We 10/31/18- HALLOWEEN

We 10/31/18- HALLOWEEN Up 630am; rain last night, and cloudy today- fifties. Watched Netflix disc, 'YOU CAN COUNT ON ME' Laura Linney and Mark Ruffalo star as an ill matched brother and sister. He's shiftless and adrift, and she's hyper-responsible, a loan office at the local bank and desperately trying to be a good mother to her eight year old son. Set in upstate New York and by the same director as 'MANCHESTER BY THE SEA'. Bluetooth ear buds gave out last night. Will not link with the phone. Will stop at Walmart on the way to FitClub South later. Another episode of 'BODYGUARD'. Buddy is maybe exhibiting signs of a urinary infection. I'll keep a closer eye on him- squatting in the kitchen sink is the tip off. The plan is to leave for FitClub South late this afternoon so that I will be out the entire time during 4-8pm(Treat or Treat hours). 1240pm reading, and hit the road just after 3pm. Dropped the disc at the box near Fairway/ Monro...

Tu 10/30/18

Tu 10/30/18 Up 715am; mostly sunny and breezy with rain predicted for tonight- temp almost to 70. Wrote a short email to Cindy thanking her for the pix and CD. Watched Netflix disc, 'WETLANDS'. Possibly the grossest film I've ever seen, but kind of sweet nonetheless. Helen goes to the hospital for treatment of an anal fissure and celebrates her wildest and most transgressive sexual fantasies. As Shock Fiction, this film leaves 'SHAKES THE CLOWN' in the dust. Then watched, 'SKELETON KEY' (Amazon Prime) Kate Hudson is a care-giver and her assignment is an old plantation house in rural Louisiana. Gena Rowland's husband (John Hurt), is a stroke victim, but actually the couple are the 'reincarnation' of Hoodoo practitioners from the 1920's; "It can only hurt you if you believe". Not bad, and I watched it because it is no longer available for streaming on Nov. 1st... I wonder how these decisions are made? Reading 110pm, and fini...

Mo 10/29/18

Mo 10/29/18 Up 620am; another bright and sunny day in the fifties to low sixties, and the wind is no longer howling. Watched 'BEIRUT' (Amazon Prime); Jon Hamm/ Rosamund Pike. In 1972 an American diplomat's wife is murdered and the thirteen year old boy that they have sponsored is kidnapped by terrorists. Ten years later the diplomat is an alcoholic union negotiator in Boston, and American intelligence desperately need him to return to Beirut to negotiate a deal. The thirteen year old has become a terrorist and has kidnapped the diplomat's friend. The kid that he sponsored and now a terrorist will trade this man for his older brother who is an international terrorist and captured by the PLO. An intelligent movie that's really about 'the art of the deal'. Watched the first episode of 'BODYGUARD' (Netflix); I listened to a review on Fresh Air this morning. This looks like it's going to be good, but must use the sub-titles because the accents a...

Su 10/28/18

Su 10/28/18 Up 615am; clouds early, then sunshine, very breezy, and fifties. Wrote a long email to Steve about 'Honey', 'Chrome Library Extension', and various film and episodic TV faves. Watched 'THE KINDERGARTEN TEACHER' (Netflix). Maggie Gyllenhaal becomes obsessed with her five year old pupil- she thinks that he is 'the Mozart of poets'. You feel that something is going to go wrong from the first moment of the film; A real spellbinder in an odd way. Finished the long email to Steve and reading by 115pm. Called Elsie's about 230pm and talked to Lannie for a bit. His doctor's visit went well and he's healing nicely. Will go back tomorrow for a checkup with the doctor. 3pm stopped for Urinary Cat Food at Dollar Store. It was closed for no apparent reason, and down to Ace, but they didn't have the 'urinary' stuff. Buddy was squatting in the kitchen sink as if trying to piss, and there looked like a couple of spots of b...

