Mo 5/30/22- Buddy Sick/Memorial Day

Mo 5/30/22- Buddy Sick/Memorial Day 835am (2). 1150am (1). 205pm (1). 710pm (1).   Buddy threw up just outside the bedroom door about 5am. I cleaned it up and then slept until 615am. He needs a new gel-pen and I will ask the vet about whether he should come in for a checkup. ***1045am: He's kept down his food/ 2 platefuls and seems his normal self, but I will mention it to the vet tomorrow.    Partly sunny, breezy with temps to the upper 80's. I had planned to walk downtown to mail the letters back to MetLife about the checks that were not cashed, pay the real estate taxes at the county building, and stop at the library to pick up 'THE TERMINAL LIST' by Jack Carr, but I realized that everything will be closed for Memorial Day. PLAN # 2- Get the new router/modem from Best Buy and pick up the gel-pen. However, it looks like Brewer is closed for the day. If I had realized that Monday was a holiday I would have picked up the pen on Friday. Router shopping today and...

Su 5/29/22

Su 5/29/22 705am (2). 910am (1). 1240pm (2). 725pm (2).  Up 540am: Partly cloudy and windy with temps to mid 80's. Watched 'BENEATH THE LEAVES' (Hoopla- my last pick of the month). Another solid 'B-Movie' that begins with a prison break. One of the the escaped inmates had kidnapped and tortured four foster children many years ago and it seems that he's back to kill them all. It reminded me of the novels of James Paterson or David Baldacci; with Mira Sorvino and Paul Sorvino.  Filmed near Julian, California; approx. 60 miles northeast of San Diego. Then more of 'WRONG SIDE OF THE TRACKS' (Netflix).  At 1130am: Shut it down to do the Weekly Cleaning and then the afternoon at Esporta. 1250pm:  To ESPORTA ...45" Cross no arms. 45"Treadmill.  30" Bike.  30"Treadmill.  30" Cross and binged more 'WRONG SIDE OF THE TRACKS' (NETFLIX). 445pm:  In the tub with 'Terrapin Station'- GRATEFUL DEAD; 'Rooster Rag'- LITTLE...

Sa 5/28/22- Buddy sick/ Lawn Mowed

Sa 5/28/22 740am (2). 1145am (1). 710pm (1). Up 6am: Mostly sunny with temps in the upper 70's. Wrote up 'WITHOUT RESERVATIONS' by Alice Steinbach for the blog. ***8am: Buddy threw up. He seems fine and I hope it's the usual minor setback. No problems for the rest of the day. Watched 'ENCOUNTER' (Amazon Prime). Initially it seems that a young divorced father is trying to save his two young sons from an alien 'parasite' invasion. Later it's slowly revealed that dad is suffering from PTSD or mental illness that's probably linked to his ten Marine deployments to America's war zones; with Riz Ahmend and Octavia Spencer. A deft mix of 'SciFi', 'Family Drama' and crazy 'Road Trip Adventure' and well worth a look. 1015am: PC is 'Off' and gearing up to attack the lawn. The guy next door was out at nine am sharp.  1045am-1130am- mowing; even though the grass was very tall, no raking required. 1155am:  Wash.Pk. Parkview...

Fr 5/27/22- Made i3 Broadband appointment

Fr  5/27/22 650am (2). 805am (1). 1240pm (1). 7pm (2). 815pm (1).  Up 550am: Overcast and sprinkles/showers in the forecast through this morning and then more clouds with temps to mid 60's.  7am-745am: Grocery shopping at County Market/Fairhills: $108. Tomorrow morning I have a date with the lawn mower. It's looking very shaggy. Watched Netflix disc 'NINE DAYS'. An angel (?) is interviewing souls for the opportunity to be born another time and experience life. He poses ethical questions that demand 'yes/no' answers yet things are not that clearcut. Also, the interviewer has his own problems because he is obsessing over one of his clients that committed suicide. An Art House Film that's both thoughtful and weird; with Winston Duke, Zazie Beetz, Bill Skarsgard, Benedict Wong, Tony Hale, and David Rysdahl. Filmed in Utah- 5 wins & 21 nominations. Watched the next episode of 'THE G WORD' (Netflix)- The subject was weather coverage in the US.  AccuWe...

