We 6/29/22

We 6/29/22 720am (2). 940am (1). 1240pm (2). 655pm (1).  Up 530am: Sunny and a little warmer with temps to upper 80's. Watched 'PLANET TERROR' (Tubi-TV). I hadn't laughed that hard in ages and I was in stitches to the end of the film. One could say that it's about a one legged stripper who tries to become a standup comedian or it's a movie about zombies, mutants, explosive devices, and buckets of gore; Rose McGowan, Freddy Rodriguez, Josh Brolin, Marley Shelton, Jeff Fahey, and Bruce Willis.   Then I watched 'UNA' (Kanopy). I had seen it before but remembered none of the details- still a fine (if difficult) film.  When she was only thirteen she had a sexual encounter with a friend of her father and the film documents her confrontation with this man after a decade of wondering why he left. Deep and maybe just a bit overwrought, but some fine performances and I never knew where it was going; Rooney Mara, Ben Mendelsohn, and Rz Ahmed.   ***I had to clear...

Tu 6/28/22

Tu 6/28/22 715am (2). 850am (2 hits pre-roll). 1120am (1). 350pm (1). 640pm (1).  Up 530am: More sunny skies and temps to low 80's. Watched Netflix disc 'RESPECT'. I learned that I knew next to nothing about Aretha Franklin's personal life. Very surprised to learn that during the early 60's she had nine jazz albums on Columbia without a single hit. When she connects with Jerry Wexler (played beautifully by Marc Maron) he convinces her to use the studio musicians at Muscle Shoals and this was the first time that Aretha had the opportunity to produce and direct her own recording session. I didn't know that she had an overbearing father or a history of alcohol abuse, but this was almost too easy to accept; with Jennifer Hudson, Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Tituss Burgess (THE UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT), Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, and Mary J. Blige.   1055am: PC is 'Off' and preparing to walk downtown to mail the disc. 1125am: Out Governor, a little bit...

Mo 6/27/22

Mo 6/27/22 725am (2). 1235pm (1).  640pm (1).  Up 530am: Cool and mostly sunny with temps barely to 80. Watched 'SKIN' (Hoopla). A white Afrikaner couple gave birth to a black baby daughter and this was possible because black genetic material in their ancestry. The parents move heaven and earth to have her classified as 'white', but when she marries a black man they disown her; with Sophie Okonedo and Sam Neill. Even though they destroy their family, they sincerely believe that they only want what's best for their daughter. Based on a true,  yet tragic South African incident. Apartheid: Lasted from 1948 until 1994.    Sent the Weekly Wrap. Watched the first ten minutes of the next episode of 'UNABOMBER- In His Own Words' . His cabin was in Lincoln, Montana which is 77 miles east of Missoula, Montana and very remote. I'll finish this series tonight.  1115am: Preparing for a walk to Wash. Pk and then over to Brewer to pick up the gel-pen that I ord...

Su 6/26/22

Su 6/26/22 715am (2). 1230pm (1). 450pm (1). 7pm (1st Sativa).  Up 530am: Partly cloudy and much cooler with temps only to the upper 70's. Only a half inch of rain fell at Westview last night, yet still a very impressive storm.  Borrowed 2 titles from Hoopla: 'UPSIDE DOWN' and 'SKIN'. Watched 'UPSIDE DOWN' (Hoopla). A quaint and almost old fashioned love story about two lovers from different worlds- literally. In this fictional realm 'gravity meets itself' or where 'up meets down'.  Hard to explain and nearly impossible to convey in a film, but they made it work; with Jim Sturgess, Kirsten Dunst, and Timothy Spall.  I had seen this before and well worth a second look.  Then I watched 'ONE OF US' (Netflix). A profile of a few people living in Borough Park, Brooklyn, NY who want to leave the Hasidic community. "You are not the first person who felt that he knew more than the community, but we have stood the test of time and have b...