Sa 10/27/18

Sa 10/27/18 Up 6am; another partly cloudy day in the fifties. Listened to Terry Gross- 'FRESH AIR' about a new biography of Lou Reed. Watched 'THE CELL' (Amazon Prime) Swap minds with a serial killer as seen by an amazing director of music videos. Striking visual images; Jennifer Lopez/ Vince Vaughn/ Vincent D'Onofrio. 10AM- Reading 'THE FORGOTTEN' and listened to more of the 1974 Dead concert at Cow Palace/ BEASTER- Bob Mould. 130m drove to FedEx Copy...ran into Steve and talked for awhile; will email him Chrome Library Extention, Honey, and My Fave Movies. I told him that Becky knew him and he said, 'she's very intelligent'. Then to the 'Y'. 45" Walk (THE DESIGNATED SURVIVOR). 45" Recumbent Bike (read THE FORGOTTEN/ listened to PIL (Amazon Music). 45" Cross (SURVIVOR). 45" Bike (read- 2 episodes of THE DESIGNATED SURVIVOR today). 30" Bike (IN TREATMENT). Home to soak and listen to early Jeff Beck wit...

Fr 10/26/18

Fr 10/26/18 Up 710am; Showers on and off thru the late morning and early afternoon; to high 40's. Wrote up 'THE CROCODILE BIRD' for the blog. Watched 'IT FOLLOWS' on Netflix, and it's just as good as I remembered. This is one of my most favorite horror/ thriller films. 1115am- downstairs to see if I can get the DVD player to work. I got it back in about ten minutes, but once again, I really have no idea what I did. However, at 'the setup' on the TV, I need to be at 'HDMI2'- this is the root of the problem, but I don't know why, or how, or what the fuck. Then watched 'CARNAGE' (Amazon Prime); Kate Winslet/ Christopher Waltz/ Jodie Foster/ John C. Reilly. A delightful contemporary comedy of manners set in Brooklyn. Their sons' have been in an altercation and one of the boys lost two teeth- what's the politically correct course of action in this situation? Checked 'My Spending Acct' and it looks like I really ...

Th 10/25/18- Downstair DVD Player Not Functioning

Th 10/25/18 Up 650am; cloudy and fifties- rain predicted for tonight. Watched Netflix disc, 'WHY HIM?'. James Franco is a multimillionaire in the tech field and wants to marry Bryan Cranston's Midwestern daughter; (executive producers)- Ben Stiller/ Jonah Hill- vulgar and hilarious. Messed around with the Your Spending Acct; called dentist and learned that the debit on the credit card bill will take a few days to process. Watched another 'LOCKUP RAW'- 'No Boys Allowed'. 1230pm; reading/ and finished 'THE CROCODILE BIRD'- a very clever and unexpected ending. 230pm- Planet Fitness/ Wabash PO. When I arrived at PF they said that they were having plumbing problems (signs all over- "Don't Flush"; got it taken care of within the first part of my workout). 45" Walk (HUMANS- last episode of season one). 45" Recumbent Bike (began the Baldacci novel/ listened to the guy from 'Rank & File'; Amazon Music). 45" ...

We 10/24/18- Dental Checkup (1st time at new office)/ Book Club Tonight

We 10/24/18- Dental Checkup (1st time at new office)/ Book Club Tonight Up 615am; another sunny day in the fifties. Watched 'THE ASSIGNMENT' (Amazon Prime). Macho hit-man, Frank Kitchen (Michelle Rodriguez plays 'Frank' both as man and woman) is kidnapped and forced to undergo a gender reassignment by evil plastic surgeon, Dr. Rachel Jane (played by Sigourney Weaver). The doctor performs the gender switch on Frank because he carried out a hit on her brother. Standard 'hard guy' action and dialog, but the premise is positively WTF, and that makes it 'worth a look'. 940am- cramming for tonight's meeting. Will leave for the new dentist's office about 1030am for the 11am appointment. Arrived at the new office by 1050am and was in to see the technician in just a few minutes. Talked about the 'blood blisters' from last time and due to a small sore on the left side of tongue I thought that they were back- they weren't. Charged too muc...