Th 5/26/22

Th 5/26/22 740am (2). 10am (1). 650pm (1).  Up 6am: Cloudy with a chance of showers and storms all day with temps to low 70's. ***On Tuesday I started taking antihistamines because my head is blocked because of the pollen or it seems like my allergies are acting up. The pills were the ones that I bought the day before the lockdown began in February of 2020. I rushed to the pharmacy department at County Market/Fairhills to get all the cold pills that I could find and I noticed that most people were not concerned about medicine but whether or not they had enough toilet paper.  Watched 'THE KING OF NEW YORK' (Plex-TV). A mob boss is released from prison and he wants to use some of the gang's drug profits to save a Bronx hospital, but the cops just want to put him away; with Christopher Walken, David Caruso, Laurence Fishburne, Victor Argo, Wesley Snipes, Giancarlo Esposito, and Steve Buscemi- Directed by Abel Ferrara. A wild film and I loved it- A Christopher Walken Class...

We 5/25/22- Buddy Sick

We 5/25/22 735am (2). 1015am (1). 1250pm (2). 715pm (1). 815pm (1).  Up 545am: Overcast with rain beginning early this afternoon and continuing through Saturday morning. That was the forecast all day but no rain fell until nearly 8pm. Today was one of the worst weather forecasts I've ever seen. The storms completely missed us.  I wrote up 'DELIVER US FROM EVIL' by David Baldacci. I borrowed 'BAD REPUTATION- Joan Jett' (Hoopla) to watch this evening. ***745am: Buddy threw up twice pretty violently. In ten minutes he seemed fine and I fed him again around 9am and he was ravenous. He seemed fine the rest of the day. Watched 'OUT OF TIME' (Kanopy). A police chief in the Florida Keys uses drug money in the evidence room to pay for his lover's cancer treatments. It's all a scam and she's just out for the money; with Denzel Washington, Eva Mendes, Sanaa Lathan, and John Billingsley. There were some nice locations in southern Florida but I'd only giv...

Tu 5/24/22

Tu 5/24/22 735am (2). 925am (1). 1220pm (1). 730pm (1). Up 540am: Partly sunny with temps to low 70's. Rain in the forecast beginning this evening and continuing through Friday afternoon. ***Around 7am Windows requested a restart. I was back online in just a few moments but what went wrong and why? Watched 'A HOUSE ON THE BAYOU' (Amazon Prime). A 'B-Movie' standout because of a very clever script. After catching her husband cheating she plans a family vacation and the three of them travel to a spooky mansion in the bayou country. There they meet 'Isaac' and 'Grandpappy'- two angels of the 'Lord' or maybe 'Lord of The Flies'. I didn't recognize a single actor. Watched the first 3 episodes '42 DAYS OF DARKNESS' (Netflix).    Shot in Santiago, Chile; Villarrica, Chile; Pucón, Chile; and Puerto Montt, Chile. 12pm: PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk downtown. 1225pm:  Out Edwards, Capitol, 2nd, Allen, Vine, Wash.Pk, ...

Mo 5/23/22

Mo 5/23/22 740am (2). 310pm (2). 705pm (2).  Up 6am: Mostly sunny with temps to about 70. Watched '24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE' (Amazon Prime- leaving at the end of the month). A mildly flippant history of Tony Wilson's quest to make Manchester England the musical center of the universe and he pulled it off...kinda. He made no formal contracts with his artists so that he would own nothing, so it prevented him from 'selling out'. Was that true? The film boasts a snarky feel and Steve Coogan was perfect for the role of the Manchester Impresario, Tony Wilson; with Shirley Henderson, Paddy Considine, Andy Serkis, and Steve Coogan.  1015am: PC is 'Off' and will get the treadmill out of the way early and then take a walk in the park later this afternoon.  1030am: FIVE MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND 1.5 SLANT watched CHAZZ PALMANTINI on JOEY'S JOINT and a J.R.E.  Read 'Deliver Us From Evil' Tried to use phone but Xfinity cutout on Parkview  315pm: Wash.Pk, southside, ...

