Mo 8/30/21

Mo 8/30/21 920am. 1245pm. 940pm.  Up 710am: Cooler and partly cloudy with highs in the mid 80's and a possible shower later this afternoon. Yesterday I charged the phone in 1 hour and 40 mins from a 23% charge. This morning I was at 68% as it would take less than an hour from the wall socket, but almost three hours on the USB port on the PC. I don't remember this charging difference between the PC and the wall socket on the old phone.  Watched 'SAS; Rise of the Black Swan' (Netflix). Somewhat silly, but mildly entertaining for a Political/Action/Thriller. The British prime minister paid a rogue security service (Black Swan) to destroy an entire Russian village so that a pipeline could be installed. When this information goes public his government is toast. And in a confusing chain of events, the bad guys hijack the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle that runs from Folkestone to Calais; with Sam Heughan, Ruby Rose, Hannah John-Kamen, Andy Serkis, and Tom Wilkinson. Filmed in Hunga...

Su 8/29/21

Su 8/29/21 845am. 1145am (a pinch). 240pm. 845pm.  Up 650am: Was in bed by 11pm last night, so it's not that early. Partly sunny and not as hot during the early afternoon, but back to the low 90's by 1pm. Rain predicted for Monday and Tuesday. Buddy seems fine and although he didn't eat his last plate of food last night, however it disappeared during the night. Too much time on the Reddit videos. Watched 'THE SUM OF ALL FEARS' (Netflix). A stolen nuclear bomb is detonated at Baltimore stadium during an NFL game. The world is brought to the edge of Mutual Assured Destruction, but Jack Ryan saves the day. The Evil Doer was just a super-rich fascist who wanted to pit the US against Russia and then take over the planet after the capitalists and the communists annihilated each other. "The 20th century could be characterized as a battle between Capitalism and Communism yet Fascism was  seen as a mere blip on the radar. But today, Communism is essentially dead and F...

Sa 8/28/21

Sa 8/28/21 930am. 1215pm (a pinch). 920pm.  Up 710am: Another very hot and humid day with temps to the low 90's. Buddy seems to be back in the pink. I called Brewer at 745am for a gel-pen refill and the clerk called back at 8am with the OK. Apparently there was no doctor on duty till 8am. Walked to pick up the gel-pen: 840am-910am.   Watched the remaining three episodes of 'INHUMAN RESOURCES' (Netflix). The French title is 'DERAPAGE' and means 'a skid or accidental slide sideways' in English. Eric Cantona played soccer for Manchester United and retired in 1997. Although he's acted in many things, he's primarily known as a soccer star.  2pm: On the treadmill...5 MILES AT 3.5 PACE...Finished NEAL BRENNAN on WTF, then watched the last episode of JOHN OF GOD, and began a WHISKEY GINGER with JOHN CRIST. ***I found Th 8/26/21 in the 'TRASH' file. Read 'THE GUNS OF THE SOUTH '. 550pm: On the treadmill...2 MILES upped the pace to 5.6...more...

Fr 8/27/21- Buddy Sick and Recovers

Fr 8/27/21 915am.  950pm.  Up 750am: More intense heat and humidity- low 90's with Heat Indexes in the triple digits. ***Lots of activity across the street at Bob and Carol's. The past two days they've rented a U-Haul rental van: $19.99. Moving lots of stuff 'out'- beds, tables, kids toys, a lot.  Two old guys with a pickup and a small flatbed joined the fray this morning.  I think the brouhaha might be tied to the daughter's house that's on the market on Parkview.     Buddy turned up his nose at a new can of 'mixed grill'. He ate some of the 'crunchies' with no problem, but he's not right. At 47% capacity the phone says it will be charged in under 2 hours. What was the problem before. I put it on 'airplane mode' to see if that would make it faster. Watched Netflix disc 'JOHN ADAMS'.  The vaccine scene was an eye opener. Mrs. Adams agrees to the risk of inoculation for smallpox and the doctor has brought a man on a wagon w...