Sa 6/25/22- Mowed Lawn

Sa 6/25/22- Mowed lawn 725am (2). 950am (1). 1120am (1). 445pm (2 hits pre-roll). 705pm (1).  Up 530am: Mostly cloudy with temps to about 90 with a strong chance of rain early this evening. Watered the flowers along the front walk and wrote up 'STILL WATERS' by Tami Hoag for the blog.  ***Downloading a big 'Update' for the phone. I wonder what will change...and later;  nothing that I can tell and I was just happy to get the phone back without any negatives.  Watched 'HUSTLE' (Netflix). A scout for the Philadelphia 76'ers travels to Spain and discovers a 22 year old kid who plays the game on a completely different level. Although many NBA players were featured in the film, most of the basketball action was shot on city courts in front of an inner city audience. I liked this one a whole lot more than I thought I would; with Adam Sandler, Queen Latifah, Juancho Hernangomez (as Bo Cruz), and Ben Foster.  Finished 'WHO WE ARE: 'A Chronicle of Racism In Am...

Fr 6/24/22- County Market: $119/ Pot Shop: $113

Fr 6/24/22 625am (2). 855am (1). 11am (2 hits of pre-roll in the 1-hitter). 1215pm (1). 640pm (1).  Up 630am: More sun early and cloudy later with temps to about 90. 630am: To County Market/Fairhills. $119 and $40 cash; home and groceries put away by 715am.  Read 'VALIS' relaxing in the living room for a few minutes 745am: To Ascend and back by 815am. They said that the order had been cancelled and later that the name on my account was 'Tim'. And, holding the receipt in front of your face at checkout and asking if everything is correct was pure 'pot theater'; $113 for two 1/8th's  makes the hassle almost worth it.   8am-820am- Scheduled pickup at Ascend downtown. ***1035am: Fire truck, a CWLF pickup, and five guys to turn the fire hydrant on.  Watched 'THE MIST' (Netflix). A strange mist descends upon a town and it seems that passage to another reality has opened and the 'neighbors' are most unfriendly. From a novella by Stephen King and it ...

Th 6/23/22

Th 6/23/22 710am (4 hits pre-roll). 925am (1). 1115am (2). 235pm (3 hits pre-roll. 345pm (1).  730pm (1).  Up 520am: Lots of sun with temps to 90. Watched 'THE OTHER ME' (Hoopla- borrowed yesterday). A very confusing Art Film. Could the 'other' be his feminine side? What he sees is a life with 'him' as a woman? Why was it filmed in Tbilisi, Georgia? How this movie got 'greenlighted' might have made a better movie; with Jim Sturgess. David Lynch was the executive producer. YouTube Reviews were of no help. ***It's remarkable how much stronger one hit of Kush Cake is compared to the pre-rolled. I have to admit that I do feel the pre-roll, but it just seemed to be a mellow feeling (not bad at all),  but not the intensity of a 'high'.  Watched an hour YouTube video called '1959, THE YEAR THAT CHANGED JAZZ'. Highlights of the four most important albums of 1959 that still remain among the most influential albums of all time. 1) 'Kind Of...

We 6/22/22- 1st Pre-Roll

We 6/22/22- 1st Pre-Roll 7am (2). 915am (1). 1220pm (1).  640pm (3 hits pre-roll). 8pm (3 more hits pre-roll). Up 635am: Sunny with temps to about 90. I watered the flowers along the front walk and cut back some of the weeds. Picked 2 from Hoopla: 'A GOOD WOMAN', 'THE OTHER ME' Watched 'A GOOD WOMAN' (Hoopla). I didn't realize until the credits rolled that the film was based on a play by Oscar Wilde called 'Lady Windermere's Fan' and that explains the unbelievably clever dialogue; with Helen Hunt, Scarlett Johansson and Tom Wilkinson..."If you care so much about what other people say, why have your thoughts of your own?"..."I've found that the only way to keep your word is to never give it"..."Every man is born truthful, and every man dies a liar"..."Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future"..."Men don't trust women and women don't trust women. It's what binds the Hindu and...

