Lin Shaye. Filmed in New Mexico and some nice scenic views at The Taos Gorge Bridge. Noonish: ON THE TREADMILL... 4 AND 1/4 MILES at 3.4 pace... Watched more THE JOE ...

Th 3/4/21- Move Day For The Brandenburgs

Th 3/4/21 905am. 205pm. 510pm. 920pm.  Up 730am: Bright and sunny with temps to mid 50's. Today is 'Move Day' for the Brandenburgs. Watched 'CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE' (Netflix). An exceptional comedic cast with a goofy romantic premise, but it works- "Major League Rom-Com" ; with Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, Analeigh Tipton, Joey King, John Carroll Lynch, Kevin Bacon, and Marisa Tomei. Noon: On Treadmill... FOUR MILES... and began 'MURDER AMONG THE MORMONS' (Netflix); one episode and part of another. A series of bombings rocked Salt Lake City in 1985. Newly discovered 19th century documents cast doubt on Joseph Smith's meeting with an angel that led to the founding of The Church of The Latter Day Saints. Could this have been the motives for the bombings, but were they authentic documents? An interesting True Crime series.  Read 'WINTER' in the living room for a bit and then watched 'THE LOOK OF SILENCE' (A...

I finally wrote up 'THE TURNER DIARIES' by Andrew MacDonald (Dr. William Pierce) for the blog and watched several minutes of his old YouTube videos. Watched 'WHO AM I' (Netflix). A young hacker from Berlin wants to become a 'somebody' instead of a 'nobody'. His Cyber-Terrorist group uses the name 'CLAY'- Clowns Laughing At You. He fakes multiple personality disorder so the authorities believe his 'gang' was really just a manifestation of his various personalities. But after the implementation of an elaborate 'Double Sting', the hackers live to hack another day. Interesting Angle: Dow Jones Averages graph is made to give 'the one finger salute'. Not bad. Then I watched 'CONNECTED'. Argentine House Music DJ, Hernan Cattaneo blends a 63 piece symphonic orchestra and his electronic music during a four-night engagement at The Teatro Colon. Thi...

Tu 3/2/21

Tu 3/2/21 915am. 1220pm.  440pm. 935pm. Up 730am: Bright and sunny with temps to low 50's. Wrote a brief 'Wrap' and then watched Netflix disc 'THE INFORMER'. This film is available on Amazon Prime and I should have run this through goodreels.com so I wouldn't have wasted a Netflix disc pick. A compelling drama about a man who is forced to work undercover with the FBI. Due to conflicts between the feds and local NY law enforcement he's left out to dry. A Polish crime gang with connections within the embassy wants him inside the prison system so that they can run the drug trade. The feds want to take down the entire operation, but renege on their promise of safety for him and his family. ***I bought the novel for Kindle on Amazon for $2.99. The novel was set in Sweden and the book is a collaboration between a Swedish professional journalist and an ex-criminal who founded a criminal rehabilitation program; Anders Roslund and Borge Hellstrom. 1230pm: PC is ...

Mo 3/1/21- New Bathroom Faucet

Mo 3/1/21 1020am. 505pm. 915pm. Up 710am: Bright and sunny with temps to mid 40's. Replaced batteries in 3 of the front garden lights (and one more 730am Tues. morning).  Spent time screwing with 'Local Handyman Pros' (out of Boston, MA?) and 'Home Advisor'. They want me to schedule an appointment before we agree on a price?  Opened a new eighth: L'Orange and added White Widow to shake. Watched 'TULSA' (Hoopla- I didn't realize that this was a Christian based production).  This might be the worst movie I've ever seen. Nothing about the story or the characters are even close to reality. There is no way that any state agency would hand over a kid to a guy like Tommy. And how could a nine year old who got hit by a bus and in intensive care be able to attend a Father/Daughter Dance? Shot in and around Augusta, GA. 10am called: Local guy at 217 553 5856 said $75 and he'll call back. Tiger Plumbing will come out tomorrow at 1pm for an estimate or ...