Su 5/22/22- Bowels Back!

Su 5/22/22 750am (2). 1015am (1). 1225pm. 710 (1).  Up 610am: Partly sunny, breezy with temps to lower 60's. ***The first bowel movement that is 'pre-May 7th' normal. Loose stool but it works for me. Definitely a subject that I'll take up with the next nurse/doctor I see. Watched 'ASTRAL CITY: A Spiritual Journey' (Hoopla). From a website called 'IDEAPOD' in the article 'The top 10 teachings of Brazilian spiritual leader Chico Xavier'. This section describes the movie. "...tells the story of a doctor called André Luíz who dies of cancer and goes to a kind of hell for eight years. He is there because he was selfish in life and only lived for enjoying the moment and physical things. Surrounded by suffering and alienation, he cries out in horror to God to have mercy. Luíz is brought up to a spiritual colony above Rio de Janeiro in the spiritual realms called Nosso Lar, where everyone helps each other and the system functions smoothly for every...

Sa 5/21/22

Sa 5/21/22 745am (2). 1020am (2). 235pm (1). 7pm (2).  Up 6am: Some strong storms last night and rain predicted for most of today with temps only to low 60's. ***720am: Relatively normal bowel movement and no hard stools. I will continue with the Sennosides laxative when I take the Tamsulosin in the evenings. The next time I see a medical professional I will bring up the subject of 'long term use' but I have used the product everyday for at least fifteen years and I am satisfied with the results.  Watched 'THE DEVIL'S OWN' (Netflix). An IRA 'freedom fighter' flees Ireland to NYC and his plan is to buy Stinger missiles and then take them on a small fishing boat back to continue the fight in Northern Ireland. A flimsy premise with some interesting interactions, car chases, moral quandaries yet nothing new; with Harrison Ford, Brad Pitt, Ruben Blades, Treat Williams, Natashcha McElhone, and a very young Julia Stiles.  Finished 'THE MADNESS OF KING GEORG...

Fr 5/20/22

Fr 5/20/22 735am (2). 1020am (1). 1225pm (1). 705pm (1).  Up 530am: Partly sunny and very windy with rain beginning early this evening and continuing through Saturday. Temps in the upper 80's today but tomorrow's high only to the upper 60's. I noticed that 'THE MADNESS OF KING GEORGE' is now on Kanopy so this is today's Morning Movie. Big Mistake!!! I got a Netflix disc yesterday that needs to be viewed so I'll hit 'George The 3rd' later today or tomorrow. Watched the Netflix disc 'SPIRAL'. Part of the 'SAW' franchise where every year for seven years a new 'SAW' was released. The marketing department is what really popularized the films and posters, promotional materials, and trailers were specifically designed to be 'too much' and were often banned. This film is part 'police procedural' and not as gruesome as the rest of the franchise; with Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, and Max Minghella.  "40 Metascore...

Th 5/19/22

Th 5/19/22 735am (1). 315pm (1). 640pm (1).  Up 530am: Partly sunny with temps to mid 80's. I wrote up 'ZULU' by Caryl Ferey for the blog. Watched 'THE TAKEDOWN' (Netflix). A French 'Cop/Buddy' film with some interesting special effects and beautiful locations in Northern France. Half of a body is found and they deduce that the man was riding a motorcycle, fell off a bridge and then was 'sliced' in half by the electrical wires that powered the train that went by as he fell; with Omar Sy and Laurent Lafitte. Filmed in Rhône-Alpes, France and Paris. ***Still constipated and dumped a couple of marbles. 935am: I took one of the new laxatives. The dosage is 1-3 so this should be just what I need and the results should be within 6-12 hrs.  The plan is to see if this works and go back on my normal dose of laxatives that I've been taking for years. However, I might call Dr. Ellison's office and find out if this is actually harmful.  1050am: PC is ...