Tu 6/21/22

Tu 6/21/22 715am (2). 10am (1). 345pm (1). 705pm (1).  Up 540am: Bright and sunny with temps to upper 90's. What's August going to be like? Watched 'SPIDERHEAD' (Netflix). A dark satire on mood altering drugs and pharmaceutical research. Prisoners opted to be part of a drug experiment examining  'human emotions' and learned that it might not be worth the perks. Filmed near Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia which is on the eastern coast and is 45 miles southeast of Brisbane; with Chris Hemsworth and Miles Teller.  940am: PC is 'Off' and preparing for a long walk before it gets too hot.  1010am:  To Wash. Mo 6/20/22- Early Walk to Heartland

Mo 6/20/22 625am (2). 830am (1). 1225pm (1). 720pn (1).  Up 530am: Another bright and sunny day and temps to low 90's. 630am-740am: I decided to walk to Heartland and deposit the nine dollar check from MetLife. A perfect summer morning and I listened to 'Tres Hombres' and 'Toys In The Attic'; An Hour and 20 Mins.  Watched 'SPENCER' (Kanopy). A fanciful look at Princess Diana's conflicted relationship with 'Them' (The Royals) at their family Christmas celebration at Sandringham Palace during the early 90's. Did she really have a non-sexual relationship with a lesbian servant? And, was any of the rest of it based on real evidence;  with Kristen Stewart, Sally Hawkins and Timothy Spall. Part of the film is set at Sandringham Palace- 110 miles north of London. "A fable from a true tragedy". Began 'BEST WISHES; WARMEST REGARDS: A Schitt's Creek Farewell' (Netflix).  A glowing tribute to a show that broke sexual and social bo...

Su 6/19/22

Su 6/19/22 705am (2). 935am (1). 1130am (2).  350pm (1). 645pm (1).  Up 520am: Bright and sunny with temps to upper 80's. ***Changed a light bulb in the fixture on the kitchen ceiling. The light over the sink is no longer dependable. Call the electrician for that light, the light in the bathroom, and the electrical outlet in the hall. ***Watered the flowers along the front walk. Watched Netflix disc 'GRAND ISLE'. Nicholas Cage and Kelsey Grammer garner a '29 Metascore' and according to VARIETY- "A sub-Tennessee Williams potboiler triangle between restless sexpot, impotent husband, and hunky handyman ever-so-slowly congeals into a lumpy gumbo of thriller elements in Grand Isle." Filmed on location in Jackson, Louisiana; Orwo Studios. Watched 'THE MARTHA MITCHELL EFFECT' (Netflix). I was unfamiliar with this footnote of history, but Martha Mitchell was an extreme critic of the Nixon administration even though her husband, John Mitchell was Nixon...

Sa 6/18/22- Mowed Lawn

Sa 6/18/22 650am (2). 1105am (2). 330pm (1). 7pm (1).  Up 520am: Bright and sunny with temps to low 80's. ***The plan is to watch a movie, mow the lawn, and then walk to Heartland Credit Union to deposit the checks from MetLife. Watched 'VICE' (Netflix). A clever and biting satire of Dick Cheney's unprecedented rise to power; with Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Steve Carell, Sam Rockwell, Eddie Marsan, Shea Whigham, and Tyler Perry. 35 wins and 139 nominations.  920am: The PC is 'Off' and preparing to mow the lawn. Then, Heartland and a long walk. Mowed:945am-1030am. 1110am: To Heartland- Lynnhaven, Golf, Greenbriar, HEARTLAND: $650 Deposit; Devonwood, Wood Mill, Old Jack's, Lynhaven, Westview, and down to 940...ALMOST TWO HOURS...Mp3...THE BLACK CROWES.  Reading 'Still Waters' 335pm:  TWO MILES AT 4.1 PACE AND 1.50 SLANT and more MEGHAN MURPHY on J.R.E.  450pm: in the tub with HOAG and listening to 'Mwandishi'- HERBIE HANCOCK, two hours of fusi...

