Su 6/30/19

Su 6/30/19 Up 7am; it's hot already, and temps to break the low 90's with lots of sun. Watched Netflix disc, 'UNDER THE SILVER LAKE'...  "An intoxicating freaked out parody of the self-involved lunacy of L.A". Thirty-three year old Silver Lake slacker/ stoner investigates the disappearance of a girl that he had just met at his apartment complex. He gets caught up in a maze of weird and obsessive conspiracy theories and occult madness; from the director of 'IT FOLLOWS'- David Robert Mitchell. And, a fantastic 'musical neo-noir' soundtrack. The music reminded me of 'the best' of Bernard Hermann. AC blasting and PC 'Off' by 1215pm. Will read and bike to Wabash PO and Planet Fitness later. Far too sweltering to mow the lawn, and I want to postpone this until 'the rain' begins later in the week.  And...too hot to bike to Planet Fitness. On the machines at 3pm. 45" Walk (THE ALCASSER MURDERS). 45" Recumbent B...

Sa 6/29/19

Sa 6/29/19 Up 7am; sunny with temps to 90. Blast furnace heat by 1230pm. Watched 'LOVING VINCENT' (Hoopla) An entire 'Painted' movie utilizing the visual style of Vincent Van Gogh. Was it suicide or was he shot? I wonder if modern forensics could settle the 'angle of the bullet' theory? Could the bullet being deflected by bones account for the angle? One of Vincent's antagonists claimed on his death bed that Vincent stole the gun from him and then used it to kill himself. But, why would he shoot himself in the stomach? Watched 'THE BIG TAKE' (Amazon Prime) A surprisingly well-done Neo Noir- A washed-up Hollywood star is blackmailed after being drugged and then raped (or something?) by a transgender person. The blackmail plot spins out of control, and several people die. Robert Forster is the only real star of the movie, and he's not a major character in this very dry and witty crime caper film. Just surfing the net in the blast furnace he...

Fr 6/28/19

Fr 6/28/19 Up 645am; sunny with temps to 90. Out of the blue, storms in the late afternoon and temps dropped to the 70's. It was only supposed to be a 10 percent chance of rain today.... Go Figure.... Wrote up 'NO MIDDLE NAME' by Lee Child (a collection of novellas and short stories) for the blog. Watched 'MEN OF RESPECT' (Amazon Prime) A mob picture based on Shakespeare's 'Macbeth'. A bit ham-fisted and over-blown; John Turturro/ Rod Steiger/ Stanley Tucci/ Dennis Farina/ Peter Boyle/ Katherine Borowitz (she is Turturro's wife in real life)..."No man of woman born". Then, 'OFF THE RECORD' (Amazon Prime) Filmed in Austin Texas and almost a promotional movie for Thrill Quill Studio. His mother dies and Johnny Coyle tries to jump start his faded musical career, but mayhem ensues. 1245pm: PC 'Off'; Reading 'MISEDUCATION'. The plan was to bike to fitclub west later, but a particularly violent storm band crossed...

Th 6/27/19

Th 6/27/19 Up 7am; sunny skies- to 90. Put the AC on for the first time yesterday, but temps dropped when I got home from the meeting and I opened the windows. Connected Dropbox to living room PC. Watched 'DONNIE BRASCO' (Amazon Prime) Al Pacino/ Johnny Depp/ Michael Madsen   Pacino has done thirty years as a hit-man for a NYC mob family and he's got nothing to show for it. Depp works undercover for the FBI and the old hit-man shows him the ropes, and in the end, this kindness costs him his life. It's kind of an 'overlooked' film classic- focuses on mid to low level racketeers scuffling to get by. Then another 'SNEAKY PETE' (Amazon Prime) Only two episodes left, and there will not be a fourth season. Watched a YouTube interview with Fran Lebowitz. 1220pm: PC 'Off' reading the Jack Reacher novellas. Will bike to the 'Y' later. On the macines at the 'Y' by 3pm. I forgot the regular ear buds so watched the last two epis...