We 5/18/22

We 5/18/22 745am (2). 12pm (2). 7pm (1).  Up 6am: Rain last night and a few more showers that ended this morning. Highs to the upper 70's. Began 'LINCOLN' (Amazon Prime). Abraham Lincoln's fight to pass The 13th Amendment in the midst of a divided congress and a divided nation. It's almost heartening to learn that extreme political polarization and zero sum game is not just a modern phenomenon; with Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, David Strathairn, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, James Spader, Hal Holbrook, Tommy Lee Jones, John Hawkes, Tim Blake Nelson, and Jeremy Strong. Won 2 Oscars; 107 wins & 252 nominations-'86 Metascore'. Later in the morning I took another hard dump after eating oatmeal. I will put off taking a laxative for another day and see if things will soften up on their own. The plan is to hit Planet Fitness and then buy flowers, salt, and a couple of yard lights. Along the front walk there is one missing and one doesn't work. I added Nirvana, Pr...

Tu 5/17/22- Mowed The Lawn

Tu 5/17/22 715am (2). 12pm (1). 7pm (1). 815pm (1).  Up 545am: Mostly sunny with temps to mid 80's. Watched 'THE PROFESSOR AND THE MADMAN' (Netflix). The strange tale of how the Oxford Unabridged Dictionary came to be. It was spearheaded by an unaccredited academic and a schizophrenic man doing a life sentence for murder yet they both shared an obsession and that was to ascertain the meaning and derivation of every word in the English language; with Mel Gibson, Sean Penn, Eddie Marsan, and Steve Coogan.    ***9am: normal bowel movement although not enough and still a strain. Should I go back to using laxatives?   The plan is to mow the lawn and then go for a walk to Washington Park and then swing by the Walgreens on Monroe for Metamucil. This product is safe for daily use and I'll see how that works before I go back to Sennosides. I only took one 25mg pill per day and two pills are the recommended dosage so I wonder if what I was doing was really that dangerous....

Mo 5/16/22 615am (1). 735am (1). 11am (1). 1255pm (1). 650pm (1). 815pm (1).  Up 645am: Sunny and temps to upper 70's. ***615am-7am: Dug dirt and weeds out of the driveway cracks. The plan is to buy salt later this afternoon. 740am: At Amazon Music: "We are experiencing an error. Our apologies- We will be back up soon." It wasn't back on the air until around 9am.  Watched 'BUTTER' (Hoopla). This title caught my eye last night at IMDB and I learned on ReelGood that it was available on Hoopla.  A morbidly obese high school student is ridiculed about his weight at school so he posts on his website that he plans to eat himself to death on New Year's Eve. And, this dare allows him to become accepted by the popular kids. The film attempts a feeble entreaty to 'Stop The Bullying' and I thought that the protagonist had so much going for him that it was hard to take seriously. He has a muscle car and is a virtuoso on the sax, yet he doesn't have any fri...

Su 5/15/22 740am (1). 1215pm  (1). 710pm (1). 825pm (1).  Up 550am: Partly cloudy and much cooler with temps only to upper 70's. Rain in the forecast for late this afternoon. Watched 'KILLER JOE' (Amazon Prime). The film is a dark Hilly Billy Noir about a murder and insurance fraud that goes awry. Contains the infamous 'K-Fry-C Chicken Sucking Scene' ; with Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch, Juno Temple, Thomas Haden Church, and Gina Gershon. I loved it. Directed by William Friedkin from a play by Tracy Letts.   1050am: PC is 'Off' and will do the weekly cleaning and then more time on the treadmill or a walk outside. And, I'd like  to begin removing the weeds in the driveway cracks. 1220pm:  Wash.Pk: Parkview, Wash.Pk northside, Walnut, Leland, Lincoln, Outer Park, Wiggins, southside Wash.Pk, up the hill, Parkview,  Fairway, and up to 940...TWO HOURS...Mp3...YO LA TENGO;  TRAFFIC; 91.9 FM. Sa 5/14/22 725am (2). 11am (2). 115pm (1). 705pm (1).  Up 545am: Partly sunny, cooler with highs to mid 80's. Watched Netflix disc 'MATEWAN'. A mesmerizing account of the bloody struggles between the mine owners and the union workers that exploded in the small town of Matewan, West Virginia in 1920; with Chris Cooper, James Earl Jones, Mary McDonnell, Will Oldham, and David Strathairn. Directed by John Sayles. From Wikipedia: "On May 19, 1920, a shootout in Matewan, West Virginia, between agents of the Baldwin-Felts and local miners, who later joined the United Mine Workers of America, sparked what became known as the Battle of Blair Mountain, the largest insurrection in the United States since the American Civil War."    1030am: PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk downtown to the Monroe PO to mail back the discs.   1105am:  Out Governor; walked a bit downtown..."There is something going on but you don't know what it is, do you Mr. Jones?"......