Tu 10/23/18

Tu 10/23/18 Up 615am; another bright and sunny day to the high fifties. Watched Netflix disc, 'KNIFE IN THE WATER'. Roman Polanski's debut from 1962. A couple picks up a hitchhiker and they all go for a 24 hour sailboat ride on a Polish lake. The young man falls overboard, the couple can't find him, the older man swims to shore to alert the authorities. In the meantime, the young man swims back to the boat- he had been hiding behind a buoy- has sex with the girl, and they sail back to the starting point. He leaves along the shoreline before they dock, and then the older man meets the girl. She tells him what happened, admits to cheating, but he doesn't seem to believe her about whether the young man is dead or alive or any of her version of the events. The film ends as he stops the car in front of the sign pointing to the police station. Then, 'I AM INNOCENT'(Netflix) A New Zealand science teacher is charged with indecent assault when I young girl says...

Mo 1/22/18

Mo 1/22/18 Up 620am; 40's early and windy, yet almost to 70 with plenty of sunshine. Wrote up 'THE ROUND HOUSE' for the blog. Finished Steve Tyler on Joe Rogan and began an interview with Eddie Van Halen, and another with Roseanne Barr with Rogan. Watched 'SUBURBICON' (Amazon Prime). A Cohen Bros. film directed by George Clooney; Matt Damon/ Julianne Moore. To pay off a huge debt to the mob, a man kills his wife for the insurance money and then takes up with her twin sister. Everything that can go wrong, does go wrong, and the man's young son is the only witness to the crimes. And, the residents of Suburbicon try to rid the community of a black family. The film tries to cover too much moral and social ground, and therefore comes across as a bit too thin. Then the last forty minutes of 'QUINCY' that I began last night. He DOES NOT! sound like your 'crazy uncle'. He comes across as an intellectual, yet feisty. Then, "DERREN BROWN: SA...

Su 10/21/18

Su 10/21/18 Up 6am; Below freezing early, sunny and to mid fifties later. Copied 'THE CHEESE STANDS ALONE' and transferred to Dropbox. Watched Netflix disc, 'THE STRANGE COLOR OF YOUR BODY'S TEARS'. A Parisian businessman returns to his lavish, Art Deco/ Moroccan apartment and finds that his wife is not there. Was she murdered? Did she leave him? Is he dreaming or insane? A fine example of a film where 'style' completely overwhelms 'substance'. It's a wild ride, but what really happened? Sorted the laundry from last night, and emptied the cat box. Then 'OUT OF THIN AIR' (Netflix). During the mid 70's in Iceland a group of teens are convicted of two murders. This documentary is a cautionary tale as to how a police department, even acting with the best of intentions, can force innocent people into making false admissions of guilt. Most people probably believe that an innocent person would never admit to a crime that they did n...

Sa 10/20/18

Sa 10/20/18 Up 630am; cloudy early, then bright and sunny, but very windy- 50's. Watched Netflix disc, 'RUBBER'. A free-wheeling, homicidal automobile tire vibrates and heads explode, and later it transforms into a tricycle and leads an army of tires into Hollywood, California for a 'Rubber Apocalypse'- Violently Ironic. Then, 'DYNAMITER' (Amazon Prime) Set in small-town, Glen Allan, Mississippi the film is about Robbie, a fifteen year old boy who is the reluctant head of the house. He does his best to care for his 8 year old half brother and elderly grandmother and must contend with the complete absence of credible adult supervision or any support whatsoever. The title illustrates his emotional plight- he's a keg of dynamite and the fuse is lit. Extremely well-done.   1230pm- reading 'THE ROUND HOUSE' and Planet Fitness later. 215pm- on the road to Planet Fitness/ Wabash PO. 45" Walk (LIVE CREAM- Amazon Music). 45" Recumbent ...

Fr 10/19/18

Fr 10/19/18 Up 6am, but reading 'THE ROUND HOUSE' since 5am. Cloudy with a chance of rain this afternoon- 50's. Watched 'PRIMARY' (Amazon Prime) A smart, low-budget film shot in Vancouver, British Columbia about a young insurance executive who rejects middle class morality and adopts a more Nietzschean outlook- 'Only the strong survive'. The plot is convoluted and examines failed love relationships, phony insurance claims, the redistribution of wealth, and murder. Then, 'HEARTTHROB' (Netflix) Keir Gilchrist plays a guy who's just graduated from high school, and during the summer before MIT, he meets the girl of his dreams; murder, mayhem, and suicide follow- A truly odd stalker film, and Aubrey Peeples was fantastic as the object of his affections. 1115am- reading 'THE ROUND HOUSE' on the couch, and LA Fitness later. 210pm- on the road to LA Fitness. 45" Cross ( the last 2 episodes of Season 4- RAY DONOVAN). 45" Recumbe...