We 6/26/19

We 6/26/19 Up 7am; mostly sunny- to 90. Last night I emailed Acculevel for an estimate, and they called at 745am and I made an appointment for Monday, 7/1 at 1pm. Watched Netflix disc, 'GRETA' Isabelle Huppert/ Chloe Moretz/ Maika Monroe  Psychopathic stalker is undone by two female NYC roommates. She only wanted somebody to love. Not bad. Made some notes on 'ELEANOR OLIPHANT IS PERFECTLY FINE'. Decided that the notes on wikipedia about the novel are so comprehensive that I won't have to skim the remaining half of the book. Watched the next 'SNEAKY PETE' (Amazon Prime) Noon: PC 'Off' skimming parts of 'Oliphant' and will hit FitClub West later. Then to the meeting at six. 145pm on the machines at FitClub West. 45" Octane (FAT BOY SLIM). 45" Walk (Reality TV All Workout). 45" Cross. 30" Walk. 15" Recumbent Bike. 30"Old Style Cross. Whirlpool/ pool. Big turnout and all of the members liked 'Olip...

Tu 6/25/19

Tu 6/25/19- Back Downstairs! Up 6am; sunny to mid 80's. Wrote up 'CHEESE STANDS ALONE' from yesterday. Made note of Johnson's condition. Watched Netflix disc, 'THE HATE U GIVE' Teenage Black girl lives in two worlds- 'Home' in 'The Hood', and 'School' in a predominantly White private school. 'The Talk'- when parents tell their children how to act when stopped by police. 'Code Switching'- how to navigate 'The White World' while maintaining some sense of racial identity. This is an excellent and thought provoking film that addresses many socially relevant issues with intelligence. Then watched two episodes of 'SNEAKY PETE' (Amazon). The location sets in California are fantastic. 1230pm: PC 'Off'; reading 'OLYPHANT and finished the book! To Wabash PO/ Planet Fitness 240pm. 45" Walk (DARK). 45" Recumbent Bike (Read 'OLYPHANT'). 45" Cross (DARK). 30" Walk (ENTOURA...

Mo 6/24/19

Mo 6/24/19- Johnson's Condition Up 640am; overcast and a shower later this morning; upper 70's. Watched .'THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNETS NEST' (Hoopla)  A terrific end to the trilogy. Lizbeth is given back her rights and cleared of all wrong doing; "Seeya around"- "You Bet". Called Republic and got a referral to HABITAT FOR HUMANITY. Made an appointment for Wednesday, July 3rd between 3pm and 5pm. Called Angie Fenner and made an appointment for June 16th, Tuesday, at 330pm. Wrote the Weekly Wrap. And, one and a half episodes of 'SNEAKY PETE' (Amazon). 230pm: On the bike to the 'Y', and on the machines by 3pm. 45" Walk (Reality TV All Workout). 45" Recumbent Bike. 45" Cross. 30" Walk. 30" Cross. Home with more 'Eleanor' and in the tub with DEER TICK/ PIXIES. Upstairs for tonight's feature and I got an email from Cindy about Dave Johnson: "Johnson is in hospital and transfer...

Su 6/23/19

Su 6/23/19 Up 720am; humid and rain to begin late morning and continue all day. A half an inch of rain is expected with temps to upper 70's. I set up two fans in the 'wet area' and I'm hoping that the ground has dried enough to soak up the additional rainfall and I won't get any seepage. Watched 'THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE' (Hoopla) Noomi Rapace as Lizbeth Salander; Two crime researchers and Lizbeth's 'state handler' are murdered just before a Swedish international prostitution ring is exposed and prominent citizens are implicated. Lizbeth's father is an ex- GRU agent given asylum in Sweden and her half brother is a 'blonde tank' (has a genetic disorder that blocks his pain receptors). I can't wait to see the final film of the trilogy. Spent an inordinate amount of time filling out a survey about the Elantra. Watched 'UNLOCKED' (Netflix) Another superior film with Noomi Rapace. She's a disgraced US agent (...

Sa 6/22/19- WATER DOWNSTAIRS!!!