Fr 5/13/22

Fr 5/13/22 8am (2). 1245pm (2). 655pm (1). 820pm (1).  Up 550am: Partly sunny with temps to about 90. Paid the Chase card and transferred money from checking to money market account: Total- approx. $15,000 in both Heartland accounts. I filled out the form for reimbursement of $102 from the Aetna dental plan and will send it off when I visit Planet Fitness later this afternoon. Watched 'PAIN & GAIN' (Amazon Prime). A gung-ho fitness instructor and a couple of his muscle-headed bros  launch a kidnapping scheme that reaps millions but things go sideways... "If you can prove you deserve it, the universe will serve it"... Parts of the movie are hysterical and I think many people would actually believe his hyper-positivity... "Get off your lazy American asses''!... I was really surprised to learn that this is based on a real series of events; with Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Anthony Mackie, Tony Shalhoub, Ed Harris, Rob Corddry, and Rebel Wilson. Filmed...

The 5/12/22- Dental Exam: 1pm/ 1 Hitter before County Market

Th 5/12/22- Dental Exam: 1pm. 740am (1). 2pm (1) [in the dental lot- 1st time]. 710pm (1).  845pm (1).  Last night I learned that I have lost about $700,000 since my highpoint last November. It's such a shocking number that I don't really know how I feel about it.  Up 620am: Partly sunny, breezy with temps to just over 90. ***Call Supplement Superstore about laxative I wrote up 'ZERO DAY' by David Baldacci for the blog. Watched 'EDGE OF FEAR' (Netflix). It's a classic 'home invasion' genre film but this one is impossible to believe unless you are under seven years old. A man with a knife sticking out of his chest (the premise is that the knife blade 'seals?' the wound to his heart) outwits and out fights a gang of bad guys. The husband and wife protagonists are Chinese and this was a joint Chinese/American production and was filmed in Conyers, Georgia, an eastern suburb of Atlanta. 930am: PC is 'Off' and preparing for the treadmill b...

Living room PC is back in business and both up to speed by 715am. Major inconvenience with no change or improvement to the operating system whatsoever- as usual.   I wrote up 'AMERICAN BOY' by Larry Watson for the blog when I was screwing around with the Windows Updates.  Watched 'TAKE THIS WALTZ' (Hoopla). A woman succumbs to a powerful sexual connection to the neighbor across the street. A strange movie in that her 'true love' seems to morph into the same sad situation that occurred with her ex. Full female nudity in a superfluous shower scene and some crazy water aerobics.  3 wins & 19 nominations; with Michelle Williams, Luke Kirby, Seth Rogen, and Sarah Silverman. ***Crazy sounds of building/tearing down going on in the neighborhood.  Tu 5/10/22 755am (1). 1255pm (2). 230pm (1). 705pm (1). 810pm (1).  Up 6am: Partly sunny and the heat wave has arrived! Temps to the low 90's through Friday and this is early May. I answered an email from Janny about the photo that Joe sent yesterday. They were at Cracker Barrel sitting on the front porch and Melissa snapped the shot. Watched 'HYENA ROAD' (Netflix).  The tale of a Canadian sniper unit in the Afghan war. A mediocre war film that rates (at best) a 'C'. I didn't recognize a single actor and the film was shot in Shilo, Manitoba, Canada and Jordan... "You may have the clocks, but we've got the time". ***935am: The grass whip arrived! It hasn't even been 24 hours.  1010am: PC is 'Off' and the plan is to mow the lawn and then go for a long walk. 1030am-1115am: Mowed, trimmed, and swept.  Mo 5/9/22- Added Weight 9am (1).1035am (1). 1230pm (1). 210pm (1). 710pm (1). 9pm (2).  Up 6am; Sunny and windy with temps to about 80. Last night I thought I would visit Walmart this morning to get 7 bags of cedar chips, flowers for the planter, a grass 'whip', a few pocket tee shirts, and drop off some clothes/cowboy boots at GoodWill. And hit Green on Wabash for a car wash. 830pm: The guy that mows the lawn across the street arrived and mowed the grass at the lot down the street (next to the vacant house next door), but never mowed the lawn across the street. I wonder why he didn't mow across the street.  Every Monday at 8am he hits that lawn and this has been going on for years. Does it involve Supply Chain Issues?  I read 'ZERO DAY' and left for the store around 9am. 915am car wash 930am:  jeans, boots, sweater to GoodWill  945am:  Walmart no tees, no grass whip; bought 7 bags of red mulch and flowers for the planter.  Stopped at Ace on Waba...