Th 8/26/21- Missing Day

Th 8/26/21    is missing and I don't think that this has ever happened before. One for the books!Later in the day I found it in the 'Trash' folder. Who woulda thunk? Th 8/26/21 9am. 1110am (a pinch). 215pm. 9pm.  Up 720am: More intense heat and humidity with a possible strong storm moving through the area early this afternoon...much later is what happened, but still very humid- 72 at 9apm.     Watched 'THE SWARM' (Netflix). A single French mother breeds locusts  to support herself and two children and learns that when she feeds the insects human blood, the swarm approves. Is the commercial locust industry a thing? Not believable in the slightest.   Gave 'INHUMAN RESOURCES' (Netflix series) another shot. Watched the first two episodes and it's well worth a look. An evil corporate boss stages a hostage situation to learn which of his administrators has the guts to fire 2,500 people. An out of work executive is hired to play a kidnapp...

We 8/25/21

We 8/25/21 855 am. 1140am (a pinch). 925pm. 1040pm (a pinch). Up 7am: Mostly sunny and humid with temps to the mid 90's and Heat Index in the triple digits. 735am: Phone was at 63% and it's in 'airplane mode', 'Off', and charging.  Watched Netflix disc 'STARDUST'.  A Canadian film about David Bowie without any music by David Bowie.  The film is a shot as to how Bowie might have been feeling during the lull in his career before his stellar album, 'THE RISE AND FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS'.  Marc Maron plays Bowie's manager and their interactions while on 'the American tour' was believable and real. I wonder what David Bowie would have thought of the film.  An Odd Fact: To 'keep the band together', Doug Yule pretended to be Lou Reed months after Lou Reed had left the band. Bowie learned of this and thought there really wasn't a whole lot of difference between being a rock star and pretending to be one....

Tu 8/24/21

Tu 8/24/21 955am. 115pm. 905pm.  I opened the windows but they'll be closed soon because a Heat Advisory is in place beginning at 1pm this afternoon. Plenty of sun with temps in the low 90's and Discomfort Index in the triple digits. ***When I got on the PC I immediately scheduled an appointment with Xfinity. There was only one left, at 530pm today.  Watched 'SWEET GIRL' (Netflix). The premise seems reasonable enough. A man and his daughter go after a crooked Big Pharma exec because the corporation stopped offering a cheap and effective treatment for cancer.  Mom didn't have to die, but at the 45 minute mark we learn that Dad has been killed and his daughter is hallucinating that she is him. Total wackiness, yet the kill count is quite impressive. I know that with Jason Momoa you're not going to get 'Shakespeare In The Park', but you should at least expect some believability.... with Jason Momoa, Isabela Merced and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. Filmed in and ...

Mo 8/23/21

Mo 8/23/21 840am. 11am. 935pm.  Up 710am: The heat wave is here! Sunny and hot with temps to low 90's thru next Sunday. with Heat Indexes in triple digits. ***The new phone charger cord is not any faster than the old cord. Over 4 hours to charge at 57%. Not acceptable and I'll check Best Buy to see if they can tell me if a wireless charger will work faster.  Watched 'DONKEY PUNCH' (Amazon Prime- leaving today). Three young women from Leeds are vacationing on Mallorca and meet some guys with a yacht. It starts out sexually provocative, but soon veers into the Splatter Film genre. 'Donkey Punch' refers to a fictional sex act in which the man is performing sex 'doggy style' and he punches the woman in the back of the neck and kills her. This occurs in the film, yet there are also stabbings, shootings, drownings, and even a lynching. Filmed in Cape Town, South Africa. 1045: PC is 'Off' and preparing for a shorter walk through Washington Park before...