Fr 6/17/22

Fr 6/17/22 720pm  (2). 855am (1). 1225pm (1). 655pm (1).  Up 6am: Violent storms rolled through the area beginning about 4am and 3/4 of an inch fell according to the rain gauge. Rain ending later this morning but temps only to upper 80's.  Watched 'HUMBOLDT COUNTY' (Hoopla). A medical student with an overbearing father finds himself in the 'cannabis country' of Humboldt, California and makes some major life changes; with Jeremy Strong, Fairuza Balk, Peter Bogdanovich, Brad Dourif, and Chris Messina. The film is more than a little overwrought, but still worth a look. Filmed near Eureka, California. Began the first episode of 'INTIMACY' (Netflix). Filmed in Bilbao, Spain- capital of 'Basque Country. Gave up on this one later. 11am: PC is 'Off' and will read for a while and the plan is to hit Planet Fitness later this afternoon.  Read TAMI HOAG  1230pm:  To Planet Fitness. 45"Cross. 45"Treadmill.  30"Bike.  30"Treadmill.  30...

Th 6/16/22- Early Walk 640am(2). 920am (1). 1220pm (1). 350pm  (1). 650pm (1).  Up 530am: Hazy and partly sunny with temps to upper 90's. 640am: Parkview, Wash. Pk southside, Bates, Outer Park, Lincoln, Leland, Walnut, Wash. Pk northside, up the hill, Parkview, Fairway, and up to 940...Mp3...'On The Corner'- MILES DAVIS; 'Smokin''- HUMBLE PIE.  Watched 'YOUR SON' (Netflix). A Spanish surgeon investigates the savage beating of his son. The story hinges on two phone videos; the first records the beating of his son and the second shows his son raping his girlfriend. The rape was the reason for the assault? The father deletes the video and the message is that he would do anything for his son?  An Art Film with a questionable moral point of view and that makes it a cut above the usual 'Revenge' genre film. I liked the darkness and ambiguity.  1210pm: PC is 'Off' and preparing for more miles on the treadmill.   1220pm:FIVE MILES AT 4.1 PACE AN...

We 6/15/22

We 6/15/22 730am (1). 1030am (1). 1215pm (1). 650pm (2).  Up 530am: Another scorcher with temps to the upper 90's and an 'Excessive Heat Warning' is in effect until 8pm this evening. Watched 'DARKEST HOUR' (Netflix).  "People that never change their minds never change anything". "Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts." The film serves as a reminder that it is history's winners who write the history books and had a world war been avoided through Chamberlin's negotiation strategy,  millions of lives might have been saved and Churchill might be remembered as a war mongering idiot;  with Gary Oldman, Lily James, Kristin Scott Thomas, Ben Mendelsohn, and David Strathairn (as the voice of President Roosevelt)... "How do you manage drinking during the day"?..."Practice".  I called Green Hyundai and I'm still not sure if the facility near the mall is still there, but I was t...

Tu 6/14/22- HEAT!!!/Early Walk to Library/Buddy Sick

Tu 6/14/22-  HEAT!!!/Early Walk To Library 635am (2). 920am (1). 345pm (1). 645pm (1).  Up 530am: A high of 98 degrees with an Excessive Heat Warning until 8pm Wednesday. "Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 112." ***Just as I was leaving, Buddy threw up breakfast. He seemed OK and a bit anxious about whether he would be alright for a couple of hours. He was.  645am: Walk to the library to return 'THE TERMINAL LIST' by Jack Carr. Out Governor and back Edwards...Almost 2 Hours...Mp3...Live CLIFFORD BROWN; Live GRATEFUL DEAD-'72 Germany.  Watched 'THE HURT LOCKER' (Netflix). A profile of the bomb techs of Delta Company in Iraq, 2004. A surprising lack of bloodshed but the tension was off the charts; with Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty, Guy Pearce, Ralph Fiennes, and David Morse. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow. I had seen this before but a '95 Metascore' makes it easily worth another look.  92 degrees at 1220pm and ...

