Su 9/29/24- Gummy

Su 9/29/24- Gummy ****{The Stony Wrap Up: a third at 620am, and a third at 140pm} My best experience with edibiles ever. I think I could stretch one 200 mg over twelve hours and make a complete day of it*** {620am: One third of a 200 mg DIET SMOKE gummy}.  750am (2-LB).  815am (1-LB). 1035am (1-LB). 135pm (2-LB). 140pm [took the remaining 1/3 200 mg DIET SMOKE}.  540pm (2-LB).  Up 605am: Cloudy with temps to upper 70's. Weekly Cleaning Watched 'REMINISCENCE' (Netflix).  Set in a dystopian future where Miami, Florida is underwater (due to climate change) and it has become like a flood ravaged American version of Venice, Italy. People sleep during the day due to the heat and most of the city is flooded and taxis are long gone, but boats are in. It's a crazy noir tale about a guy that runs a company that catalogs your memories (the SciFi elements of the film) and for a fee, you can go back (using a kind of sensory deprivation tank) and relive any moment of yo...

Sa 9/28/24

Sa 9/28/24 705am (2-LB). 8am (1-LB). 1025am (1-LB). 1235pm (2-LB). 540pm (2-LB). 815pm (2-LB).  Up 6am: Cloudy & breezy with temps to mid 70's.  Watched 'BANGKOK BREAKING: Heaven and Hell' (Netflix). A brave EMT is hijacked and forced to aid in a violent riot situation. Street gangs and police swat teams battle on the turf of Bangkok's dilapidated public high rise buildings. A multinational corporation wants to take the community's land and build a gentrified housing complex and upscale retail space. "We're Not Leaving, We Have No Place To Go". There are gangs fighting gangs while the police battle the protestors and the ambulance driver becomes involved in the kidnapping of a young rich girl. A lot of moving parts in this film, but it was fast paced action with lots of special effects. Worth a look.  More 'MONSTERS' (Netflix). I finished episode #6 and there are only three left. I will continue at Esporta and maybe finish the series tonig...

Fr 9/27/24- Roof Inspection: Perfect Choice/ VIIA- THCA Flower Order

Fr 9/27/24- Roof Inspection: Perfect Choice/ VIIA- THCA Flower Order  7am (2-LB). 9am (2-LB).  935am (1-LB). 130pm (1/2-LB). 440pm (1-LB). 540pm (2-LB). 815pm (2-LB).  Up 6am: Clouds & light rain/mist for most of the day with temps only to about 70. There is a Wind Advisory that begins at 1pm and gusts could top 40 mph. We're dealing with the fringes of Hurricane Helene.  On the treadmill early because I want to get in all the mileage before the roof inspection at 3pm. 705am: FIVE MILES AT 4.1 PACE AND ZERO SLANT; TUESDAYS WITH STORIES; more of SNOOP DOG on J.R.E.  No Weights Began 'MONSTERS' (Netflix). I shut it down 28 minutes into episode #4. A great cast creates a compelling and unique profile of a toxically dysfunctional family. Although I can't really sympathize with the brothers, it's easy to understand the reasons for their actions. But, maybe that's why sociopaths are so dangerous. They are able to make their thoughts and actions seem  re...

Th 9/26/24

Th 9/26/24 705am (2-LB). 810am (1/2-B). 1210pm (2-LB). 535pm (2-LB). 815pm (2-LB).  Up 6am: Sunny & breezy with temp to upper 70's.  Watched 'THE KILL ROOM' (Kanopy).  The film is basically a light satire on the determination of 'Value' within the marketplace where artists, collectors, and dealers trade artworks for huge sums.  Asking prices are sky high and the standards by which they are judged are purely hypothetical. So, it's an ideal opportunity to launder huge sums of money. I thought the satire was a little weak, and a more interesting film might have been a documentary that successfully hypes and sells a fraud and demonstrates how easily the 'experts' can be fooled; with Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson, and Joe Manganiello. "58" Metascore and I'd give it a 'C-minus' although I did enjoy the film.   Watched 'MURDEROUS MINDS: Harold Shipman' (Amazon Prime- 45"). An English doctor killed over 200 people and acc...