Su 8/22/21

Su 8/22/21 910am. 210pm. 10pm.  Up 710am: Sunny with temps to mid 80's. Wrote up 'TWEAK' and 'LANCELOT' for the blog. Watched 'THE LAST CASTLE' (Amazon Prime). A slightly corny story about a corrupt Colonel who runs a military prison with an iron fist, but loses control when a disgraced general is incarcerated and stages a revolt; with Robert Redford, James Gandolfini, Mark Ruffalo, and Robin Wright (almost a 'walk on'). ***I noticed that the charger is taking far too long to recharge the phone. I think Buddy's chewing on the cord has had a negative impact and after I workout I'll hit Walmart to get a replacement. Xfinity closes at 5pm so I hope I can find something at Walmart.  Reading 'GUNS OF THE SOUTH' by Harry Turtledove on the couch.  215pm: To Planet Fitness. 45" Cross.  45" Treadmill.  30" Bike.  30" Treadmill.  30" Cross. Watched 'ALL IS BRIGHT ' (AMAZON PRIME). Two ex-cons try to steer clea...

Sa 8/21/21

Sa 8/21/21 9am. 355pm. 935pm.  Up 710am: Cloudy with rain moving in this afternoon-humid, low 80's. Just a few light showers when the day ended, but on Monday the heat wave begins and the daily highs will be in the low 90's through Friday.  I watched the Netflix disc 'COLD CASE HAMMARSKJOLD'. At the end of the film it's not clear if the Secretary General of the UN was actually assassinated in September of 1961, but it sure looks fishy. Was the 'South African Institute For Maritime Research'(SAIMR) a complete fabrication or was it a five thousand man clandestine army dedicated to white rule for all of the African continent? Keith Maxwell, the founder of SAIMR reminds me a lot of Ron L. Hubbard the creator of Scientology. The film also reveals a conspiracy theory involving the spread of HIV using clinics in black townships in South Africa run by Maxwell. Health experts have said that "...spreading the HIV virus would not have been technically feasible at ...

Fr 8/20/21

Fr 8/20/21 905am. 1215pm (a pinch). 320pm. 10pm.  Up 715am: Mostly sunny with temps to upper 80's. Rain expected early tomorrow morning. Scanned the news and watched far too much Reddit Video... Watched 'KISS THE GIRLS' (Amazon Prime). Alex Cross's niece is missing and soon he learns that she's been taken by a team of 'collectors'. 'Casanova' and his sidekick have kidnapped a group of women and forced them to live in 'subterranean gothic'...In a gas filled kitchen the detective fires his gun close up to a quart of milk so that the liquid smothers the muzzle flash to keep the room from exploding. Who woulda thunk?...with Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Brian Cox, and Jeremy Piven (ENTOURAGE). Then I watched the last hour of 'WILDLIFE' (Netflix). Directed by Paul Dano and based on a novel by Richard Ford set in 1960 about a family in crisis. When dad learns that his wife has been cheating on him, he exclaims to his son, "It's a ...

Th 8/19/21

Th 8/19/21 1040am. 330pm (a pinch). 945pm.  Up 8am: Sunny with temps to the upper 80's. Mowed the lawn at 850am-935am. The guy next door had his service cut their lawn just as I was finishing. Shower, bong, 'THE LINCOLN LAWYER' (Amazon Prime). A Los Angeles criminal attorney has one client on death row for what another client has done. A 'cat and mouse' plot and really well-done; with Matthew McConaughey, Marisa Tomei, Ryan Phillippe, William H. Macy, John Leguizamo, Michael Pena, and Bryan Cranston; from the novel by Michael Connelly. An interesting quote from 'TIME OUT': "...when a movie resembles a long-lost, corduroy-clad episode of "The Rockford Files," that's a problem...." Snide, but I could see how it might apply. 145pm: PC is 'Off' and preparing for a treadmill workout.  150pm: 5 MILES AT 3.5 PACE...J.R.E. with ZUBY- critic of the government's handling of COVID, then ARI SHAFFIR podcast about cocktail fighting in...