Sa 6/22/19- WATER DOWNSTAIRS!!! Up 6am; Awoke around 2AM to a torrential downpour that lasted almost an hour, and 1"-2" of rain. Today a 40% chance of storms later this afternoon- 70's. Went directly downstairs and sucked up about a half 'barrel' of water. I'll go down in a couple of hours to see if it has stopped or continued to seep. The water is coming up from the slab in the center of the room. Also, water in the 'lamp area' and behind the couch. Not as bad as other incidents, but rain is in the forecast for the next three days. Watched 'BEATS' (Netflix) August Monroe had his sister gunned down right in front of him on the mean streets of South Chicago (near Washington Park), and he now suffers from PTSD and stays isolated in his mother's apartment. A school guard/ ex-producer discovers August's producing skills and offers him hope. Certain areas in this country are actual war zones, and the film addresses this point, but no...

Fr 6/21/19

Fr 6/21/19 Up 6am; partly sunny with showers predicted for later this afternoon and tonight; 70's. By mid morning they add a Flood Watch. Watched 'THE BOX' (Netflix) Cameron Diaz/ Frank Langella/ Gillian Jacobs as 'the babysitter'. Based on a Richard Matheson short story, 'Button, Button'. A couple is given a box and inside is a button. When the button is depressed, someone that they don't know dies, but they get a million dollars in cash; An intelligent psychological thriller. 1015am: PC 'Off' to mow the lawn. More heavy rain to begin early this afternoon. Hope dry conditions prevail downstairs....I'm so sick of this! Spent about an hour on the lawn, and it looks great! More and more yellow flowers are busting out front and back. I finished about an hour before an intense and fierce storm rolled in. Just south of Springfield they were expecting hail and sixty mile an hour winds with heavy, heavy rain. I dodged another bullet, and eve...

Th 6/20/19

Th 6/20/19 Up 6am; cloudy to sunny, and much cooler; low 60's early, and to mid 70's. NO WATER DOWNSTAIRS; relieved, yet surprised because some of the storms were as fierce as I've seen. Watched 'COP CAR' (Netflix) Two young boys find an abandoned cop car, steal it, and get caught up in a deadly adventure; with Kevin Bacon/ Shea Whigham/ and with Kyra Sedgwick as the voice of the dispatcher. Then, the last 25" of last night's documentary 'ABDUCTED IN PLAIN SIGHT' from the book 'STOLEN INNOCENCE'. Then, 'THE SUMMER OF 03' (Netflix) Grandma makes a deathbed confession that sends a family reeling. "You're going to heaven because I had you secretly baptized and kept it from your Jew mother". And, "The most important thing for you to learn is how to give a really good blowjob". A provocative 'coming of age' saga, and Joey King was fantastic. 1220pm: PC 'Off' and reading 'OLIPHANT...

We 6/19/19

We 6/19/19 Up 630am; rain beginning about 9am, and continues from early afternoon through the night. One to two inches and flash floods predicted.... Anxiety about the downstairs area- low 70's. Watched 'THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO' (Hoopla- they have the whole trilogy to stream; otherwise, only available on disc)  Lisbeth Salander teams up with a disgraced investigator/ reporter to find the whereabouts of a young girl who has been missing for over forty years. A serial killer and his insane son are revealed, but they aren't responsible for the missing girl. She's been living in Australia. I'll watch the next installment of the trilogy with my next Hoopla pick. Then the first episode of 'SNEAKY PETE'- Season II 1240pm: PC 'Off' and reading 'ELEANOR OLIPHANT IS COMPLETELY FINE' on OVERDRIVE. 240pm in the Elantra to the 'Y'. 45" Walk (Reality TV All Workout). 45" Recumbent Bike. 45" Cross. 30" Walk. ...

Tu 6/18/19

Tu 6/18/19 Up 7am; cloudy to partly sunny- to 80. Watched Netflix disc, 'OF FATHERS AND SONS'  A Syrian man living in Berlin returns to his village that is in the control of radical jihadists. He becomes friends with a man and his family. Dad is an ardent believer in 'the cause', loses most of his lower left leg to a mine, and sends his sons to 'jihadist school' where innocent boys become militarized; Numerous international film awards, and a  harrowing eye opener of a film! Then 'LONDON TOWN' (Netflix) A surprisingly well-done rock'n'roll film featuring the music of 'THE CLASH'. Jonathan Rhys Meyers stars as Joe Strummer who befriends a young boy whose mother has taken off to live in a London squat and his father is incapacitated in an accident. The boy learns to drive his dad's cab to make money and changes the family's piano store into a rock guitar and drums retail shop. The plot was more than a little far fetched, but t...