Th 10/18/18

Th 10/18/18 Up 630am, but reading 'THE STONE THAT NEVER CAME DOWN' on the phone 430am. Frost early, sunny and to 60 later. Added some more material- movies/ TV- to Amazon Prime. Watched 'HARRY BROWN' (Michael Caine/ Emily Mortimer)- Amazon Prime. Michael Caine plays a single, old man living on a council estate sixty miles northeast of London. Teenage gangs control the housing complex, and when his only friend is killed by punks, he takes revenge. Similar to almost anything done by Charles Bronson thirty years ago. Not bad. Then, episode #1 of 'THE ROMANOFFS' (Amazon Prime). A very stylish and sweet tale of an exquisite apartment in Paris. The matriarch lives there and her nephew and his girlfriend hope to inherit- but a beautiful Muslim caregiver changes everything. Can't wait for the next in the series. They're all independent story-lines, and the only connection is that some of the characters are related to The Romanoffs (last Russian Royal Fam...

We 10/17/18

We 10/17/18 30's early, sunny to upper 50's later. Awake about 520am, and out of bed in an hour. Read 'THE CROCODILE BIRD' and played around with the phone. Reading about the brouhaha about YouTube being down last night. Wrote up 'THE CAMEL CLUB' for the blog. '22 JULY' (Netflix). On July 22, 2011 there was a terrorist attack in Oslo, Norway. A neo-nazi exploded a van near parliament, then drove to a student summer camp where he hunted down, shot and murdered dozens of children; 77 died. The attack is covered within the first half hour of the film, then it deals with the emotional toll of the survivors and the nation's focus on the trial. A well-written and compelling drama. Watched the last hour of the Stevie Ray Vaughn bio that I began last night; 'STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN- 1984-1990; LONESTAR'. 130pm to credit union to deposit the ten dollar check I got from taking an Internet survey, then on to the 'Y'. I ordered 90 Equate...

Tu 10/16/18

Tu 10/16/18 Up 515am; Bright and cold- first frost of the season. 30's early, later to upper 50's. Watched Netflix disc, 'Bicycling with Moliere'. Two French actors rehearse Moliere's 'The Misanthrope' at the Isle de Re on the western coast of France. The actors' antagonistic relationship mirrors the theme of this 17th century 'comedy of manners'. Then a forty-five minute documentary on Amazon Prime called, 'BODY SNATCHERS OF NEW YORK'. A dead human body is worth $200,000 to the tissue and organ industry, and this is the story of a licensed medical doctor who forged consent forms to make millions, and was exposed and prosecuted. Then the last half of 'UPSIDE DOWN- THE CREATION RECORDS STORY (Amazon Prime); while watching the film I was able to add a lot of music to my Amazon Music account. 1130am- out on the front lawn to trim the lilies and remove the flowers in the planters. Only took 20" and the front lawn looks good...

Mo 10/15/18

Mo 10/15/18 Up 610am; some light rain last night, and today only to the upper forties; high 30's early- Frost warnings for tonight. Transferred all of last week's journal entries to 'The Cheese stands Alone'. I don't know why I didn't do this on the road. Watched Netflix disc, 'THE CIRCLE' Emma Watson stars as a young woman who lands the job of a lifetime. She becomes part of the biggest technological companies on the planet- bigger than Google and Apple combined, but she becomes disconcerted with the issue of Privacy vs. Transparency. Since I haven't seen any of the Harry Potter series, I only knew of Watson from 'THE BLING RING'. Tom Hanks was perfect as the messianic CEO of The Circle Corporation. Wrote the Chat Wrap and sent a long of time on the Bonus Features. Watched a 'STRUGGLE FOR JUSTICE' (Prime Time). A French-Canadian spends over nine years in prison for a murder that he didn't commit. 130pm dropped the dis...