Mo 6/13/22

Mo 6/13/22 720am (2). 345pm (1). 655pm (1).  Up 530am: The heat wave has arrived! Temps predicted to the mid 90's through the end of the week. At 3pm the temperature was 91 and the 'feels like' was 101. Tomorrow is expected to beat the record high for the date.  Watched 'IT'S ALL GONE PETE TONG' (Tubi). A mockumentary about a wasted, internationally famous DJ who becomes totally deaf and is then celebrated as a 'Handicap Hero'. In poor taste and insulting, but parts are very funny. Filmed in Ibiza, Balearic Islands, Spain. Paid the card and I had trouble getting into the Heartland account. I had to call the credit union to reset the password. Not a big deal. I checked Ameriprise and was expecting worse news than what I found. I'm still down by $700,000 but I actually made a little money since I last posted a total three weeks ago.  Wrote The Wrap and sent it off. 1030am: PC is 'Off' and will do the treadmill. Su 6/12/22

Su 6/12/22 715am (1). 1240pm (2). 720pm (1).   Up 530am: Partly cloudy but rain has been deleted from the forecast. Temps to the upper 80's today and climbing to the upper 90's through Thursday. ***Between 930am and 1030am a severe thunderstorm warning was issued. The sky was black and the radar map was red. 950am a huge downpour and Westview was flooded... "Two inch hail and 60 mph wind gusts". And although no hail but one inch of rain did fall during  that hour according to my rain gauge.  Wrote 'THE TERMINAL LIST' by Jack Carr for the blog. Watched Netflix disc 'THE RHYTHM SECTION'. A young woman turns to heroin after her family is killed in a terrorist plane bombing. She kicks the habit and learns the trade of espionage from an ex-MI6 agent and then gets revenge for the murder of her family; with Blake Lively, Jude Law, and Sterling K.  Sa 6/11/22- Library Book Sale/ Buried Cable 725am (1). 1005am (1). 11am (1). 140pm (1). 355pm (1). 710pm (1). Up 530am: Partly sunny with temps to mid 80's. A brutal heatwave is on the way and by Wednesday the temperature could reach 100 degrees! Wrote up 'LILY WHITE' by Susan Issacs for the blog. Watched 'POLAR' (Netflix). Based on a 'graphic novel' and chock full of cartoonish bloodshed. An assassin for hire is ending his career but his employer puts a hit out on him so that he can renege on pension benefits. An odd premise for such a violent mess; with Mads Mikkelsen and some other people. '19 METASCORE' but I think the critics were trying to take it far more seriously than was intended. The end credits roll from bottom-to-top instead of top-to-bottom and this seemed more jarring to me than the whole movie. Watched more of 'TWO SUMMERS' (Netflix).  1030am: i3 Broadband said we're here to bury you! The Internet will be off for ten minu...

Fr 6/10/22- Buddy Sick/County Market; $120/Mowed lawn 645am (1). 815am (1). 350pm (1). 705pm (1).  Up 530am: Occasional rain to continue through this afternoon with temps to the low 70's. Once again the weather report was mostly in error. I was able to mow the lawn and it never rained.  ***Buddy was sick last night around 3am this morning. He wouldn't touch the 9 Lives this morning and threw up what he ate of the dry food after I left for County Market. We are on an 'Amber Medical Alert'. 650am: To County Market- $120; and back by 730am. Watched 'OPERATION MINCEMEAT' (Netflix). The Allies were planning to take back Sicily from the Germans in 1943. They develop a plan to convince the Germans that they are invading Greece instead of Sicily. They drop a body off the coast of Spain and this corpse has a briefcase containing fraudulent information about a fake attack on Greece. Th 6/9/22- 1st Momentary Internet Loss

Th 6/9/22 750am (1). 1025am (1). 1155am (1). 355pm  (1). 705pm (1).  ***Just before 10am the internet shut down momentarily and I was within five minutes to the end of 'BULL'. I turned the router power switch 'off/ on' and the internet reappeared but I had to enter the 'security number' which is the password; "Oh, ya don't' and '...is the loneliest number'. Up 630am: Slept late but it felt good. Thanks, Buddy. Partly sunny with temps to about 80. I booted up the PC as soon as I got up so that I could borrow 'BULL' on Hoopla before the library exceeded their limit. Watched 'BULL' (Hoopla). Kent, Dartford A brutal and innovative Gangster/Revenge film shot in Dartford, Ken, UK- 20 miles southeast of Central London. Bull seeks revenge on his wife's criminal family and all he wanted was to take care of his son. Very violent and low key. The final reveal that he actually was a spirit from Hell was completely over the top. I rea...