Mo 6/17/19

Mo 6/17/19 Up 7am: Cloudy and cool- to mid 70's. Wrote up 'LOOKING FOR ALASKA' for the blog. Checked out HOOPLA and noticed 'HER SMELL'. Elizabeth Moss was electrifying as Rock Diva, Becky Something, as she freaks out, flames out, and comes to terms. It's clear that it was not only drugs and booze that caused her plunge into the abyss because she was always a fragile and damaged individual and even after her quasi-redemption, her essence remains the same. I loved it, but most definitely not for the faint of heart. Then some YouTube videos concerning 'HER SMELL'. The director, Alex Ross Perry, mentions that the genesis of the film concerns the twenty-fifth year reunion of the band 'GUNS & ROSES'. He examines the effect of Axl Rose's various addictions and mental instability on his band mates, and what if this had occurred in an all girl group? That is the essence of 'HER SMELL'. Wrote the Weekly Wrap, and PC 'off...

Su 6/16/19

Su 6/16/19 Up 640am; some rain very early this morning, but we didn't get the deluge that was predicted. Partly sunny and sticky today; to mid 80's. Watched 'RIGHTEOUS KILL' (Netflix) Robert De Niro/ Al Pacino/ 50 Cent/ Brian Dennehy  A lame Cop Thriller with De Niro and Pacino (Turk and Rooster) as detective partners. The set-up is that the De Niro character has gone rogue and has been cleansing the NYC streets of 'human scum' for a decade and a half. But, it's only ham-fisted mis-direction in the script- Pacino's character is the 'Avenging Angel'. Whatta Waste Of Talent!! Then 'MURDER MYSTERY' (Netflix) Adam Sandler/ Jennifer Aniston  A light spoof on the Agatha Christie Genre, and mildly amusing, but more than I expected. A husband and wife take a European honeymoon on their fifteenth anniversary and wind up on a billionaire's yacht and become entangled in an inheritance swindle involving a triple murder. 1215pm: PC 'Of...

Sa 6/15/19

Sa 6/15/19 Up 720am; heavy rain right as I awoke. The area could get almost two inches today and rain in the forecast for the next several days; to low 70's. By late afternoon it was warm and not a cloud in the sky....Maybe we've dodged the bullet. Paid the cards, and then watched Netflix disc, 'BLIND SPOTTING'. I watched this a while back on Xfinity, but it's well worth a second look. And, the VLC Player worked flawlessly! It's really hard to believe that this is the work of a 'first time' director. Lottsa Big Concepts- Racism, Gentrification, Gun Violence, Incarceration, The role of Police in the Community, and even, Fan Loyalty. The title refers to the 'Vase/ Face' Optical Illusion. You might be conditioned to see one thing, but you might just be missing something just as relevant. Watched 'SEVEN' (IMDB FreeDive) Over two hours, over twenty years old, and still a classic. On his last week on the job as a police detective, Morgan...

Fr 6/14/19

Fr 6/14/19 Up 530am; partly sunny, pleasant, and temps slightly warmer than yesterday- mid 70's with rain in the forecast for the next several days beginning early this evening. Watched 'AMERICAN RENEGADE' (Amazon Prime)  Almost the same premise as Donald E. Westlake's, 'DROWNED HOPES'. During WWII Nazis hid two tons of gold bars stolen from the French in a Slovakian village. Partisans exploded a dam and flooded the village, and the gold was forgotten till the middle of the Bosnian conflict in the 1990's. A group of Navy Seals conspires with a local girl to get the gold. Essentially just a 'B-Movie', and the only redeeming features are the performances of J.K. Simmons and Ewen Bremner ('Spuds' from TRAINSPOTTING). Re-watched the last part of 'FEAR, LOVE, AND AGORAPHOBIA' from last night. This was a very fine Independent. A homeless female Marine is married to a man sentenced to life and she becomes roommates with a man suffering...