We 8/18/21

We 8/18/21 10am. 255pm. 10pm.  Up 745am: Mostly sunny with temps to the upper 80's.  I wrote up 'THE SUM OF US' by Heather McGhee for the blog. Watched 'BECKETT' (Netflix). Not believable in the slightest, but enjoyable nonetheless. Probably because the locations are beautiful and not what you normally associate with Greece. A man falls asleep at the wheel and his girlfriend is killed in the accident. Because the crash occurred outside a house that held a kidnap victim, the bad guys are out to kill him, and even the American consulate is involved.   Attempted to re-register my account for FOID and the website just 'spun' in the 'processing' phase. I finally got in, but it said I had to call a number to reapply and change address. Then I was on hold for far too long...It did say that the current cards are valid until 18 months after the 'declared state of emergency'. Apparently we are still in 'the emergency'?, but I've never hear...

Tu 8/17/21- Agnes Fenner: 800 N. 1st- 330pm.

Tu 8/17/21- Agnes Fenner: 800 N. 1st- 330pm. 845am. 945pm.  Up 730am: Bright and sunny with temps to low 80's. Watched the Netflix disc, 'NOMADLAND'. A grim portrait of a woman who has been forced to 'hit the road'. I can see why conservatives might call this 'poverty porn'. Why do we have to highlight the negativity? Why can't we celebrate the wonderful things that this country has done for us?..."I Love Jesus,  Jesus Loves Me,  And Fuck You"!!! with Frances McDormand and David Strathairn. 1145am: On the treadmill....5 MILES AT 3.5 PACE...Watched 'UNTOLD- DEAL WITH THE DEVIL' (Netflix). First 'big time female professional boxer is beaten, stabbed,  and shot by her trainer/husband. He knew she was gay, but he wouldn't let her go. Then JB SMOOVE on ANDREW SANTINO's podcast. Read 'ALL OF US' on the couch. Arrived  800 N. 1st at 245pm after dropping off the disc at the Monroe PO. The lot where the old YMCA is covered wi...

Mo 8/16/21

Mo 8/16/21 850am. 1215pm (a pinch). 240pm. 930pm.  ***I was able to reconfigure the 'Day/Date' on the Casio wristwatch using the online instructions. I have no idea how I did it, but I still hate this watch! Up 7am: Another sunny day with temps to 80. 1030am: Someone is on the roof of the abandoned home next door. They (a man and a woman) are removing branches and piling them by the street for pick up. I wonder what else has been planned- probably nothing.    Watched 'BODY OF LIES' (Hoopla). A 'by the numbers' espionage thriller that's worth a look, but no new ground is broken. INTERESTING PREMISE: The CIA operative on the ground in the middle east is run by his handler in Arlington, VA. who takes his calls while going about his daily suburban life; with Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Mark Strong, and Oscar Isaac, dir. Ridley Scott. The agent is wounded in an explosion and his local contact is vaporized in the blast..."Bone Fragments. Not yours....

Su 8/15/21

Su 8/15/21 850am. 150pm. 845pm.  Up 730am: Another beautiful sunny day with temps to about 80. I watched 'BACKTRACK' (Amazon Prime- A.K.A 'CATCHFIRE). A young female artist witnesses a mob killing. The mob contracts a hitman to take her out, but he falls in love with her and they take off for the wild, wild west..."Passion's a hard thing to conceal"... I mis-heard this and thought he said 'Fashion is a hard thing to conceal'. I think that that is even funnier. Dennis Hopper is in a scene with Bob Dylan. Dylan has a chainsaw and is making an art piece and he says that what is needed is something massive- like concrete. Hopper's character says, 'Yeah, I used to be in concrete too. Concrete shoes'; with Dennis Hopper (also dir.), Jodie Foster, Dean Stockwell, Vincent Price, John Turturro, Fred Ward, and in very small roles- Catherine Keener, Charlie Sheen. Joe Pesci is great in 'full-on, snarling gangster mode'.  Filmed in Seattle, Wa...