We 9/25/24

We 9/25/24 725am (2-LB). 830am (1/2-B). 920am (1-LB). 1230pm (2-LB). 220pm (1-LB). 445pm (2-LB). 540pm (2-LB). 815pm (2-LB).  Up 520am: A mix of sun & clouds with temps to mid 70's. Around 820am the woman next door had a large appliance or big flatscreen TV delivered. This has been an expensive summer for the old lady. She's had a major repair to the roof, a security fence installed, and a bathroom remodel. That's got to have cost her thousands of dollars even if she got the best deals available. This morning she was out briefly when the appliance was delivered and she looks really old, overweight, and walks with a cane Watched 'THE BRAVE ONE' (Hoopla). An unusual 'Lady Boss Man' film because the central theme seems to be that vigilante justice can be a positive thing. A woman and her fiance are brutally beaten in Central Park, NYC. He dies from the attack and the horrendous incident causes her to place herself in extremely dangerous urban situations wh...

Tu 9/24/24- Passport; county building 710am (2-LB). 810am (1/2-B). 1005am (1-LB). 1135am (1-LB). 105pm (2-LB). 535pm (2-LB). 815pm (2-LB).  Up 6am: Fog & drizzle early and then cloudy with temps to upper 60's.  Watched 'LADY J' (Netflix). It's about a 'psycho/sexual relationship' between two members of the French nobility during the mid 18th century. A wealthy libertine Marquis courts a rich and aloof noblewoman. When she yields, he's content for a while, but soon he rejects her and claims that neither one of them are in love. However, the lady schemes to get even and she achieves her revenge by using a couple of prostitutes to pretend to be a rich and pious 'mother and daughter'. He's tricked into marrying the daughter, but when he learns of the scam, he forgives his antagonist in the end. A satisfying costume drama that was dialogue driven and had a similar vibe to 'DANGEROUS  LIAISONS'.  950am: The PC is 'Off' and I am pre...

Mo 9/23/24- Gummy

Mo 9/23/24- Gummy  640am (2-LB). 845am (1/2-LB). 955am (1-LB). [1230pm:  1/3 200mg Diet Smoke gummy]. 1235pm (1-LB). 535pm (2-LB). 815pm (2-LB).  Up 5am: Light/ moderate rain/ mist all day with temps to upper 60's. Before 8am the guy arrived and mowed the lawn across the street even though it rained early this morning. And a red truck pulled up to continue the remodel job for the woman next door, but was gone by noon.  Watched 'THE PAPER' (Netflix- leaving 9/30). It's about how a major NYC newspaper was run during the early 90's and it was so out of date that it felt quaint. A handful of writers and staff argue about what is newsworthy and their collective decision decides the story. The Big Story: Two black teenagers are arrested for the murders of two white businessmen. The Truth: The two youths were only walking by and it was really a mob hit. A star studded cast and funny dialogue, but it might have been true in the early 90's, but I'm sure that how ...

Su 9/22/24 710am (2-LB).  8am (2-LB).  10am (1-LB). 135pm (2-LB).  450pm (1/2-LB). 540pm (2-LB). 815pm (2-LB).  Up 530am: Rain this morning and possibility of more rain later in the day, but temps only to low 70's. Weekly Cleaning Around noon the guys finished up the remodeling job next door. They removed the trailer that was loaded with broken sheetrock, a bathtub, and old tiles. I wonder if the woman is satisfied with the work? Correction: They must have just gone to lunch because they came back and worked till 4pm. The trailer & trash will not be missed.  Watched 'SAVI' (Netflix). A successful Indian contractor from Liverpool is convicted of a murder that he did not commit. His appeal is rejected, so his wife contacts a famous crime novelist to help her spring her hubby from prison. Happy, sad, violent, sexy, musical, and comedic and the film strains just a bit while trying to touch all emotional bases, but that's the nature of Bollywood.  Set ...