Th 6/13/19- 2pm appointment 800 N. 1st.- UROLOGY

Th 6/13/19- 2pm appointment 800 N. 1st.- UROLOGY Up 545am; sunny, breezy, and cool- only to just above 70. Wrote up 'PLAYING FOR PIZZA'- John Grisham for the blog. Watched 'THE SENTENCE' (Xfinity) This one I had seen before, but well worth a second look. Cindy Shank receives a fifteen year sentence on a conspiracy charge. The fact that she had knowledge of her boyfriend's drug operation, and since she didn't notify authorities, she was charged for all of his offenses. And, the state did not bring charges against her until six years after both state and federal authorities had already agreed to drop all charges against her. The documentary shows how this ridiculously draconian sentence destroyed her family, and especially how it traumatized her three young daughters. Mandatory sentencing benefits no one but the prison industrial complex!! Then I watched three episodes of 'SNEAKY PETE'. I thought that this is the end of the series, but there are fo...

We 6/12/19

We 6/12/19- VCL PROBLEM WAS SOFTWARE!! Up 620am; cool, cloudy, rain predicted for this afternoon- only to low 70's. Watched Netflix disc downstairs, 'THE OLD MAN AND THE GUN' Kind of a tame, yet well done film about Forest Tucker- master thief and even a better escape artist. Robert Redford/ Sissy Spacek/ Danny Glover/ Tom Waits/ Ben Afleck. 845am: back upstairs, and.....HALLELUJAH!!!!! I ran the update for the VCL Player and now it works!!!! I am so happy. Watched 'ROLLING THUNDER REVUE: A BOB DYLAN STORY BY MARTIN SCORSESE' (Netflix) Watched about half of this over two hour film. Then, 'PARKED' A homeless man lives in his car in a parking lot by the sea in Dublin, Ireland. He meets a young man who is also living out of his car, and the two form an unlikely kinship; Not bad for a small film. 115pm: PC is 'off', will read for a while, then off to the Wabash PO and Planet Fitness. 3pm on the machines at Planet Fitness. 45" Walk (UN...

Tu 6/11/19

Tu 6/11/19 Up 530am; sunny and temps to low 80's. Watched '1/1' (Amazon Prime) An artistic take on a 20 year old girl from Greensburg, PA who has a pregnancy scare. As her history unfolds, we learn that her father had committed suicide. An interesting soundtrack really added to the overall 'feel' of the film, and the sets and artwork suggest a collage or a poem rather than cinema. Listened to a Youtube interview with the director and Lindsey Shaw, the lead actress of '1/1'. Odd that they would not divulge the meaning of the title. Then 'ADAM RESURRECTED' (Amazon Prime) Jeff Goldblum/ Willem Dafoe...."Adam, we learn through many flashbacks, was a famed magician/entertainer in Berlin before World War II. Because he is Jewish it is not difficult to see that this will probably not turn into a joyous storyline. At one of his shows, a gentleman named Klein (Willem Dafoe) is selected from the audience to participate in the act. The man is very ...

Mo 6/10/19

Mo 6/10/19 Up 530am; cool and breezy, temps only to upper 70's. Wrote up 'WAYFARING STRANGER'- James Lee Burke for the blog. Watched 'BENEATH THE LEAVES' (Netflix) A 'B-Movie' about a killer who escapes from prison and continues with a 'torture/ kidnapping' agenda from thirty years before. Mira Sorvino plays one of the detectives on the case, and Paul Sorvino plays the police chief; shot in Julian, CA. Then watched 'I AM MOTHER' (Netflix) A maternal robot is raising a human 'daughter' in a fortified bunker containing thousands of human embryos. Things seem fine until Hilary Swank demands entrance. She's wounded and claims that the androids have destroyed the world...."Your mother is the enemy of all human kind". What happens it is open to conjecture, but maybe 'daughter' will raise the embryos to become a new and better kind of human race. Then wrote the 'Weekly Wrap'. 1230pm: reading and 130pm...