Sa 8/14/21- SANGEAN WR-16SE AM/FM RADIO

Sa 8/14/21 935am.  125pm. 935pm.  Up 8am: Mostly sunny with temps just over 80. Watched the Netflix disc 'COLLECTIVE'. In Bucharest, Romania 27 people were killed and 180 injured in a fire at a nightclub in 2015 and this incident uncovered massive corruption within the country's healthcare system. Operations were routinely performed in less than sterile conditions and it was found that disinfectants were diluted by almost 90% and all patients in the hospital were in danger of infection. Heads of political parties were running local hospitals, yet when the scandal was made public, the Social Democrats (who were behind the corruption) won a sweeping victory and Romanian healthcare was left unregulated. A really fantastic film of the 'Investigative Genre'. Nominated for 2 Oscars; 32 wins & 50 nominations. 1245pm: PC is 'Off' and debating whether I should visit the 'Tag Estate Sale' across the street before I return the Netflix disc downtown. I did...

Fr 8/13/21

Fr 8/13/21 9am. 1140am (a pinch). 205pm. 855pm.  Up 720am: Sunny early with rain late this morning ending early this afternoon (never occurred) temps in the lower 80's for the next few days. Feels great! Both machines are current with the Windows Updates.  ***There was a yard sale at the old lady's house up the street that is on the market. Lots and lots of cars until about noon.  On the walk I noticed that it was a 'tag estate' sale. Later in the day I noticed that Bob and Carol's daughter, who lives on Parkview, has got her house on the market.  Watched 'THE USUAL SUSPECTS' (Amazon Prime). The devil's biggest success has been to promote the theory that he doesn't exist, but who is 'Keyser Soze'? Won 2 Oscars, 37 wins & 17 nominations; with Kevin Spacey, Gabriel Byrne, Chazz Paminteri, Stephen Baldwin, Benicio Del Toro, Kevin Pollak, and Pete Postlethwaite. Well worth a second look, although I agree with Roger Ebert in that he points out...

Th 8/12/21

Th 8/12/21 1005am.  820pm.  Up 735am: Possible pop-up thunderstorms this morning and tonight, but very hot and humid- 90's. Heat Index numbers in the triple digits. Tomorrow the temps drop back to the low 80's. I wrote up 'SHARKY'S MACHINE' by William Diehl for the blog and then down the 'Reddit Rabbit Hole'. Watched 'THE LOSERS' (Netflix). An American Special Forces team is set up by the CIA and they exact their revenge. Because it was based on a comic book, maybe that's why it didn't try to take itself too seriously. Best scene in the movie is when Chris Evans's character sings along to 'Don't Stop Believing'- JOURNEY; with Idris Elba, Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans, Holt McCallany, Columbus Short, and Jason Patric. 1245pm: On the treadmill... 5 MILES ON THE TREADMILL AT 3.5 PACE...Watched WHITNEY CUMMINGS podcast- actor ROB MCELHENNEY from 'SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA. When I got off the treadmill the sky was black and the wind was...

We 8/11/21

We 8/11/21 920am.  1150am. 305pm. 905pm.  Up 730am: Extreme heat and humidity with a heat index of triple digits. I loaded up the blue can with more of the discarded books. I watched 'RAISING ARIZONA' (Hoopla). It's really just a twisted valentine to 'the nuclear family unit' or maybe a skeptical look at what it means to be a 'responsible adult';  with Nicolas Cage, Holly Hunter, John Goodman, William Forsythe, Sam McMurray, and Frances McDormand.   Then I watched 'TULA: THE REVOLT' (Tubi-tv). Based on the historical figure, Tula who led a slave uprising on the island of Curacao (Kur-ah-sow: accent on first syllable) in 1795. According to the film, Tula only wanted to talk to the governor about freeing the slaves on the island of Curacao. He felt that since Curacao was a Dutch colony and the Dutch had lost a war to France, then French law should prevail. France did not recognize the institution of slavery. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that ...