Sa 9/21/24

Sa 9/21/24 645am (2-LB). 730am (1/2-B). 1140am (2-LB). 440pm (2-LB).....[I got back from Planet Fitness an hour early,  but I didn't realize until I was in the tub]...815pm (2-LB).  Up 520am: Partly cloudy & humid with temps close to 90. Extensive rain moves in early tomorrow morning and we had a fierce cloud burst this afternoon around 2pm. Watched 'COME OUT AND PLAY' (Hoopla). A couple visit a remote island off the coast of southeastern Mexico. When they arrive they find that the place is vacant. Soon they find the village children have been on a murderous rampage and killed all of the adults and soon they become targets. It's kind of a silly premise that almost becomes camp..."And, if you see anyone, just scream"..."44" Metascore and I would rate it only slightly higher. From Los Angeles Times: "A one-man band known as Makinov — he wrote, directed, produced, shot, edited and ran sound here — has done a pretty decent job in the chills depa...

Fr 9/20/24 650am (2-LB). 805am (1/2- B: Last of the Indica). 940am (2-LB). 1235pm (2-LB). 210pm (1-LB). 440pm (1/2-LB). 535pm (2-LB). 815pm (2-LB).  Up 530am: Light rain early morning, then partly cloudy with temps to 90. This morning I noticed that the guy next door is using the wood that he had delivered from Lowe's to build a flowerbed.  The sides are a couple of feet tall and the blonde wood looks sharp.   Watched 'ARCHIPELAGO' (Hoopla). An English Art Film about a very rich & aristocratic  'family vacation'. Details of the story are slowly developed and you begin to realize that the family members are alienated (in a gloomy stone cottage on a rainswept island off the English coast near Land's End) and no one wants to be there. The son is going away to Africa for eleven months and it was to be a family send off, however Dad never makes it and Mom screams at him over the phone that all of them hate him.  Sister complains about the service and b...

Th 9/19/24- Walla Speaker Arrived 705am (2-LB). 8am (1/2-B). 1030am (1-LB). 1230pm (2-LB). 210pm (1-LB). 440pm (1-LB). 540pm [NEW BATCH:  Sativa] (2-LB).  810pm (2-LB).  Up 550am: A sunny day with temps to 90. The humidity seemed low and I never turned on the AC. Pleasantly warm. Watched 'BOXER' (Netflix). It's not an ode to pugilistic glory by a long shot, but more about identifying the important people in your life and how not to lose them. A rookie Polish fighter finds the love of his life and as his career advances, his wife realizes that it's all been a dream of his and not theirs. In the end, he loses everything, but becomes a good divorced father and manages a boxing gym for young kids. More than a bit corny, but still worth a look even though it's probably an hour too long.  More 'WOMEN OF THE NIGHT' (Netflix). I shut it down 29 minutes into episode #6. An interesting take of 'human trafficking'. For some of the top escorts, prostitution is ...

We 9/18/24- Gummy/ Pot Shop  710am (2-LB). 8am (1-B). 1015am (2-LB). 125pm (2-LB). [110pm- 50mg gummy/ 2nd half of a 100]. 240pm (1-LB). 355pm (1-LB).  535pm (2-LB). 820pm (2-LB).  Up 610am: A mix of sun & clouds with temps to upper 80's.  ***The bathroom remodeling crew arrived at 7am sharp, and then 2 left at 715am. and the third remained to do the work.  Watched 'MISSING' (Netflix). A young Japanese couple's lives are turned upside down when their seven year old daughter is kidnapped. The film is not a 'who dunnit', but charts the family's emotional disintegration. Each person deals with overwhelming shame and guilt over their unwitting participation in the incident. Mom blames herself because she was at a concert and the socially awkward uncle was the last to see the girl and he feels responsible because he didn't walk her the last 300 meters to her home. You never learn what really happened, but what emerges is a realistic portrait of a family ...

Tu 9/17/24- Sore Right Ankle/ Buddy Sick 710am (2-LB: Sativa). 815am (1/2-B: Sativa). 1005am (1-LB: Back to Indica). 1250pm (2-LB). 305pm (1-LB). 435pm (1-LB). 535pm (2-LB). 820pm (2-LB).  Up 540am: Bright & sunny with temps almost to 90. ***The remodeling job next door is gearing up. Drywall is now involved and I would guess a new bathroom or kitchen.  Three guys {and a maroon pickup with a trailer}, but I only remember one from the security fence job- the big goofy one. When I went on the walk I noticed that there is a bathtub in the back of the trailer, so they're probably remodeling the bathroom.  Watched 'BETWEEN TWO WORLDS' (Kanopy).  A female author goes undercover to write a book about poverty, low wages, and the lie of upward mobility. She becomes part of a cleaning crew that in one shift must clean hundreds of rooms before the cruise ship goes back across the channel to Portsmouth, England. When her book is released a couple of the women feel emot...