This will save me from mowing for a couple more days. Buddy threw up while I was slashing weeds but he seemed OK the rest of the day.  Watched 'THE GENTLEMEN' (Netflix). The premiere Cannabis Kingpin of  The UK wants to retire and starts negotiations with another pot entrepreneur to sell his business. Then he becomes involved in a complicated plot to devalue his business (his grow houses are located at the palatial estates of cash poor aristocrats) and sell at a loss but who knocked over the first domino?  Sa 5/7/22- Foul Bowels 1140am (2). 3pm (1). 720pm (1). 830pm (1).  Up 550am: Sunny with temps to about 70. ***Nearly four hours with a painful bowel movement. Very similar to the incident after one (the first?) of the colonoscopies when I was still in the condo. I ate normally the night of the colonoscopy and the next morning I had to shit but felt blocked with concrete and I had to expel  broken glass. On Thursday I didn't take a laxative but I did yesterday. Another example of anxiety about getting to emergency care or should I call an ambulance. I finally voided at 1045am. It has been an exhausting morning and I am entirely drained.  Watched 'SILVERTON SIEGE' (Netflix).  Three South African Black 'Freedom Fighters' (Terrorists?) are nearly stopped while attempting to blow up an oil pipeline and flee into a bank. Th 5/5/22 745am (2). 1120am (1). 115pm (1/2). 7pm (1). 825pm (1).  Up 620am: Rain in the forecast for today and tomorrow with temps to mid 50's. ***Ordered Tamsulosin at County Market/Fairhills. Pick up tomorrow when I go to workout. Watched 'A SCANNER DARKLY' (Kanopy). I guess the film could be seen as a plea to end government intrusion into the lives of citizens, but I think the real focus is merely to present a sparkling selection of cracked conversational narratives that people might say while they are high. The characters constant teasing and banter is a stoned hoot; with Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, Robert Downey Jr., Rory Cochrane, and Woody Harrelson. From a novel by Philip K. Dick, directed by Richard Linklater; 4 wins & 21 nominations.  Watched the first episode of 'A VERY BRITISH SCANDAL'- Season 2 (Amazon Prime). Cut it off at 45" and continued on the treadmill. Borrowed 2 from Hoopla: 'THE GOOD DOCTOR' and 'ANGELS OF THE SUN'. Watched 'THE GOOD DOCTOR' (Hoopla). A young resident doctor becomes enthralled with a high school patient and fiddles with her meds so that she must come back to the hospital for treatment. Things get way out of hand and in the end, he's able to get away with two murders. This was a very low-key and subtle film about a doctor who has no moral compass and abuses his position and the film makes no attempt to defend or reject his lack of ethics. I liked this one a lot more than I thought I would; with Orlando Bloom, Riley Keough, Taraji P. Henson, Michael Pena, and J.K. Simmons.  More of 'THE 7 LIVES OF LEA' (Netflix). The US Marshal Service is after an escaped traitor but they've set their sights on the wrong man. Lots of Action/Thriller mayhem and still fairly forgettable; with Tommy Lee Jones, Wesley Snipes, Robert Downey Jr., Joe Pantoliano and Irene Jacob. 1050am: PC is 'Off' and going to walk on the treadmill. The plan is to get in 5 miles on the treadmill and then an outdoor walk later this afternoon. CHANGE OF PLANS- Too damp and chilly.  1120am:  FIVE MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND 1.5 SLANT and watched 'GRASS IS GREENER' (Netflix). An excellent deep dive into the slanted propaganda behind America's war on cannabis.  Weight/13 reps 4pm: TWO MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND 1.50 SLANT and watched more of JESSICA KIRSON on J.R.E ***Internet problems just as I got on Amazon Music. Restarted the ...