Su 6/9/19

Su 6/9/19 Up 640am; partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers later this afternoon- to low 80's. Watched 'WELCOME TO THE RIPLEY'S' (Amazon Prime) Kristen Stewart/ James Gandolfini/ Melissa Leo  After their fifteen year old daughter is killed in a car accident, The Ripley's marriage has stagnated and hit a dead end. Doug Riley's mistress dies unexpectedly,  and he feels that he must make a dramatic change in his life. He travels to New Orleans for a plumbing convention, and meets a young stripper that reminds him of his dead daughter. He gives fatherhood another shot when he moves in with the girl, and they establish a kind of 'father daughter' relationship. Kind of a flimsy plot, yet the performances save the day. Then, the second episode of three in the new season of 'BLACK MIRROR' (Netflix). A cab driver takes an intern hostage from an English company similar to Facebook. He wants to tell the owner and founder of the company that he...

Sa 6/8/19- TLC Player Out on PC

Sa 6/8/19 Up 5am; looks like another beautiful sunny summer day, but clouds move in by late afternoon, and a little cooler than yesterday- upper 70's. TROUBLE WITH DVD PLAYER- LIVING ROOM PC I tried to get 'VOX LUX' Netflix disc to play on the VLC Player and it was all distorted. Reinstalled another player, and it wouldn't work. Uninstalled VLC and reinstalled- still No Go. 645am- watching downstairs with no problem. Optical Card gave out? Watched this very different film downstairs. The first section of the movie sets up the story line. A young high school student is badly wounded in a school shooting. She writes a song that expresses her feelings about the attack and it becomes a hit. Then the film shifts seventeen years into the future. She's an unhinged and very neurotic super-star with a teenage daughter of her own, and she becomes linked to another terrorist/ shooting event. The film is wildly unpredictable, and really doesn't have much of a plot, ...

Sa 6/7/19- Library Book Sale

Sa 6/7/19- Library Book Sale Up 520am; partly sunny- 80's. Watched 'THE UNPERFECT CRIME' (Amazon Prime) In October of 1997 David Ghantt is working for Loomis Fargo in Charlotte, NC, and initiates a heist that robs his employer of seventeen million dollars in twenties and fifties. An interesting expose about how this gang of misfits pulled it off, and then lost it all. Then, the next episode of 'SNEAKY PETE' (Amazon Prime) The episode is set in Rosedale, NY- home of Spiritualism; Lily Dale/ Cassadaga Lake. 10am: mow the lawn then a bike ride to the library book sale. Three pushes on the bulb, and the motor kicks! The lawn done in under an hour (with raking). Home to check out the books and drink. About 3pm in the car to Fairhills. Got the gas can filled;...

Th 6/6/19

Th 6/6/19 Up 620am; humid, partly sunny- mid 80's. Watched 'ADAPTATION' (Xfinity) Meryl Streep/ Nicholas Cage/ Chris Cooper/ screen play by Charlie Kaufman. How do you make a movie about flowers? Wild and woolly tale by the same guy that brought us, 'BEING JOHN MALKOVICH'. ******About halfway through the film, the screen went crazy, and the PC shutdown. Restarted and no problems. Could have been any number of things, but just hope that it never happens again. I called Dax and spoke to Emily about my recent umbrella policy purchase. She said that although Ameriprise does sell umbrella policies, their prices are not competitive. So, the State Farm deal stands. I wrote Janny a note alerting her to the library book sale tomorrow and Saturday. And I also told her of the umbrella policy and to pass along my thanks to Joe. Watched two episodes of 'SNEAKY PETE' (Amazon Prime). 130pm: biked to FitClub West 45" Octane ('CHAPTER AND VERSE'-...

We 6/5/19

We 6/5/19 Up 530am; sticky, with temps to 90 and a fifty-fifty chance of rain this afternoon- and for the next several days. Watched an Italian film, 'GUN CITY' (Netflix) An excellent drama about class warfare and corruption in the early 1920's in Barcelona, Spain. Anarchists steal army weaponry and use them against the police and company owners to to enforce Leftist demands. Later it's revealed that the governor and his men stole the guns dressed as anarchists. He wanted to ramp up the violence so that popular opinion would demand military intervention. Although not in the movie, one can surmise that this kind of political and social unrest paved the way for Fascism. Then watched, 'LIMITLESS' (Netflix) Bradley Cooper/ Robert De Niro  An 'Airport or Beach' type of concept with a dynamite sound track and a hyperbolic and frenetic cinematic quality. "NZT is a mysterious drug that enhances human memory and intelligence, while acting as a nearly...