Mo 9/16/24- Passport Call 705am (2-LB). 1040am (1-LB). 1pm (2-LB: Sativa). 535pm (2-LB: Sativa).  Up 610am: A mix of sun & clouds with temps almost to 90. Watched 'THE SENSE OF AN ENDING' (Amazon Prime).  A retired man (his shop sold vintage Lieca cameras) living in London receives a letter notifying him that he has inherited something from an old girlfriend. It's a diary from a male friend who committed suicide. A complex yet compelling story about love, betrayal and nostalgia for the past..."I who neither won nor lost, who avoided being hurt and called it a capacity for survival";  with Jim Broadbent, Charlotte Rampling, and Emily Mortimer. From 'IndieWire': "...gets to the core of the slipperiness of memory and the allure of the past". "61" Metascore and I would have bumped it up to about "70".  930am- 1030am: Began to work on the call to Boston about the passport. I called the office of vital records and left word and...

Weekly  Cleaning Watched 'SECTOR 36' (Netflix).  A young man in India is kidnapping local kids from the slums and then, raping, killing and then eating them... he also sells their organs. He confesses to 22 to 24 murders, yet the authorities let him slide because that's 'The System'. Definitely an Indian film, so it's a little clunky and promotes the usual theme that 'corruption is endemic', but are the police really that rough on suspects?  Paid Card Watched 'BOTTOMS' (Amazon Prime). The film reworks The 'High School Comedy' genre and wraps it into a campy, queer and provocative funny film. The premise is that two gay loser girls start a 'Fight Club' for girls so that they can have sex with cheerleaders. Freewheeling, Over The Top, Teen Sex Comed...

Watched 'ACCIDENT' (Netflix). At only 85 minutes, the film still packs a punch. A sophisticated team of assassins make their hits appear to be accidents. When one of the members is run over by a bus, the leader wonders whether that might have been a hit. Filmed in Hong Kong, China. The suspense never lets up from the first scene to the final credits.  830am: The PC is 'Off' and I'll try to find the original copy of my birth certificate, but I think that they kept it. I would have put it back in the safe, and it's not there. I am so sick of fucking with this.  905am- 940am:  To VFW Post...They keep my paperwork (including my original 'birth certificate' document) and they will send it all back in three months (from 8/1) if I do nothing more. Watched 'BLACK MASS' (Netflix). A star-studded biopic of James 'Whitey' Bulger, the charismatic mob boss of Boston's 'Winter Hill Gang'; with Johnny Depp, Benedict Cumberbatch, Joel Edgerton, Kevin Bacon, Juno Temple, Peter Sarsgaard (great junkie performance as 'Brian'). 6 wins & 24 nominations. Up 6am: A mix of sun & haze with temps to upper 80's.  Watched 'THE NEXT SKIN' (Netflix).  A young boy from Catalonia was missing for eight years and now he is back in his home village. Is he the missing child or is he an impersonator with an ulterior motive? It's not answered definitively, but it seems that the boy pushed his father off the side of a mountain, and that's the reason he took off. But how could a nine year old boy kill his father and then disappear into the mountains without a plan or help of any kind? The film is set at a beautiful location in a village (and a trailer park) on the edge of the Spanish Pyrenees. Another film that's more 'atmosphere & tone' than 'plot & storyline'.  Watched 'UNKNOWN: Killer Robots' (Netflix). AI's innovations will first be use...