Su 10/14/18

Su 10/14/18 God it's great to be home! Last night after the bath and 'Camel Club' I stayed upstairs so that I could reacquaint myself with 'the street'. I didn't finish the Travolta film (not that good)- I'll re-finish it after this morning's film, and I woke up in the chair about midnight. Today, up at 5am and it was in the mid 40's, and only to the upper fifties later this afternoon. Shaved beard- I went to use the trimmer, but the 'comb' wasn't on the device, so the trimmer removed a large section of beard. I could have gone with a mustache or sideburns, but decided to make a clean break. Watched Netflix disc, 'SOLACE'. Smart and well-written Police/ Serial Killer/ Thriller. Two FBI agents need help on a serial killer case, and they ask a retired and reclusive psychic who had a history with the agency. The kicker is that the killer is also a psychic and possibly has a higher ability than the FBI's man. Anth...

Sa 10/13/18- The Last Day

Sa 10/13/18- The Last Day The phone alarm was set for 4am, but I got up at 3am. I was very concerned about finding the car rental return, and I opened the chromebook to re-study the map. I had about a half cup of coffee from the room coffee maker, and I checked ou at 350am. As I was walking to the car, it started to sprinkle. Some rain on the drive to Sky Harbor, but nothing to speak of. No traffic, and I drove directly to the car rental return without any incidents. 402am out of the parking lot at Alaska USA. Stay on Rt. 17, and be sure to get off at Exit 195 A. This is 16th St, and take a left at the light. A couple of lights, and then a right on Buckeye, then another right on Sky Harbor. The brown 'Car Rental Returns' were very helpful, but when I got to the parking garage that had 'Fox' it was not too well marked. The signs (there are a half dozen car rental places in this area) are small and not too well placed. When I finally found 'Fox Returns' ...

Fr 10/12/18- Day Four

Fr 10/12/18 Up at 6am to the phone alarm- a pleasant ringtone! Lots of clouds and we might have gotten an early morning sprinkle. But by early afternoon it turned pleasant and sunny- only to 81. Down to the breakfast buffet by 630am- scrambled eggs/ english muffin/ a sausage/ and half a banana. Over to Elsie's House about fifteen minutes early; 745am. Nancy, Lucy, and Lannie were preparing pancakes for the residents. He had just taken a shower and he looked 'movie star handsome'. At 816am I put in a call to Southwest and I got my boarding pass. I'm in 'Group B'; not bad because I should be able to have no problem getting my backpack in the overhead, and I should have my choice of seats- Up Front. I stayed at Elsie's until just after 10am. And, on the machines at LA Fitness by 1030am. 45"Cross (Listened to Physical Graffiti- Led Zeppelin on Hoopla for most of the workout). 45 " Walk (Led Zep). 45" Recumbent Bike (read more of The Camel...

Th 10/11/18- Day Three

Th 10/11/18- Day Three Up and out of bed by 6am and the phone alarm was set for 615am. A At the breakfast buffet by 645am; scrambled eggs/ 2 sausages/ english muffin/ slab of pastry. Back to the room with a sketchy Internet connection, but it does work, but ya gotta keep at it. And, more news on CNN about the devastation in Florida. At Elsie's House at 810am. and I met Nancy, the house manager. I watched them eat  breakfast, chatted, and I left for LA Fitness about 945am and was on the machines by 10am. 30" Cross (Arctic Monkeys).  30" Walk (The Melvins). 30" Bike (In Treatment). 30" Cross (Allman Bros. Fillmore). 30" Recumbent Bike (TV- CNN). 30" Cross (Happyish). 10" Steam/ lap in the poDol/ whirlpool/ another 5" in the steam room/ another lap. Drove west on Bell to Deseret; 6825 West Bell; a little hard to find, but worth it. I got a six dollar pair of jeans. And back to Paradise Lane about 310pm- in time to see Lucy before she e...