Tu 6/4/19

Tu 6/4/19 Up 550am; cloudy with showers and storms predicted for late this afternoon. But, by early afternoon it was breezy and partly sunny- low 80's. Wrote up 'CATCH ME'- Lisa Gardner for the blog. Downloaded 'MALWAREBYTES' on the living room PC Watched 'LIFECHANGER' (Netflix) A very fine low budget Indie about a 'shape-shifter'. In order to live, he must kill, and then inhabit another person. All of their thoughts, memories, personality, and life force is absorbed..."This is not my first time as a dentist"; shot in Toronto, CA. Then watched 'STORIES WE TELL' (Amazon Prime) "In 2007, Sarah Polley discovered that her father, Michael Polley, who had raised her, was not her biological father. The story of her mother's affair and her biological father Harry Gulkin, producer of the film Lies My Father Told Me, was chronicled in Polley's film Stories We Tell". A truly great biography about how an incident ha...

Mo 6/3/19- Paid Taxes!

Mo 6/3/19- Paid Taxes! Up 540am; sunny to about 80. After today, rain is in the forecast every day for the next week or so. Watched 'ALL THE WAY' (Xfinity) Bryan Cranston is LBJ, and he was also the executive producer of the film. Demonstrates how LBJ was able to ram through Civil Rights legislation in spite of the fact that the south were Democrats, and hated his agenda; 2 hrs and 15" with Melissa Leo as Lady Bird. Wrote an email to Janny. She told me that I should be getting a check from the estate or that it would be directly deposited into the trust. I'm not sure and I'm not sure that they know. Got a call from UROLOGY at 800 N. 1st that it's time for my six month PSA checkup. I didn't know that I was down for that. It seems like when I was working I saw the doctor once or twice a decade and now I'm a regular. The season opener of 'SNEAKY PETE' Season II. 1pm: Biked to County Building to pay the taxes, then back to FitClub West. ...

Su 6/2/19- NAVIGATING AMAZON MUSIC AND THE PC

Su 6/2/19- NAVIGATING AMAZON MUSIC AND THE PC Up 6am; partly cloudy, to sunny and beautiful by late afternoon- to mid 70's. A bit of a hassle getting the new speaker bar to work. When I turned it on, no sound. Then, I got sound, but it was playing through the Bob Dylan album that I was playing through the phone on the Bose app. Finally, I got it to play the PC. Banging on buttons, and it clicks. I hate this! I still don't know what I did or how. I tried to put Dropbox on the PC and learned that I would have to pay because I was using too many devices. I took a shot at Google One Drive, and everything is there! So, this is where I'll keep future episodes of 'THE CHEESE STANDS ALONE'. Watched Netflix disc, 'CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME?' An off-beat 'Buddy Movie' about a frustrated and forgotten author who finds that if no one will publish her work, then she will create fictitious letters from famous dead people and sell them to dealers as rare arti...

Sa 6/1/19- Sundown One Sound bar 12pm.

Sa 6/1/19- Sundown One Sound bar 12pm. Up 6am; partly sunny, chance of rain this afternoon, and temps to the mid 80's. Watched 'BLACK RAIN' (Amazon Prime) Michael Douglas and Andy Garcia are two NYC detectives. A Japanese Yakuza mobster brutally kills a man in a crowded NY restaurant. He's apprehended and the two cops must escort him back to Japan. After landing in Japan, they mistakenly surrender their prisoner to his confederates who were dressed as policemen. Mikey and Andy must recapture their man in a hostile and foreign land; Ridley Scott directs and leans heavily on fog and neon, and the film is more or less a valentine to the late 80's. Spent some time acclimating to the new TV remote. Watched some YouTube videos, but really not that much help. The salesman and the Polish installer from Sundown One arrived right on the dot of noon. It took about an hour, but things are up and running and I just love the sound! It's worth every penny. However, I d...