They invited me for last week's game, but I didn't see the text until 1030pm. 630am:  FIVE MILES AT 4.1 PACE AND ZERO SLANT; watched 'WE MIGHT BE DRUNK' with JOE LIST and his unfunny wife- painful to watch.  Watched 'THE DELIVERANCE' (Netflix). Watched 'B TWIXT NOW AND SUNRISE' (Amazon Prime). I don't think it was intended to be taken very seriously although the cinematography and set design were stellar. A boozy writer goes to a remote town for a book signing and stays to learn of the town's haunted past. The local sheriff is a loon who thinks that he's a novelist and there is a group of goth kids that live out by the lake. It makes for a very spooky atmosphere, but without a believable dramatic storyline it's just"...a lot of fog on the lake kind of crap..."; with Val Kilmer, Bruce Dern, Ell Fanning, Ben Chaplin, and Tom Waits (narrator). Directed by Francis Ford Coppola.  Began 'THE PERFECT COUPLE' (Netflix). I began this yesterday at Esporta and I thought I'd give it another shot sin...

Watched 'THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON' (Hoopla- leaving in September). This is what I wrote in this week's Chat:  "I just finished watching 'THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON' on Hoopla. I did all two hours and 46 minutes of it in one fell swoop and as Roger Ebert once said, "No good movie is too long and no bad movie is short enough". The film is leaving Hoopla later this month and I'm sure glad I rewatched it. I know that I'd seen it before, but it was well worth a second look. It's a sweet film with an uplifting message and the cast and special effects are nearly flawless."   ***10am: I noticed that the water pressure had dropped at the kitchen sink. Weekly Cleaning Watched 'PERDIDA' (Netflix).  Five Argentine school girls go on a field trip to Patagonia and one goes missing and is never found. Actually, the missing girl was taken by sex traffickers and over the years became a Madam.  Fourteen years later one of the girls has become a detective and relentlessly continues the search for her missing friend. A classic example of the 'Lady Boss Man' genre that works!  I had seen this one before and well worth a second viewing because it's pretty complex and it was developed from a South American novel titled 'CORNELIA'. {The title of the film translates as the feminine for 'lost' or 'loose woman'} Watched 'THE MISFITS' (Netflix). Very unusual. ***I put the new gray sheets on the bed.  Watched 'REBEL RIDGE' (Netflix). Filmed in Leesville, LA. A man is biking to a courthouse to post bond for his cousin. He's wearing earbuds and isn't aware that a cop is trying to pull him over. It's a corrupt police force and they take his money and charge him with multiple count felonies. In an average film, he would violently and immediately get his revenge, but in this movie it's much more thoughtful and drawn out, yet still very exciting. I really liked this one; with Aaron Pierre, Emory Cohen, and Don Johnson. "79" Metascore.   Finished 'CAUGHT IN THE WEB:  The Murders Behind Zona Divas' (Netflix). A film about 'Cancel Culture' and what defines the  'Black Experience'. A 'serious' black author decides to write a 'ghetto novel' and cash in on white guilt. A major theme of the film is about how the publishing industry imposes racial stereotypes on nonwhite authors. I loved that he decided to title the book 'Fuck'; with Jeffrey Wright, John Ortiz, and Sterling K. Brown. Based on the novel, 'Erasure' by Percival Everett.  Won 1 Oscar; 63 wins & 166 nominations. The old mafia chief''s son is a gay rageaholic and he's gotta go, and his second in command wants to take his place. A sexy midwife holds an incriminating diary that demonstrates illegal activity by the mob and she wants to trade the info for a whore's newborn baby..."Slaves give birth to slaves". I knew I had seen it before, but didn't really click until the legendary 'knife fight in the steam room' scene; with Naomi Watts, Viggo Mortensen, Armin Mueller-Stahl, and Vincent Cassel. Two Cases:  1) Police detective implicated in the hit and run death of the man believed to have killed his wife. The cop wasn't driving the car, but his ex-mother in law was. 2) Young girl is stabbed to death in her bed. It wasn't her secret lover, but her roomate. According to IMDB this is Netflix's first original Argentine movie. I gave this one '2 thumbs up'.  Watched 'YOU ARE NOT ALONE: Fighting The Wolf Pack' (Netflix). After 'The Running of The Bulls Festival' in Pamplona, Spain a woman is assaulted by five men. In Spain at that time, a woman could be sexually assaulted when she was incapacitated by alcohol or drugs and the perp would only be guilty of...