Tu 8/10/21

Tu 8/10/21 925am. 1235pm [a pinch]. 935pm.  Up 730am: Temps to low 90's through Thursday with dangerous heat indexes. AC 'On' all day. After too many Reddit videos I watched 'AFTERMATH' (Netflix). A somewhat reasonable film of the  'haunted house' genre.  A couple moves into a house where a murder/suicide occurred. It's pretty convoluted and there are plenty of red herrings about supernatural beings, but the wife that previously owned the home was having an affair with a man that she was secretly hiding in the house. When her lover learned that she wanted her husband back, he murdered them both and staged the murder/suicide. The film didn't take itself too seriously and that was it's most saving grace. The lead in the film looked more than a lot like Andrew Santino- "In Here We Pour Whiskey".  I watched a review of last night's 'THE FATHER' and I really liked the explanation of the film and I will definitely see this film a...

Mo 8/9/21

Mo 8/9/21 855am. 250pm. 925pm.  Up 715am: Fierce storms moved through the area from 4am-7am. I actually fell out of bed during one blast of thunder and lightning around 5am.  Falling out of a bed (even if liquor was involved) might have happened one other time in my life...that I can remember. Is Sleepwalking next? Temps and humidity will build and the Heat Index will be over 100 by this afternoon. ***I have yet to hear the sump pump, but the area is still dry. Cleaned the bong with a 'Gasoline Alley' rinse before the film.  Watched 'HOMICIDE' (Amazon Prime). The dialogue is not so much witty as it is very realistic-  'Cop Talk' Mamet style. An excellent twist at the end. There was no anti-Jewish conspiracy and it was just two random juveniles who murdered the candy store owner because they thought she had a hidden 'treasure' in her basement. True Evil works best when it is invisible. Written and directed by David Mamet; with Joe Mantegna, William H. Mac...

Su 8/8/21

Su 8/8/21 825am. 3pm. 925pm.  Up 715am: Partly cloudy with temps to upper 80's. AC was 'On' yesterday afternoon and through this morning. It'll probably be back 'On' later this morning because it was becoming hot and very humid. Watched 'THE MATRIX' (Pluto TV). Thomas Anderson is a computer programmer who cruises the Internet using the screen name 'Neo'. Then he meets people that appear to be from another dimension who convince him that he has been chosen to save mankind from the simulated reality of The Matrix. A great film, but I don't think I really appreciated the film when it was released in 1999; written and directed by the Wachowskis with Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving, and Joe Pantoliano.   1145am: PC is 'Off'.  1215pm-1pm: Mowed the lawn 2pm-230pm: Weekly Cleanup 305pm: To Planet Fitness...45" Cross.  45" Treadmill.  30" Bike. 30" Treadmill.  30" Cross. Watched the ...

Sa 8/7/21

Sa 8/7/21 920am. 4pm. 530pm. 910pm.  Up 720am: Partly sunny with temps to upper 80's. Watching dumb Reddit videos...so hypnotizing.  Watched 'GOLDSTONE' (Amazon Prime). A very classy Australian film that might have been written by Jim Thompson. A small town sheriff learns that the local authorities are corrupt and their biggest employer has been stealing land from the Aboriginal tribes and sex trafficking young women. Filmed in the very remote and desolate Middleton, Queensland, Australia: population 9 people (2016 census); with Aaron Pedersen, Alex Russell, Jacki Weaver, and David Wenham.   Watched the next two episodes of 'COCAINE COWBOYS' (Netflix). The biggest trial of the largest cocaine ring in Miami's history and THREE members of the jury were bribed to bring in a 'not guilty' verdict, and it almost worked. It's pretty amazing that the two brothers started out dealing small quantities of weed to high school classmates and in just a few years...