Mo 5/2/22- Mowed The Lawn

Mo 5/2/22 825am (2). 1205pm(2). 205pm (1). 705pm (1).  9pm (1).  Up 615am: Partly cloudy with rain predicted for later this afternoon. Temps to upper 60's. Watched 'THE OUTFIT' (Peacock-TV). A 'cutter' ("I'm not a tailor. Tailors only sew on buttons and hem garments") spends a tense and bloody evening with members of the Chicago mob. It's all murder, lies, and deception and a very clever and sophisticated screenplay. Filmed on location at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, London. 1045am: PC is 'Off' to tackle the lawn. 1105am-1145am. 1210pm: Wash.Pk, southside,  Walnut, Williams Blvd, northside, up the hill, Parkview,  Fairway, and up to 940. I raked some gumballs...ONE HOUR AND 30 MINUTES...Mp3...1st & 2nd BLUE CHEER albums.  Reading 'THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY' and listening/napping to FRIPP & ENO.  355pm: TWO MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND 1.50 SLANT and more of JESSICA KIRSON on J.R.E.  515pm: In the tub with 'THROUGH A GLASS DAR...

Su 5/1/22

Su 5/1/22 735am (2). 930am (1). 1225pm (1). 710pm (1). 855pm (2).  Up 6am: Mostly cloudy, breezy with temps to low 60's. Watched 'MIGHTY APHRODITE' (Hoopla). A NYC couple adopts a baby boy and as the child develops the man wants to find information about the birth mother. Because the boy is smart and attractive and he hopes that mom is from fine stock, but this is not quite the case. Mom's a ditzy 'porn star/prostitute' with a very endearing personality; with Woody Allen, Mira Sorvino, F. Murray Abraham, Helena Bonham Carter, Paul Giamatti, Peter Weller, Michael Rapaport, and Jack Warden. From VARIETY: "A zippy, frothy confection that emerges as agreeable middle-range Woody." Watched the next episode of 'A VERY ENGLISH SCANDAL' (Amazon Prime). A wild and crazy tale and I'd like to read a book about the incident.  Watched half of the next episode of 'OZARK' (Netflix) and shut it down at 35". PC is 'Off' and will do the W...

Sa 4/30/22

Sa 4/30/22 815am (2). 1125am (1). 715pm (2). 845pm (1).  Up 630am: Rain through late this afternoon with temps to about 70. I borrowed three titles from Hoopla to meet my quota for the month: 'ZULU', 'MEASURE OF REVENGE', 'THE MIGHTY APHRODITE'. I wrote up 'HOLD TIGHT' by Harlan Coben for the blog. Watched 'ZULU' (Hoopla). While investigating the brutal murder of a white woman two South African detectives uncover a plan by a pharmaceutical company to develop a drug to unleash on the black townships. This designer drug will cause users to become uncontrollably homicidal and this will decimate the black population and lead to white domination. A great and wacky idea for a film, but this movie was just so-so. Some nice machete action- a white man loses a hand and a black man is beheaded; with Orlando Bloom and Forest Whitaker. Filmed in Capetown, South Africa. I later learned that the film was shown at Cannes in 2013 and when I found out the film wa...