We 6/8/22- Changed Data Plan

We 6/8/22- Changed Data Plan 735am (1). 9am (1). 1210pm (2). 655pm (1).  Up 8am: A rainy day with temps to mid 70's. By late morning they pulled the rain prediction and just a cloudy day with maybe a passing shower.  Watched 'MINAMATA' (Hoopla- I tried to borrow 'BULL' but right at 7am 'the library had exceeded the limit'). An alcoholic ex-Life magazine photographer is given a second chance and he travels to a small village in rural Japan. The coastal area has been polluted with mercury by a local chemical factory and W. Gene Smith (the photographer) documents the devastating effects on the local population. Not a bad film yet hardly memorable and Johnny Depp's performance makes it worth a bit of a look.  1020am: PC is 'Off' early today so that I can read the Jack Carr novel. I'd like to finish it so that I can bring it back on Saturday at the book sale. The plan is to hit Planet Fitness early this afternoon. ***Just as I was shutting down I...

Tu 6/7/22

Tu 6/7/22 715am (2). 955am (1). 1215pm (1). 310pm (1). 7pm (1).  Up 545am: Partly cloudy with temps to about 80. Watched Netflix disc 'THE CURRENT WAR'. A history of the intellectual battle and personal feud between Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse during their race to bring light and power to the world. I guess Edison wins, but the biggest take-away is that the film effectively dramatizes the shock of what it must have been like to go from no electricity to electric lights and power, 24/7; with Benedict Cumberbatch (Edison), Michael Shannon (Westinghouse), and Nicholas Hoult (Tesla).  Although I also agree with this review at Observer (UK): " It all seems a little too eager to distract from the fact that top-hatted, frock-coated, mutton-chopped chaps burbling on about the relative advantages of the alternating current versus direct current system does not, in fact, make for electrifying drama." Watched 'METAL LORDS' (Netflix). An interesting 'coming...

No rain whatsoever, I don't even think that it rained early this morning before sunrise. Temps to low 70's. Watched more of 'GOOD MORNING, VERONICA' (Netflix). I finished episode #8, the final installment. This could have been so much better but still worth a look. I supposed there's enough of a hook to make another season. The heroine could tackle the problem of  'the syndicate' within the national police.  I had planned to hit the treadmill, but they've pulled the rain from the forecast so it's out on the streets with Amazon Music Unlimited.   105pm: Walk to Heartland...Up to Lynnhaven, Durkin, Lawrence across Vets, Rickard, across Old...

Su 6/5/22 720am (2). 945am (1). 1240pm (1). 650pm (1).  ***Check data use email. It's yellow starred in the inbox Up 530am: Partly sunny with temps to mid 80's. Rain predicted for tonight and tomorrow. Watched 'THE BOSS: Anatomy of a Crime' (Netflix). An illiterate married man from rural Argentina takes a job in a city butcher shop and he and his wife become literal slaves to the owner. One day he snaps and stabs his boss to death and the film documents the events that led to the murder. Based on an actual incident. It reminded me of Upton Sinclair's novel 'THE JUNGLE' because it also was about the gross inequality within an economic system but better known for the exposure of the horrid sanitation policies of the meat industry. This Argentinian film really makes you want to renounce meat and take up a vegetarian diet. 14 wins & 14 nominations.  Watched the final episode of 'THE MINIONS OF MIDAS' (Netflix). It's never revealed exactly who ...