Fr 8/6/21

Fr 8/6/21 855am. 1130am (a pinch). 250pm. 910pm.  Up 7am:Partly cloudy with temps to lower 80's. I watched 'VAL' (Amazon Prime). Val Kilmer has been shooting movies that date back to when he was a young boy making films with his brothers. This film is a 'documentary collage' or bits and pieces of film that he has cleverly spliced together to create an 'enchanting/bizarre' overview of his life. Kilmer proudly welcomes the audience into a warehouse full of this cinematic memorabilia and although he knows that he's got a terrific amount of material, he still worries that it might not be complete enough to tell the 'real' story.  I definitely understand that dilemma.   Then I finished, 'CROCK OF GOLD: A FEW ROUNDS WITH SHANE MACGOWAN the Shane MacGowan film. He's still drinking although it's obviously killing him, however there is no danger that even young children would consider heavy drinking after seeing this doc.   120pm: PC is ...

Th 8/5/21

Th 8/5/21 940am. 510pm. 9pm.  Up 8am: Sunny to partly cloudy with temps to the lower 80's. I wrote up 'ALL MY FRIENDS ARE GOING TO BE STRANGERS' by Larry McMurtry for the blog. I watched 'THE AMERICAN' (Amazon Prime).  Paced slowly and set at beautiful locations throughout rural Italy, the film is about an American hitman's last job. He is to provide his expertise in assembling a rifle and how to make the shot and he doesn't even have to pull the trigger. Something seems off and his sultry client or his stunning prostitute/girlfriend might be trying to take him out. But which one? A very taciturn performance by Clooney and according to the Trivia it was an intentional homage to the Spaghetti Westerns of the late 60's. George Clooney heads an international cast.  1230pm: On the treadmill...5 MILES AT 3.4 PACE and finished TIM DILLON on The Joe Rogan Experience.  Read 'SHARKY'S MACHINE' on the couch. 515pm: Washington Park: South side, street...

We 8/4/21

We 8/4/21 940am. 405pm. 850pm.  Up 745am: Another beautiful summer day. Sunny with temps to low 80's. I threw out the books that I had stacked in the corner of the basement and I also parted with the ancient 'parson's table' to make the Wednesday trash pickup. Scanned the selections on IMDB-TV and added them to my list. Watched '13 HOURS- The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi' (IMDB-TV). Based on the attack on the two American diplomatic stations in Libya on September 11-12, 2012. Six Republican federal inquiries into this incident absolved Obama and the government of any dereliction of duty, but the smokescreen created by this false narrative (1. No Air Support;  2. Orders to Stand Down)  probably cost Hilary the White House; with John Krasinski and directed by Michael Bay.   ***145pm: I got a robocall from Ameren saying that they will be replacing my meter sometime in the next couple of weeks...Remember to have them re-hook the living room gas ...

Tu 8/3/21

Tu 8/3/21 910am. 145pm. 925pm.  Up 740am: Partly sunny with temps to about 80. Another beautiful summer day. Watched 'THE SECRETS WE KEEP' (Hoopla). In 1960 a suburban wife and mother kidnaps a man seemingly at random. She is convinced that the man was a Nazi SS officer who raped her and murdered her sister in Europe during the last days of WWII. But can she convince her husband or has she got the wrong guy? A rather tepid storyline and would have been much more exciting with a surprising plot twist, but the costumes and set details were the best part of the film; with Noomi Rapace, Joel Kinnaman, and Chris Messina.  1215pm: PC is 'Off'. 2pm: To Planet Fitness...44" Cross. 45" Treadmill.  30" Bike.  30" Treadmill.  30" Cross. Watched 'PRAY AWAY'. A fascinating profile of the Christian anti-gay organization, EXODUS. This is the first time that I've seen a religious institution do a 180 reversal in their thinking. I still don't u...

Mo 8/2/21

Mo 8/2/21 915am. 2pm. 910pm.  Up 730am: Partly sunny and cool with temps only to upper 70's. Watched 'MOM' (Netflix). An Indian teen from New Delhi is violently sexually assaulted at a party. Her mother seeks revenge after the courts do nothing and she must exact her own justice. Mom's a biology teacher, but could she really make cyanide out of apple seeds?