We 10/10/18- Day Two

We 10/10/18 I had the alarm set for 616am, but I got up at six; felt well rested and rarin' to go. Problems with the Tech Sector at the hotel. Not even the television was working- and the Internet  was messed up. When I went downstairs for the breakfast buffet I heard a woman complaining about this. Glad to hear that it wasn't just me or my equipment. I had a plate of scrambled eggs, a sausage, and a slab of pastry; back in the room before seven am, so the plan is to stop by Paradise and maybe catch Lannie. She's supposed to be at the house from 7am-9am. I plan to arrive just after 8am. I arrived at Paradise just after 8am and Lannie was giving him a shave. He was in much better spirits, but still a handful. Within an hour Lannie realised that her cell phone was kaput, and she needed to meet her tax guy at 10am, but first she needed to pick up her car, and she didn't have a ride. So I took her to Desert Wind Car Repair to pick up the old (ancient) Taurus that sa...

Tu 10/9/18- Day One: (Phoenix Trip)

Tu 10/9/18 Both the the alarm clock and the phone alarm worked perfectly, and I was up at 530am. Actually I had been tossing and turning since about 3am- Rough night. Only left a couple of windows open, and only a crack. 80's in Springfield today, but on Wednesday- Fall Arrives, temps in the fifties and sixties for the foreseeable future. The immediate drive out of town was pleasant-  A nice drive by the dawn's early light. When I took the turn off at Exit 8, I was completely lost. It looked nothing like the map or the directions. Asked a road worker, and he got me back on Rt 170/70 and said I should get off at Natural Bridge Rd. Asked at a gas station, and I had just gone the wrong way. This is the smart route- a little out of the way, but your not going in circles in the middle of nowhere. Get off at Natural Bridge, and then come back. I didn't even lose a half hour, but it seemed like it took months off my life. 920am at the hotel  van in the long term van parki...

Mo 10/8/19- Another Power Outage!

Mo 10/8/19- Another Power Outage! Up 730am; sunny, breezy, to mid 80's. Half-assed packing, then watched Netflix Original, 'PRIVATE LIFE', Paul Giamatti/ Kathryn Hahn. Childless NYC middle-aged couple desperately try to have a child 'by any means necessary'; Tamara Jenkins directs; 'THE SAVAGES'/ 'THE SLUMS OF BEVERLY HILLS'. Power Out 1035am- 1135am. On the bright side, I think I'm all packed and ready to go...."Please Mr. Custer- I don't wanna go...." Wrote a long email to Janny and then watched the last 40" of the film. 2pm drove to the 'Y'....The day got away from me or the dread overtook me. 45" Walk (Reality TV all workout). 45" Recumbent Bike. 45" Cross. 45" Bike. 30" Cross. Home to soak/ read Baldacci on the phone,  and listen to one of Lachel's Live Stones. After the concert it sounded like a Dough Sahm record (Sir Douglas?). Can't wait to hear Side A, that's the ...

Su 10/7/18-WHITE ELEPHANT/ WHITE BEAR

Su 10/7/18 Up 730am; cloudy and cool; rain to begin this afternoon- 60's to upper 70's. Watched Netflix disc, 'WHITE ELEPHANT' Set in the slums of Buenos Aires, Argentina two priests try to make a difference, but feuds between the political establishment, the church, drug lords, gangs, and local contractors make their task nearly impossible. Very good. Then, my favorite episode of 'BLACK MIRROR' called 'WHITE BEAR'. Young woman awakes and doesn't know who she is or why people are videotaping her. She meets some strange companions who also seem to be on the run and they convince her to destroy a radio transmitter- White Bear- to 'stop the signals'. It's really all an illusion, and she's actually on a television program originating at 'White Bear Justice Park'. She and her boyfriend kidnapped a little girl, murdered her, and burned the body- he did the killing while she filmed it on her phone. This 'Reality Show' i...

Sa 10/6/18

Sa 10/6/18 Up 730am; overcast and clammy; rain to begin early this afternoon- 80's. Wrote up 'STONE COLD'- David Baldacci for the blog. Listened to an excellent live concert on YouTube- Delaney & Bonnie & Friends (George Harrison/ Eric Clapton/ Rita Coolidge); 12/10/1969, Copenhagen. Most of the musicians will become 'Derek and the Dominos' on down the line. Watched Netflix disc, 'SILENT HILL'. The film was made in 2006 and I'm surprised that this is the first time I've seen it. Based on a video game, and the film must be considered a 'cult classic'. A woman takes her daughter to the abandoned town of Silent Hill, West Virginia because the girl is experiencing nightmares and waking dreams about 'Silent Hill'. The town was on the site of underground coalmine fire and many people of the town lost their lives. Mother and daughter become separated and mom encounters demons, ghouls, a witch burning cult, and the most realisti...