Sa 6/4/22 730am (2). 1125am (2). 340pm (1). 7pm (1).  Up 530am: Mostly sunny with temps to low 80's. Last night my allergies were raging and this is the worst episode that I can remember. I thought that I would lose Peacock-TV but it's still connected. I watched 'BRAZIL' (Peacock-TV). A wild and wacky trip through a disturbing dystopian vision. It earned every award it got and this is a definite Film Classic. The costumes and set designs were out of this world; with Jonathan Pryce, Kim Greist, Robert De Niro, Ian Holm, Bob Hoskins, Michael Palin, Ian Richardson, and Jim Broadbent. Screenplay and direction by Terry Gilliam.  '84 Metascore' and nominated for 2 Oscars: 8 wins & 5 nominations. ***Around 930am I noticed that Bob from across the street is doing yard work on the abandoned house next door. Fr 6/3/22- 1st Walk Listening to Amazon Unlimited Music

Fr 6/3/22 725am (2). 1055am (2). 645pm (2). 835pm (1).  Up 535am: Bright and sunny with temps to low 80's. Watched 'ICHI THE KILLER' (Kanopy). Will the picture quality be better due to the faster router/modem? The picture hung-up one time and I cleared the browsing data and everything was fine. It is odd that any problem always begins about the one hour mark. I wonder if this is significant. Takashi Miike's transgressive and groundbreaking classic in a digitally restored special edition. From the film's page at Kanopy: " This visceral, bloody, and often hilarious film follows Kakihara (Tadanobu Asano), a notoriously sadistic yakuza enforcer whose search for his boss’ killer brings him into the orbit of a demented costumed assassin known as Ichi." The story was more than a little confusing, but the narrative is not even tangential to the total experience and the costumes were bizarre and hilarious. 1030pm: The PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk a...

Th 6/2/22- i3 Broadband Installation Today!/ Trimmed Beard 725am(2). 720pm-735pm (2).   Up 540am: Partly sunny with temps to upper 70's. Watched 'THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM' (Peacock-TV). For a bit more clarity I probably should have seen this one before 'THE BOURNE LEGACY' but the storyline is supposed to be somewhat muddled because Bourne and all of the other assets in the Blackbriar and Treadstone programs are confused about their origins and identities; with Matt Damon, Joan Allen, Julia Stiles, David Strathairn, Scott Glenn, Paddy Considine, and Albert Finney. This is probably my last movie on Peacock Premium... Good riddance.  945am: PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk on the treadmill. I want to get in the mileage before the visit from i3 Broadband at 1pm.   10am: FIVE MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND 1.5 SLANT and more of 'THE MINIONS OF MIDAS' (Netflix). Trimmed my beard and took a couple of photos to document the longest beard of my life (so far). 12pm-24...

We 6/1/22

We 6/1/22 745am (2). 1050am (1). 1215pm (1). 650pm (1).  Up 630am: Heavy storms very early this morning and an inch is already in the rain gauge. Rain is in the forecast for this morning and this afternoon and temps only to mid 70's. I wanted to watch 'OUT OF SIGHT' with George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez but it is no longer on Peacock. It was there last night but I found it on Amazon Prime so I'll see it later. Watched 'THE BOURNE LEGACY' (Peacock-TV). The film deals with a government recall of the secret black-ops programs of Treadstone, Blackbriar and Silverlake. The object was to turn recruits into nearly superhuman assassins but there seems to have been a change in protocol. You don't fully understand what's going on until the middle of the film but not much is lost. There's a great parkour sequence in the alleyways of Manila followed by a wicked motorcycle chase. A star-studded cast; Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Scott Glenn, Stac...

Tu 5/31/22

Tu 5/31/22 805am (2). 1225pm (1).445pm (1). 705pm (1).  Cloudy and breezy with temps to upper 80's. ***My allergies are really bothering me today and I'm doubling up on the ancient nasal decongestants. 735am: Called Brewer to order the gel-pen.  After I finish the Morning Movie the plan is to bike to Brewer for the pen and then walk downtown for the taxes, mail the MetLife forms, and pick up the Jack Carr novel at the library. Until Thursday I plan to watch anything of interest on Peacock. I watched 'YOU WON'T BE ALONE' (Peacock-TV). A very strange Art Film about 'witches/vampires/shape-shifters' and their relationship to the peasant women of the 19th Serbian hill country. The language of the film is Macedonian it was shot near Pirot, Serbia. 11am: PC is 'Off' and will call Brewer and bike to the vet to get the gel-pen. Then home to walk downtown for the taxes, post office, and library. (I walked first and got the gel-pen later). 1130pm: Out Governo...