Tu 9/3/24

Tu 9/3/24 630am (2-LB). 725am (1/2-B). 950am (2-LB). 1210pm (2-LB). 540pm (2-LB). 815pm (2-LB).   Up 515am: Partly cloudy with temps to upper 70's. Watched 'MOTHER!' (Pluto TV). Directed by Darren Aronofsky. A strange yet compelling film about a husband and wife who are restoring and living in a remote country home. The man is a writer with writer's block and she is a housewife who seems to be somewhat troubled. They are visited by an unsettling couple who seem to set off a series of strange and hallucinatory sequences. The husband eventually becomes a kind of 'messiah' and she unwillingly evolves into his 'inspiration'...I guess: The description of the film at Pluto TV- "...visually arresting psychological thriller that will leave your heart pounding and your mind blown!"  I watched a couple of YouTube videos about the film and realized that I completely missed the point. The man was meant to be 'God' and the woman was 'Mother Ear...

Mo 9/2/24

Mo 9/2/24 710am (2-LB: Sativa). 745am (1/2-B: Sativa). 1255pm (2-LB: Sativa). 230pm (1-LB: Sativa). 440pm (1-LB: Back to Indica). 535pm (1-LB). 815pm (2-LB). Up 6am: Bright & sunny with temps only to upper 70's. Watched 'NOAH' (Hoopla).  It's much more of a Special Effects film than I expected. I wasn't very knowledgeable of Noah's character in the bible and I had never heard of 'The Watchers'. These were angels that tried to aid humans and god punished them. Once they were 'light' and then they were 'stone'.  Directed by Darren Aronofsky; 1 win & 19 nominations. "68" Metascore and I would have rated it five to ten points lower. {I am halfway through Joe Rogan's interview with Russell Crowe and he talked about several of the details of the making of this movie}.  I Read about 'NOAH' and the biblical underpinnings of the film and then wrote 'The Chat'.   Watched 'THE POISONOUS WIFE' (YouTube Tr...

Su 9/1/24- Mowed Lawn

Su 9/1/24- Mowed Lawn 720am (2-LB: Sativa). 810am (1/2-B: Sativa). 1015am (1-LB: Sativa). 1215pm (1-LB: Sativa) .  305pm (2-LB: Sativa). 540pm (2-LB: Sativa). 815pm (2-LB: Sativa).  Up 6am: Bright & sunny with temps only to about 80. Watched 'THE LINE' (Kanopy- borrowed yesterday). An odd tale of how a family copes with a restraining order. The violent daughter must spend the next three months behind 'a thin blue line' that is one hundred meters from the family residence. The opening scene was unforgettable: The daughter is violently subdued during a crazy altercation on a Catholic holy day. A superior Independent film, but affecting and beautiful settings. Filmed in Port-Valais, Canton du Valais, Switzerland which is east of Geneva and on the shore of Lac Leman {Lake Geneva}. 4 wins & 6 nominations. "60" Metascore and I would have added at least 10 points. 'The Guardian'- "...engrossing, unnerving but unexpectedly sympathetic drama of fa...

Sa 8/31/24 655am (2-LB). 755am (1/2-B). 1010am (1/2-LB). 1210pm (2-LB). 210pm (1-LB). 350pm (2-LB: Sativa). 540pm (2-LB: Sativa). 815pm (2-LB: Sativa). 905pm (1/2-LB: Sativa).  Up 530am: Partly cloudy and much cooler with temps only to about 80.  Yesterday evening the radar map forecast a very fierce storm to hit around 9pm. The map colors were bright orange to blood red, but this storm completely missed 940. Almost 2 inches in the rain gauge this morning.   Watched 'FERRARI' (Kanopy). A profile of Enzo Ferrari that highlights his hard driving & dictatorial management style and the relationship between his mistress, his wife, and his illegitimate son.  The film is always engaging and one spectacular car crash that was like nothing I have seen before.  A race car blows a front tire, flips into the air and takes off the top of a telephone pole, and then crashes into a crowd of spectators; with Adam Driver, Penelope Cruz, and Shailene Woodley. Direct...