Fr 10/5/18

Fr 10/5/18 Up 730am; cloudy and rain predicted for most of the day. To 80, but feels cooler. Rain passed us by, but cloudy all day. Wrote up 'THE YEAR OF THE FLOOD' for the blog and I also made a post at GoodReads. Watched 'LOGAN LUCKY' (Amazon Prime) I watched this last year, but hope it's worth another look. Most definitely worth another look! Very clever heist movie by some 'Hee-Haw Heroes'; dir. Steven Soderbergh ('UNSANE'). Started an Amazon Prime bio-doc of Marc Bolan, but will save this for 'Evening Viewing', and began a new Amazon Prime series called, 'SCAMMED'. Screwed around with Coventry insurance trying to find if I'm covered and at what facilities in Phoenix. Finally learned that the website only covers carriers in Illinois. Emergency visits or Urgent Care is covered out of state. 230pm on the bike to LA Fitness. 45" Walk (MANIAC). 45" Recumbent Bike (Finished 'STONE COLD'/ 'Electric...

Th 10/4/18

Th 10/4/18 Up 815am; breezy and much cooler. Temps only to mid to upper sixties all day. Rain in the forecast for the next week with cooler temps- Fall has arrived? I went downstairs to see the Update Situation and the PC turned on normally, but a message said that a longer 're-start' was required and this took about 30". It seems that '1809' successfully installed (the screen invited me to 'tour my new features', you know, the ones that I didn't ask for or have no reason to use)- 'Patch Tuesday' at its' worst. Watched 'THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS' (Amazon Prime)- Glenn Close; Another variation on 'The UnDead Film Genre' only the shambling, vacant-eyed cannibals are called “hungries,” and their infection seems to be fungal rather than viral. In the beginning of the film 'young hungries' are in a military compound and you don't really know what's going on until quite a ways into the film. Worth a look. ...

We 10/3/18

We 10/3/18 Up 730am; Warmer and more humid; windy and temps to 90. Might meet or beat a Heat Record. Watched 'BACKSTABBING FOR BEGINNERS' (Amazon Prime) Ben Kingsley plays one of the top UN officials responsible for 'The Oil For Food Program'. During the sanctions against Iraq this UN directive allowed Iraqi oil to be sold and the money used for the people of Iraq. However, the program was riddled with corruption and the story is about a young whistleblower who decides that pragmatism and moral relativity are not the same. Very interesting. 1145am walked to Supercuts to get a shoulder length cut. Then on to Dollar Store at Fairhills for a car mount for the phone. Will use the phone to try out the GPS systems of Waze and Google Maps. Already liking Google Maps because Waze says I should walk down the street to Westview and Fairway, and obviously it's quicker to walk up the street to Kenyon. At the haircut the young girl was familiar with both programs even tho...

Tu 10/2/18

Tu 10/2/18 Up 730am; partly cloudy, to 80 and breezy. Watched French Netflix disc, 'PARIS-MANHATTAN'. Young Parisian pharmacist is obsessed with Woody Allen and her family tries to find her the perfect guy. She falls for an alarm salesman. Woody Allen speaks in the film- from a poster on her bedroom wall- and then appears in the end of the film. Alice Taglioni was beautiful, and perfect for the part. Watched a fourteen minute 'Short' in the bonus features about a statue of Woody Allen that was commissioned in the city of Konigsberg (Kaliningrad), Russia. 'Konigsberg' is Allen's real last name. Then, another episode of Netflix series, 'I AM INNOCENT'. John Saunders is accused with his mother and father, of being involved in satanic sexual activity involving his sister. None of it happened. 'Recovered Memory' was a therapeutic treatment developed in the 80's and 90's that helped create, 'The Satanic Panic' social uproar. A...

Mo 10/1/18
